7.14% ONMYOUJI'S TRIAL / Chapter 2: Chapter 2

Chapter 2: Chapter 2

'Bang!" The door was kicked open and a sturdy looking man came into the room.

'Hmm? Why is the classroom so quiet? That's rare.'

"Listen up! You lot may have been treated like royalty but when you are inside you belong to me. Understood?"

The silent classroom dropped a few decibels making it even creepier.

"Hmph! You lot are now in the military! When a superior tells you to do something I want to hear a YES SIR! UNDERSTOOD?"

"..."

"HAVE YOU LOT NOT EATEN? DO . YOU . UNDERSTAND?"

"YES SIR!"

"Not that in unison but it's a start. Today onwards you will begin to start learning omyoudou, you will be training both physically mentally so prepare yourself for the hardest trial of your life." The man bellowed.

The class gulped in unison not because of the warning but because of the aura the man was giving out.

"My name is Roger, I have no surname. I will be your main teacher for physical training. Any questions?"

"Sir aren't we here to learn omyoudou? What does physical exercise have to do with becoming an omyouji?"

"Huh? Are you really asking me a question like that?" Roger frowned as he glared intensely at the idiot who asked such a question.

"Erm did I say something wrong?" The young man in question was looking left and right, being afraid he really did ask something dumb.

"Tell me something, if you don't have the strength to run and dodge, do you think you can just stand in battle like a statue? Especially against those monsters?"

Roger walked up and poked the young man on the forehead.

"Get it in all of your skulls, the world up there isn't so naive like you. No matter how much you think you can prepare there will always be something stronger and scarier awaiting you. My job here is to prepare you the best I can and to beat that naiveness out of you."

Seeing that the young man was shivering so hard, Roger sighed.

"I had enough naiveness for today, you lot just report to the ground at five thirty in the morning, you may settle yourselves in or whatever you want. Class dismissed."

Roger walked out with a pained expression leaving a flabbergasted class behind.

The first to follow was also Rin, he left the class without a word and headed towards the library. He had no time to waste and becoming an omyouji was the best way he could protect his family and himself.

He was determined to become stronger.

He had to.

The library was heavily guarded by fierce looking men but he was easily led through with a scan of his ID.

"You may enter the library but be warned the books available to you are only on the first floor." The guard warned him sternly.

Rin nodded and went in. The first floor had books as far as the eye could see.

'This much knowledge? How was it possible to read all these books to become an omyouji? No my thinking was wrong, because there is so much knowledge to absorb that's why omyoudou has been split into many paths. But where do I start?'

"What's wrong little lad? You have been staring in space for awhile." A soft spoken voice came behind him.

Rin turned to see a very stunning young lady, her deep brown eyes and cherry lips and flowing black hair that made men blush and a light fragrance that could soothe the soul.

"Well I was going to look for the fundamentals of myoudou but I don't know where to start in this heap." Rin was going to say that she didn't look too far from his age but he shut his mouth since it may not sound very nice.

"Come let me show you some essential books. It's a good thing you came early because these books tend to always get borrowed at the start of the semester." The young lady smiled and very naturally held his hand.

Rin didn't think much of it but he was thankful so his expressionless face flashed a radiant smile that made the young lady's heart go kyun <3.

"Thank you and I am sorry for the trouble miss."

"It's no trouble at all, oh where are my manners what's your name? You can call me Sylvia."

"I'm Rin."

"Oh? That's an unusual name but a wonderful one nonetheless."

Like she promised Sylvia picked out a few fundamental books for Rin and they started reading together in silence.

Sylvia did have her eyes bounce from her book to his face from time to time. Rin's concentrated look was rather manly even with his cute looks.

'Huh? Rin finished reading one of the books already? Is he just skimming through?'

After reading through a few more books, Rin finally placed his book down and stared at the air blankly again.

"Is it a little too hard for you to absorb in one go? Don't worry most people have to read over and over again to get the hang of it."

"Oh I actually just finished understanding it. It did take me more time than expected to comprehend this as expected of the way of omyoudou."

Sylvia couldn't believe what she just heard.

"You're telling me you already learned all these books in … two hours?" Sylvia looked up at the clock hanging at the top of the library wall and found out it was actually a little less then two hours. Her doubt started showing a little on her face, she initially had a rather decent impression of Rin but now….

"Prove it."
