Oh no, this is becoming a slice of life...

After a full day, the sun was finally leaving the horizon and Alexa watched it while swinging slightly on one of the swings with Caelia at her side. She never imagined that it could happen again, maybe it was really destiny, or else, her stubbornness.

"So, how did you follow me? Knowing you, you probably did something crazy, like hitchhiking on the bus..."

"Indeed."

"Wait, really?"

Alexa fixes her feet on the ground, stopping the movement of the swing. The image of the goddess lying on the bus came to mind.

"Yes. What's the matter?"

"You could be noticed, you know?"

"There was nothing to do. I used up all my teleportation that day."

Alexa thinks about yesterday. Indeed, all the news she saw about Caelia that day was about her running away after being spotted and chased by a crowd. She must really be exhausted from using her powers, especially considering that she wasn't able to do much.

"By the way, how are your powers?"

"Let's see... about twenty percent."

"I see. It looks like you're recovering well."

"Yes, but I'm still not capable of much."

Caelia looks at her hands. With that amount of power, she could already be compared to the strongest magicians in the world, but that was still a long way from what a goddess would be able to do.

"What could you do with one hundred percent of your power?"

"Sink this continent."

"R-Really? Wow ..."

Alexa thinks about the extent of Caelia's power and imagines what she would be able to do when she was fully recovered. Even with the greatest technology or with all the strongest magicians in the world together, it was not possible to cause so much destruction. If what she was saying was true and she decided to turn against the world for some reason, no one would be able to stop her.

"How the hell did you lose the war?"

Caelia tightens the grip on her hands that held the swing. Greater than the frustration of being defeated is the frustration of losing with all that power at her disposal.

"Power is not everything. There were many things involved in that war, and destruction was just the opposite of what we wanted."

Alexa couldn't understand what the goddess spoke very well, after all, she was never in a situation where she had to make such decisions. Caelia knew that power required management and responsibility, and the more you had, the more these things were needed. Not even the strongest weapon in the world would be able to banish all evils from existence.

"But liking or not, you lost the same way, didn't you? Wouldn't it be smarter to use brute force?"

"That was our first alternative, remember?"

"Oh, that's right."

Caelia had said before that destroying humanity had been the first plan of the goddesses, but that because of her intervention this did not happen.

"Thanks to my naivete, that catastrophe happened and the goddesses lost their trust in me. If they're alive somewhere they must be wishing for my suffering. Maybe that's why I woke up... to suffer."

Caelia looks at her feet, as she has done several times since she left that crystal.

"You're being dramatic again. I said, didn't I? What's past is past."

The goddess looks at Alexa, who receives her with a smile.

"Relax. Be yourself, live as you wish."

"This is more difficult than it looks."

"But you started well. Isn't that why you're here?"

"Yes..."

Alexa sways again. The sun was completely gone, leaving space for the other stars to shine.

"By the way, I like the sandals. They suit you."

"R-Really? I didn't know what to choose, so I had to ask for help and..."

"They're great."

"I'm glad you liked it."

In a swing boost, Alexa takes a leap. She turns to Caelia, who was a little embarrassed.

"So, what are you doing around here?"

"Walking. I don't have much to do. Ah, but don't worry! I've already found a place to stay."

"Really? Look you, being self-sufficient."

Alexa approaches Caelia, who retreats without getting off the swing.

"Show me."

"What?"

"Your home. Show me."

"Now?"

"Yes, now."

For some reason that Alexa don't yet know, Caelia don't appear to be very comfortable in presenting her new home, this story seemed more like an attempt to keep her unconcerned.

"All right."

Caelia gets up and takes her to a place not far from the playground, an open area surrounded by trees and shrubs. There was nothing remarkable about that place, except for the camping tent in the middle.

"It's here."

"Where?"

"Here, don't you see?"

Caelia points to the only object that stands out in that landscape.

"Wait, here?! In that tent?!"

"Yeah. Isn't it great? I bought it for only half the value of one of these bills. I didn't know you sold portable houses. Human technology is incredible."

"So you mean you spent the night here yesterday?"

"Yes. Well, it's not as comfortable as my castle, but at least it protects me from the rain and the wind... amost."

Alexa already knew what to expect, but it was worse than she imagined. A goddess living as a homeless person, how much trouble would that make if someone found out and posted on social media? Disbelieving the situation, she decides to do what she had planned a long time ago and takes Caelia by the arm.

"Let's go home."

"W-Wait, Alexa! What about my house?"

"You'd be better off living in a doghouse!"

Alexa drags Caelia all the way to her home. Before opening the door, she takes a deep breath to prepare for the racket her mother is going to make. She enters, trying to look as natural as possible, and Caelia follows behind.

"I'm home!"

"Finally! You were late today, I was already getting worried!"

Alexa's mother's voice came from far away through the halls, she was probably in the kitchen doing the dishes. Without even changing clothes, she goes directly to her to talk about her situation.

"Yes, I just had to work some things out. By the way, I need to talk to you about something."

"What is it? Did you get in trouble again?"

"Well..."

Alexa's mother turns around and finds her daughter alone in front of the entrance. Soon after, the goddess passes by, looking around curiously as if nothing is happening.

"Hmm, so this is how a human's house is these days. A little cramped, no doubt, but it's a lot better than the one I bought at that store."

Upon seeing her, the mother drops the half-washed cutlery she was holding on the floor. The shock is so big that her blood freezes and her legs weaken to the point of almost passing out.

"I-I-I-I-I-Is that ...?!"

"Yes. This is Caelia, the super famous goddess of the TV. Caelia, this is my mother."

"It's a pleasure."

Caelia positions herself in front of her mother and bows slightly as a greeting. The mother remains stunned without understanding anything.

"A-Alexa, where...? How...? Why...?

"Ah, I found her on the street. Can I have her?"

"I'm not a cat, you know..."

The mother gets excited by her sudden visit and takes Caelia's hands in order to prove to herself that the person who was in front of her was real and not a haunt.

"Yes, of course! In fact, you came in good time, we were already getting ready for dinner! Why don't you have dinner with us?"

"Oh no, mom, she doesn't eat."

"I would love to."

"Ehh?"

"How great! Sit down, I'll serve you soon!"

Unable to control her arousal, she returns to the sink and quickly begins to prepare dinner. A few minutes later and she already had a curry pot ready, it was the quickest dinner she had ever prepared. She set the dishes on the table and served the goddess.

"Here it is! Please enjoy! If you want more, just ask!"

"Thanks."

In the meantime, a fourth person had shown up at the table. It was a boy who appeared to be attending primary school. He kept looking at the strange person who was dining with him.

"Mom, who is this tall woman?"

"More respect, Cody! You are facing the goddess!"

"Goddess?"

Paralyzed with admiration and intimidation, the little boy continues to look at the goddess without paying attention to the food. "Maybe he was captivated by her beauty", Alexa thought, while stroking his head.

"This is my little brother, Cody. Cody, this is Caelia, a friend."

"Friend?"

It wasn't expected that Caelia was surprised by the title Alexa gave her, after all, it was the first time she was called a friend. In fact, it was the first time someone had put herself on the same level as her.

"Nice to meet you, aunt Caelia."

"A-Aunt ?!"

Now that other title was a little too hard to accept.

"Hey, don't be rude, Caelia. Answer him properly."

"I'm not an aunt! I'm a...!"

"Goddess? Who knew. You are eating curry in the presence of normal people, goddess. Can you make a miracle to turn this curry into a turkey?"

"Don't make fun of me!"

Hearing Alexa playing with the goddess, her mother squeezes her head with both fists to punish her, but without losing her smile and composure.

"W-Well, let's calm down!"

"Ouch! Stop it, mom!"

After finishing serving everyone, the mother also joins the table, but without paying any attention to her food as well. She rests her head on her interlaced fingers and looks at the goddess with a smile.

"So, to what do we owe the honor of your presence in our humble residence?"

"Well I..."

What would be? Caelia had no idea what she was doing in that place, since Alexa brought her without explaining anything. The goddess couldn't help feeling that she was bothering her all the time, even with her hostess treating her so well.

"She has nowhere to live."

"Oh! Really?"

"It's not true! I have a house!"

"That's not a house! It's a camping tent!"

"What a tragedy! The goddess living in a camping tent!"

"I was thinking about her staying here for a while. What do you think, mom?"

"Of course! I would never say no to the goddess!"

"But I didn't ask anything..."

"Silence! Don't make things more complicated than they should be!"

It had been a while since that table was so lively. Everyone seemed nervous about the situation, but Alexa was having fun. She couldn't wait for people's reactions in the next few days when they realize that the goddess was in the town.

"Is it okay if she sleeps in my bedroom, mom?"

"What a great idea! In the meantime, you can sleep on the carpet!"

"Is that something to say to your daughter? We have an inflatable mattress, don't we?"

"I would never let the goddess sleep in that air bag!"

"No, it's fine. You guys have done a lot for me, that's enough."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. I'm not even worthy to receive all of this ..."

Caelia looks away, embarrassed. Alexa puts her hands on her shoulder and gives a smile of comfort.

"Don't worry."

The night went on like any other and Caelia already seemed to belong to the family. After dinner, Alexa took a shower carrying Caelia with her. Of course, she complained, she never took a shower with someone else before. After that, they changed clothes and went up to Alexa's bedroom, which was on the second floor. They talked about the things that happened until it was time for them to go to their beds.

"So goddess, how does it feel to sleep under an unknown roof for the first time?"

Said Alexa, looking at the ceiling of her house. Caelia was in an inferior position to her, lying on an air mattress that they placed on the floor.

"I don't sleep."

"Eh, really?"

"Only if I want to."

"Goddesses are really amazing."

"There's nothing incredible about it. It's just an ability to assist me with my goddess duties. I find humans much more incredible."

"You think so?"

"Yes. They're not strong, they're not fast, they have no magic skills and they are extremely fragile. Even so, they have outgrown all other races thanks to their intelligence and their ability to evolve. They have managed to overcome their weaknesses and create wonderful things that no one ever imagined. In the meantime, I'm stuck with my own dilemma. Will I be able to overcome my limits, just like the humans?"

Despite having managed to take the first step and find a decent home to live in, Caelia was still reluctant with her next challenges. The longer she stayed in that house, the more problems she could cause for Alexa, she needed to move on. But Alexa didn't care about that, she just wanted to be close to the goddess.

"I know you will. I will help you."
