Chapter 22: Mermaid V neck
Lucy was so embarrassed she could die, she took a peek at Aubrey, whose face was just as red as hers. It further intensified the burning feeling inside her.
'Oh god...', despite her embarrasment, she could still marvel at his fine nose and jawline. It made her swallow her own saliva. She was going to become a pervert very soon.
But the thoughts were burnt far away to the outer earth when a loud crash was heard from the door. Both of them faced the direction together in one swing.
Lucy's eyes went big the moment she saw a woman walking in with a look ready to kill. Her wavy blond hair fell past her shoulder, revealing a very sexy aura whenever it swayed from side to side.
"Damn you Lucy, you got a boyfriend but you didn't tell me anything! I thought we're friends!", Olivia Min shouted. She was so going to roast this woman for the information today.
What?
"What are you talking about, Olivia? Who is my boy-", Lucy's throat felt dry all of a sudden. Was she referring to Aubrey?
Lucy faced Aubrey with redness all over her face and ears. Olivia was too much!
But she didn't have the time to drown in her fantasy when she saw how silent he was being.
"Aubrey, what's wrong?", she started to get the idea.
Aubrey didn't trust anybody but her. He hadn't met with anyone yet since his escape. Lucy was the first person he was in contact with. His wariness towards others was still strong. He must be very surprised.
Lucy quickly got up from bed and she walked towards the fuming Olivia. She took her hand and she dragged her outside.
"Hey- you have to explain! I thought there's no secret between us!", Olivia started nagging. Which lit up some fire inside Lucy, she was waiting to explode.
And she did.
"You stay here and don't disturb us! I'll come right back but I won't tell you anything if you don't behave!", Lucy ran back to the room, leaving Olivia alone, who was shocked speechless.

"So he's really your boyfriend?! This is your first ever relationship! You've never had one before though all of those ants kept running after you!", Olivia's mouth was forming an O while her eyes also did the same.
"... yes.", Lucy bit her tongue. She didn't have a choice but to lie.
She couldn't disclose Aubrey's real identity to Olivia. Although she believed in her best friend, her conscience as a doctor wouldn't allow her to say anything.
Aubrey's mental health and their doctor-patient relationship was quite strange to begin with. They were more like friends now. But she still wouldn't want to take the risk. She knew Olivia was a woman with a big mouth though she was kindhearted.

If Olivia's mouth was too big to not even spare a single truth untold, then what about the breaking news she had just told her about having a boyfriend?! Olivia would tell the whole world about it!
Lucy started to panic. What had she done..
"Listen Olivia, my dear friend. I put my trust in you.. so please don't betray it. Don't tell anybody about this!", she said, her eyes shone with desperation and also pity. She tried 'method 1'.
"No way! That means only I knew about this?! No one from your family knew? Not even Mia??", Olivia was beyond surprise. Why was Lucy so secretive in her relationship?
"Gosh.. were you in a toxic relationship?! Like getting beaten or something?!", Olivia said, as if she was really able to make a guess.
"Do I look stupid enough to get into such toxic relationship?! You're unbelievable!", Lucy smacked her friend's arm. Forcing her to let out a wince.
".. Then why?!"
"Because it's private of course!", Lucy said, she was holding back to roll her eyes in annoyance.
Olivia didn't buy her excuse of course. She kept asking non stop until Lucy was defeated, but she didn't want to give up yet. She used 'method 2'.
"If you can't give me some space then forget the ball, I'm not going!", she threatened Olivia.
Seeing how silent Olivia had become, she knew it was a success. If Olivia wanted her to come, then she too, had to ask for something in return. She knew Olivia wanted to use her as a shield for her brother.
Stupid Olivia, if she wanted help then just say so. Lucy sighed. She would be willing to help no matter the cost. They were friends after all.
".. Fine. I get it.. you're no longer single like me, you're busy with your newfound mate.", Olivia backed away. She suddenly became sad.
"What the hell is with you?", Lucy faced her, bewildered.
"You won't have time for me anymore. You doctors are always busy, now your little time and attention is going to be spent on that guy.", Olivia said, sulking. She pointed her bottom lip in protest.
She knew how busy Lucy was ever since she became the head of her own department, they couldn't meet as much as before. She was reminded of their memories from school. She suddenly wanted to go back to those good old days.
Lucy wore a smile on her face, she patted her dear friend's head.
"Why are you acting like a kid now? I'm still your best friend am I?", she hugged Olivia from the side, giggling like an idiot.
Olivia's sad face turned bright when she heard Lucy. She was so easily persuaded. And was too easy to read. Since her face showed everything there was to see.
"Hm, if you said so then.. let's go!", Olivia pulled Lucy's hand and brought her upstairs.
"What are you doing? Where are we going?", Lucy asked.
"Geez.. we have a bouquet to attend by this evening. Don't you remember?", her words threw Lucy astray.
She forgot the damn ball! She slapped her forehead in anguish.
"Ah, you have to tell you boyfriend first. Since I'm in need of your help regarding my bro..", Olivia said, she smiled sheepishly when her real intention got busted too early.
"Hmph, thought so. You can use me however you want then.", Lucy let Olivia dragged her to her room.
They were now in Lucy's room, she had the biggest room in the house. Olivia went to the modern glass wardrobe at the left side of the room, where all of Lucy's clothes were stored and hung neatly.
The upper side of the shelf was full of luxurious handbags, lining up from right to left. While the lower part was arranged for branded heels and sneakers, from Louis Vuitton to Manolo Blahnik, and from Nike to Adidas.
"Have you seen the dress?", asked Olivia, she was referring to the dress she had sent.
"Nope.", Lucy laughed dryly.
"Well, that's to be expected. Since you didn't get mad.", this time, Olivia was the one who laughed.
"What do you mean?", Lucy raised her brow. She took the box Olivia was handing her, and she opened it. Soon after, her face lighted up in astonishment.
Olivia was ready to run for miles when she saw how angry Lucy was.
"Oh come on Olivia! This is a mermaid V neck!", Lucy scanned the long dress that could reach the floor if she was to wear it. It was an extravagant prom dress, dark green in color.
She saw the waist, the chest and the shoulder parts of the dress. She shook her head. This was too much, who was she trying to impress at such an event?!
"Well.. I'm the only daughter of the host, and as my one and only best friend, you must appear beautiful and sexy! No one can match you in your perfect height and boisterous breasts!", Olivia stated, she was proud to say that her friend Lucy was actually among those she considered very pretty, like a celeb.
Lucy had the best body shape she had ever seen in a woman, tall like a model, slender like an hourglass.
"Oh please Olivia, this ain't my style! I didn't even go to such event, how can I go there now and wear something like this?", she pointed towards the dress.
"Hey dear, no need to fret. I'll wear something more sexy than this dress of yours!", Olivia chuckled.
"That doesn't solve my situation, dear! I'll just wear something from my own collection.", Lucy shoved the dress to Olivia, only to find it in her arms again.
"No way, don't you know how much I've spent on this dress alone? I had to book it a month before the ball!", Olivia spoke. She was telling the truth.
Lucy's angry radar was at its peak. If she had book it a month earlier then did she really expect Lucy to attend? Lucy had no idea that she was being cornered without knowing.
Lucy heaved up a long sigh. She was always losing whenever Olivia was involved. Olivia was too hard headed. Nothing could change her mind. But that was not the only reason she always surrendered to the girl..
She remembered one time in highschool, a group of guys almost laid his hand on Olivia when they were going camping at the mountain for a school trip. She told Olivia to wait for her at the back of the mountain for a little prank. But she never expected that during those slip of time, some bastards were taking their chances.
She felt like something bad were going to happen if she was to proceed with the childish plan, so she went back to get Olivia. Only to see that her friend was ripped off her own clothes, shivering in fear. Lucy had lost all sanity at that time, she took all the guys down with her skills in taekwondo. They all ended up in hospital. But her guilt still lingered..
Lucy felt thankful for her own guts and instinct, she then found it as a new door to learning psycology thereafter.
Lucy then made up her mind. She would go to the ball.
