Chapter 64: Now The Top 10
The guy was giving his Id and sent him to the side and asked to sit down and continue to watch the event from the side.
James watched as the new student took his seat on the other side of the podium, he then continued to announce the next name on the list.
"The next person entering the academy with the rank of 299th and a score of 1200 is Melisa Miers"
A girl stood up from the crowd, just like the boy from before, she was very happy, she already knew that she passed and is entering the academy before her name was called because her score was higher than the previous person, she just didn't know which rank she belonged to.
Even though she is the second last person, it didn't matter to her, she made it to the academy, she also walked towards the podium where the beautiful student took her badge and handed her a new Id card which will act as her key for everything in the academy.
She was also sent to the side and took a seat next to the boy that passed before her, they even started to talk to each other because they knew they had to stick together, the ones who will rank above them will definitely look down on them so its best for the students at the bottom of the ranking to stick together.
James continued by calling out the names of the students who will be the students of the academy.
Now that the 300 students knew that they are going to be one of the students of the academy, they were relieved but they were also curious about their rankings, soon names started to be called and students walked up to collect their Ids
Once two hundred students were called up, the excitement started to build up because the top 100s are the good students that a teacher would want in their class.
Students from the previous year and teachers also started to gather up around the podium to check out these remaining 100 students, these students are expected to do the best in their future and each and every one of them might get very rich or have some influence in the society in the future.
James also got serious and started to call out names, the 100th ranked person got a nice round of applause as his name was called, this person also was very happy and felt lucky that he scored a little more than the person who was 101th in rankings.
He was called on the podium and given an Id card and his Id looked very different from the ones that were given to the previous 200 candidates, his card was silver in color which showed his status as one of the top hundred students.
He was then sent to the sidelines and wait for others to be called out as well, soon other 89 members were called, the top 90 students received their silver Id cards and were pretty happy, the ones in the top 20 had a clear sense of superiority on their face as they looked down on others.
They were the top 20 bunch, they would be the best future of this country, they will receive all the best treatment everywhere they go if they don't fuck up their reputations and rankings in the coming four years in the Academy.
But now they stopped discussing as it was time for the top 10 to be called out, these 10 will be the attention of everyone in this academic year because the computation between them will be fierce on who will take the rank 1 title from the ranked 1 student.
In the past it has happened, a rank 10th student climbed up the rank and became Rank 1, the other thing about these ten students are that they are leagues above the top 20 students who think very highly of themselves.
And now out of these ten students, eight of them are sitting in the front and looking at each other wondering who is rank 1 among them, they also looked at the two vacant seats beside them as two of them seem to be missing or either sitting behind in the local crowd.
"Now, its time, I know all of you have been waiting for these ten from the very beginning, they will be the faces of this year's students, they have proved themselves to be the best by scoring the most in the entrance exam and now they stand at the top.
I won't waste any more of your time now and will introduce them to you"
James said and stopped and took out a special envelope from his pocket, this envelope is gold in color signifying that the academy holds these students in high regards and if others want to get this kind of treatment they have to climb up the rankings and snatch the place from top 10 students.
Which is near impossible but that doesn't mean that it's impossible, this has happened before, a student in the past who was at rank 50 reached rank 7 at the end of his academic year.
The students in the top 20 are keeping a close eye on the list, they are hoping that the person who is ranked 10th's score is not that high from theirs so they might have a chance to challenge that rank.
"Ok, let's get started"
James said and smiled while his eyes were still looking for his sister.
