Chapter 9: Buying Skills
Kira stood up and patted his clothes. He walked out of the woods and returned back to his apartment.
"I'm hungry." He opened his refrigerator and picked up some ingredients. He then cooked his dinner for tonight.
After he eat, he took a bath to wash the dirt on his body.
"Hu~ feel so good..." He muttered in satisfaction. He leaned his back at the side of the bathtub and lowered his body.
"This is life..." He muttered as he looked at the ceiling.
If only there's alcohol and cigarette then he could truly enjoy this bath.
A grin appeared on his face as he recalled the thugs he met this day. They could get along if he met those thugs in his past life. He was sure that they would fight side by side.
He saw a brown pouch at the corner of his eyes. He recalled that his teacher gave this to him. He stood up and picked it up. He went to the bathtub and carefully looked at it.
"What's this?" He shook it and heard a strange sound inside. It sounds like a marble scratching against each other.
He slowly opened it and took a peek inside. He saw a pile of light blue stone emitting a blueish light.
"It's glowing!" He picked one of the stone and looked at it closely.
"What's this? There's no gem like this on earth!" He could clearly see that it was glowing with blueish light. There's no mistake this stone contained mana within.
He closed his eyes and concentrated. He felt a tremendous amount of mana inside the stone. His mana wasn't even half of the mana inside the stone and there's even a pile of it inside the pouch.
Just who exactly is that middle-aged man? He could easily gave him a pile of precious stone without batting an eye.
"Such a thing really exist!" He muttered in surprised. If he could absorbed it using the «Mana Gathering» skill he learned before then his mana...
He took a deep breath and calm himself. He then remember the «Essence Conversion» skill that he had.
He closed his eyes and activated the «Essence Conversion» skill while holding the blueish stone on his palm.
*Ding*
[Energy detected!]
[Do you want to convert the energy into essence point?]
"Yes, it works!" Kira exclaimed with a smile on his face. Finally, he found a way to gain essence points. He couldn't contained his excitement as he mentally said, 'Yes.'
*Ding*
[Conversion completed!]
[You've received 1,000 essence points!]
"Whoa! A thousand?! This piece of blue stone is equivalent to a thousand essence points!" Kira was surprised by the amount of essence points he received. A single piece of blueish stone was equal to a thousand essence points.
This only makes him more curious about the identity of the middle-aged man. This blueish stone wasn't an ordinary stone that power user could gain.
It seems that his guess was correct. That middle-aged man was a powerful man just like what he read in those novels back in earth. A hermit powerhouse that was in seclusion in that mountain.
"Hoho~" Kira looked at the stone on his palm and saw that it lost it's light. It seems that it became an ordinary stone after he converted the energy inside it.
He placed it at the corner and opened the pouch. He counted the number of the blueish stone.
There's nineteen blueish stone left inside the pouch. It means he will gain 19,000 essence points.
"Hahaha!" He couldn't contained his laughter anymore.
After a while, he calmed down and slowly converted the eighteen blueish stone into essence points. He left one blueish stone for him to improve his mana capacity.
He quickly checked his system.

He took a look and pondered what he should unlock first. He need 1,000 essence points to unlock one of these function. Well, he had 19,100 points so it doesn't matter anymore what he should unlock first.
"Let's see the skills first."
He quickly used 1,000 essence points and unlocked the Skill Function.

He heard a series of notification inside his mind. He then checked the other function and was shocked by what he saw.
"What?!" He exclaimed as he saw that he need ten thousand essence points to unlock any of the function. It seems that the amount will increase everytime he bought a new function. That's the only reason he could think.
He took a deep breath and opened the skill shop.

"This...?" Kira muttered while looking at the skill list. It seems that he couldn't buy unlimited number of skills here.
He could only see ten skill on the skill list and it seems that he need to refresh it if he doesn't want any of these skills. There's also the "Page". It looks like he need to unlock it before it became available. He looked at it and saw the requirement.
[Unlocked Page 2. Requirement: Creature Level Rank 2]
He doesn't need to use essence points in this case. It seems that he only need to raise his level to rank 2 creature and it automatically unlock itself. It's the same as Page 3. He need to raise his level to rank 3 creature. He don't have any problem with this.
Now... What should he buy? He had 19,100 EP left. With this he would be able to buy two or three skills.
The first thing that caught his eye was «Herculean Strength». This was the basic skill he saw when playing rpg games. This was a skill that could increase his strength by fifty percent.
There's was two more skill that was the same as «Herculean Strength». The «Stone Body» and «Extraordinary Physique». All of this skill could enhance his physiques to higher level. The difference of these two skills and the «Herculean Strength» were the two skills could enhance his defense unlike the «Herculean Strength».
The most expensive one was the «Stone Body». He checked the details of this skill and found that the benefits he will receive was only enhance defense. He doesn't know why it was the most expensive one if this was the only thing he could gain.
The «Extraordinary Physique». This skill doesn't gave him strength or defense like the other two skills. This skill gave him +50% recovery, +5% damage reduction, and +5% abnormal resistance. It's a pretty good skill for him.
We're finished about the three body enhancement skills. Now, let's proceed to check the other skills.
The «Health Recovery» and «Mana Recovery» skills. It was also the basic skill that could be found in any rpg games. He doesn't need to explain this as the name of the skill already explained it's effect.
Then, let's move to «Hyper Punch» and «Triple Stab» skills. These two skills were an attack skill. This was what he need the most right now. He doesn't had any attacking skill that could defeat his opponent.
"Okay, I will buy this! Let me see the other skill first." Kira said as he looked at the other skill.
The «Night Vision» was a skill that will let him see in the dark while the «Thermal Eyes» was a skill that will let him see the body heat of every creature. As long as the creature was producing a heat he could see it even if there's a wall in front of him. Both of this skill were pretty good.
The last was the «Calm Mind». This skill will let him calm in any kind of situation. This was not a passive skill but an active skill. The only problem was that he will become mentally exhausted if he use it for a long time.
"What a good skill!" Kira exclaimed. He also need this type of skill. He haven't experience his first battle against a power user so he was bound to get nervous. It was inevitable. No matter how much he prepared himself he will became surprised when he saw his opponents power.
He need this much more so that he could fight with a calm mind. He would be able to think logically when battling.
Kira didn't hesitated and directly used 6,000 EP to buy «Calm Mind».
As soon as he bought «Calm Mind» he felt a wave of pain inside his head.
"Argh!" He held his head with both of his hand.
The information about «Calm Mind» was directly imprinted into his mind.
After a few moments the pain disappeared leaving Kira gasping.
*Ding*

"Haa... Haa... That hurts!"
Kira massage his head before he looked at the system.
"Okay, I will buy the two combat arts and the «Stone Body»." Kira said as he bought the three skills at the same time. He gritted his teeth as he know that he will experience the same pain when he bought «Calm Mind» before.
"Arghhhhh!!"
