Chapter 22: ch 22
After my enlightening conversation with Savita I told the sultan my decision to marry and just like I predicted he was only mildly surprised by the fact that she was even there in the first place he thanked me saying it was a good solution as to what to do with her really displaying just how little he knew about the machinations that go on behind the scenes of the sultanate.
The following day I summoned my familiar in her lamia form to pose as a representative of my supposed patron through our bond I could communicate my desires and and have act in accordance to it following an extensive and thorough examination of this I made my way over to the Lernea estate as soon as I announced who I was the gates immediately opened and we drove up to residence and we were immediately greeted by Haifa and what appeared to be the head of the household a naga who would have been handsome in his time but now appeared to be balding and a ponch in his belly he reeked of desperation which is always good for a laugh as I stepped of the limousine he was about to say something but chocked on his words as I held out my hand helping my lamia out of the vehicle like a gentleman.
lamia:"I the emissary of of my lord here to finalize the agreement and help my master's progeny in his essence absorption you may refer to me as Shalu"
old naga:"Greetings mistress Shalu this lowly one is referred to as Manoj with me is my great granddaughter Haifa who is betrothed to the young master"
Shalu:"I didn't come to hear you ramble don't dither and lead us inside I wish to finish the task of my lord so I may return to his service" her tone was cold and imperious leaving no room for protest
Manoj:"This one apologizes right this way please" you can hear the humiliation in his voice its comedic gold
Along the way pass through an elaborate collection of art antiques in a lavish hallway with Manoj leading Shalu behind him then me and Haifa side by side as in this scenario Shalu out ranks everyone here and Manoj is just a guide along the way Manoj tries to impress Shalu with his family history or random descriptions of some relic or another which in all honesty were as impressive as they appeared but unfortunately for him she had no concept of their worth so he was met with an indifferent stare which quickly ended all talk leaving him how powerful her master be for her to not be even remotely interested.
When we finally arrived in what appeared to be a ritual hall you can see all sorts of aristocratic naga and their elders milling about some treating this as social event while others mostly the elders look nervous but still acting full of bluster clearly not everyone was aware of the death of their patron serpent as soon as were announced all attention is completely drawn to Shalu and the entire room falls silent apparently I underestimated the the sheer magnitude of the value naga place upon lamia and when people's minds start working again they realize she is only a servant to a high serpent the idea that she was only servant scared the shit out of everyone here including the elders as lamia can be high serpents themselves some are patrons to influential families which I didn't know at the time.
Shalu:"Who is charge of house Lernea and need to finalize our agreement then proceed with the ritual"
elderly naga:"I am my lady here is the semi plane's master control the signet pendant" he hands it over to and she tosses it to me with little respect leaving everyone yet again speechless
Shalu:"You are to manage it in the master's stead don't screw up" this was something I came up with to explain why it is under my control so her family couldn't complain "now lets move on to the ritual"
Being to shocked to argue they bring out Lernea's essence after they set up the relic to enhance the essence absorption process Shalu pulls Haifa into the the ritual area before she can speak Shalu activates the relic starting the ritual I begin absorbing the spiritual energy that no one apart from Shalu seems to notice while while she and Haifa began to naturally become refined by the Lernea's essence holding onto the spiritual power I feel myself undergo a qualitative change but there is too much power so that being the case I begin use the power enhance myself physically in order to try and bear it but it flowing in to fast I decided to burn some of it off by using it to further enhance Haifa and Shalu.
