Chapter 1: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Hero
Chapter 1
What the Truck?
Well, I guess you could say I got Izekai'd. I got Izekai'd hard.
It was a normal day in Tokyo, just going to Uni, and all. I was on my small allowance, and so I decided I would treat myself after a a math and a science test. How troublesome. I had about ¥500 and so I decided to buy myself a chocolate box, and the latest Shueisha Weekly Shonen Jump issue.
I don't know what it is, but manga, anime, and light novels, have always stuck around me since childhood. My uncle was a mangaka, he created the legendary series Super Legend Hero. My cousin was also a mangaka, but he was just an artist, he didn't write any of the story. His friend wrote the story, and it was called something like Racco 11 Go. I think he went famous or something, but whatever. So manga, anime and light novels were deeply rooted in my family, my other uncle and cousin are animators, and my mom is a light novelist.
Anyway, I came out of the shop and was deeply into the latest chapter of Boruto, when I was going to cross the road. I was midway in the street, and then I heard the heavy wheels of the truck coming up. I looked to my right, and I saw a massive red truck about to crash into me. The driver pressed the horn, but my body wasn't quick enough. Then it connected.
I was on the floor. I could see blood on my hands, and on my clothes. Some people crowded me, and started shouting loud things like 'Call 110!' 'Call 119!' Eventually I passed out. 'Hey maybe I'm gonna get Izekai'd' I thought.
Then I woke up.
I was in a hospital room, but it wasn't modern. It was almost like it was from the Middle Ages. I sat up. I looked around more, and I saw other patients in beds, it seemed like a traditional old Japanese hospital.
"YES!! I'VE BEEN IZEKAI'D!!" I shouted.
Then a nurse came and scolded me for disturbing other patients. They thought I was healthy and ready to go, so they gave me an ointment for a 'mysterious burn' on my right arm. A nurse then came and said "Okay, life up your shirt, I'm going to rub this ointment on you."
I did so, and when she saw my arm, she stumbled backwards. She put her hand to her face and then said "F-f-fire hero!"
When she said that, other nurses and patients turned around to look at me.
Then she immediately rubbed the ointment, and gave me clothes to wear.
I was told to go to the Great King's palace.
She then told me to go.
So I just walked out. Looked like my assumptions were correct. It was an old fantasy world-like setting. There were buildings lined up all the way down the road. People buying food, herbs and other necessities from stands. It smelt like there was a market nearby as well.
I just walked down the road casually, until I found myself....well....lost.
I saw a family of four walking down the other side of the street.
I approached them.
"Sorry, but do you know where the king's palace is?" I said.
Then the dad said "Yes, it's on the other side of town, just go straight from this road, and after 8 streets, turn right and there you'll find the king's palace."
"Thanks!" I said before walking straight.
After 10 minutes, I finally found myself at the 8th road, and so I took a right turn.
Then I saw a massive fortified building. There were fountains nearby it, there were also statues of people who looked like kings and queens. It was decorated with gold, it was mesmerising.
There were two guards at the gate, and so I went up to them.
"Um, excuse me?" I said.
Then the guards looked at me. "What do you want civilian?" One of them said.
"Um, so I kind of woke up in a hospital, and a nurse was going to apply ointment to me, then she looked at my right arm, and it had a symbol, of fire. Then she was like, oh, I need to go to the great kings palace." I said.
The guards then said "Let's see that symbol then."
So I pulled up my shirt, and then they saw the symbol.
"Ah, you are the long-awaited reincarnation of the fire hero, walk right in sir." One of the guards said.
So I thought nothing of what they said, as I walked in and then went inside the big building.
There I saw 5 other 20 year olds my age.
They were in a line, and in front of them was some old guy with a long white beard, sitting on a massive gold throne.
With his booming voice, the old guy said "Ah. Fire Hero, you're about 6 minutes late. Eh, at least you came, now what is your name Fire Hero?"
Suddenly the nerves flooded my veins. My hands began to sweat. "My name is Akinari Eitaro."
(note: in Japanese, names are reversed. For example Eitaro Akinari in English, is Akinari Eitaro. So the name of the protagonist is actually Eitaro Akinari.)
Then the old guy spoke again "Eitaro. Are you ready?"

ScrollNinja12 Eh, this is just a light novel. You don’t have to read it if you want, I just want some people to recognise me I guess, maybe it’ll get turned into an anime and it’ll get popular. No, I’m getting too ahead of myself. Anyway, enjoy I guess. That’s what these authors say right? God damn I’m such a character.
