Not someone he could just get angry and attack. 

The privilege he got to take his eyes when he kidnapped Emily, it's not easy now. 

If he showed that bastard that she's someone he cared for, Emma will be his target.

Max would have acted stubborn, but Emma had just escaped this same issue in her life.

He didn't want to be the reason she will face another. Especially from a psycho like Long Yi.

He didn't want to be a reason Emma wouldn't have peace of mind again.

The tone in which she called his name when he turned to leave was a desperate one and he couldn't even answer her.

It seems the best way is to push back whatever he has started to feel for her and make plans on how to deal with Long Yi first.
