Chapter 4: Spiritual Totem

A bow, a long spear, and finally two huge swords which formed an X inside the orb.

These three Armamental Affinities were what Elijah picked after thinking for a long while. Regardless of which of the three he picked, Elijah was sure that they would greatly aid him and the three elements he had picked already.

Shooting arrows made of fire and lightning while escaping from all attacks by travelling through space.

A long spear covered in lightning and a blazing fire on the tip which would explode when he struck his enemies.

Two huge swords which would need a lot of strength to swing, but would definitely deal huge damage with every swing.

Hesitating regarding which to pick among these three, Elijah pushed the bow away since picking it was the same as becoming a mage who could only use elemental arrows to attack.

Next, Elijah spent a long time debating between what to pick amongst the spear and the twin greatswords.

In the end though, Elijah's inner boy won the debate and he chose the huge swords. The reason however wasn't because he found it better than the spear in any technical ways. Instead, it was completely due to how cool he would look while using two huge swords.

Seems like no matter how hard one tried, no man could resist looking cool and dashing.

Well, it wasn't really any problem because Elijah couldn't decide which would be a better weapon for him between the spear and the two swords.

Adding onto the three elemental orbs Elijah had picked before, the young man had picked a total of four orbs just like the dragon had told him to.

Noticing this, the dragon simply glanced towards Elijah and his choice before closing its eyes not showing how it felt about his final decision.

Instead, in the next second Elijah felt a mysterious pressure falling down on him which caused his consciousness to slowly disappear from this place and along with it all of the unpicked orbs also disappeared.

Waking up inside what seemed like a huge crater, Elijah had no time to concern himself with how his body was right now.

Closing his eyes as soon as he opened them, Elijah entered his Sea of Consciousness hastily since he was desperate to find out if what he experienced was real and if he really obtained a total of four affinities.

After all, no matter how vivid and lifelike everything felt, Elijah wanted to make sure that what he saw wasn't a dream.

Arriving inside his Sea of Consciousness which despite being nothing more than a pitch black space allowed him to see every inch of it without any problem, Elijah's breathing turned hard upon noticing the four orbs floating inside the darkness.

Yes!!!

FOUR AFFINITIES!!!

Screaming on the inside from joy, Elijah couldn't wait to grant all of the Spiritual Essence elemental capabilities.

However before he could do that, Elijah saw something which made his breathing further speed up. If such a thing was possible that is.

At the centre of his Sea of Consciousness, surrounded by the four floating orbs was a creature which Elijah almost failed to notice due to how small and dusty yellow coloured it was.

'That dragon?!'

Trembling as he remembered the huge dragon he saw in his dream, Elijah couldn't match that overbearing creature with the tiny beast which seemed more like a snake right now.

But, that wasn't what Elijah cared about at all. Instead, he was filled with endless happiness upon spotting this fifth foreign element inside his Sea of Consciousness. Excluding the four orbs which granted him Elemental and Armament Affinity, this fifth element which was a beast had Elijah more excited than any of the others.

And why wouldn't it?

Almost any idiot on the path of Spiritual Cultivation would understand what such an element inside their Sea of Consciousness was.

A Spiritual Totem!

Yes! A Spiritual Totem!

Unlike Elemental and Armamental Affinity which almost nine in ten living creatures possessed, a Spiritual Totem was so rare that only one in a million, if not ten million living creatures possessed it.

As for what they did, each of them was unique and granted the cultivator they were inside of different capabilities.

A special ability to turn into a beast, and conjure a weapon out of thin air, were two of the most commonly obtained abilities. As for the rare ones, they included summoning living beings to fight for them, releasing poison out of their bodies, and so on.

For now, Elijah didn't know what his newly discovered Spiritual Totem did, but there was no hurry. One by one Elijah would slowly find out everything about it.

But for now, Elijah quickly needed to grow strong so that he would be capable of completing the assignment he came inside this forest to fulfil in the first place.

Opening his eyes to the outside world, Elijah only now discovered that his body had been completely healed with not even a scratch of the previous terrifying injuries present to serve as proof that he was on the verge of dying a few hours back.

While feeling that it was a pity that his Spiritual Totem had only awakened now and not in the past, Elijah walked out of the huge hole in the ground while wondering that happened to the cold sensation of water he felt before fainting.
