Chapter 31: Exchange....
The greek hounds pounced on him, Max caught two in his hands and the other four jumped on him. Max started laughing, the licking was kinda ticklish , especially in his ear. All the six started licking his face, neck and palms between snorts and grunts.
"Awww...who's a good girl? Oh yes you are. Yes, yes you are too. you are a good girl too....." Max was lying on the ground getting snuggled by six beautiful greek hounds. Even Dee was charmed by their friendly playfulness and their genuine affection they were showing for Max. She too started rubbing her head, licking her nose and simultaneously getting licked by the dogs.
Artemis was about to say something but Max beat her to it, "I apologise if I was rude. But it was false, what I had told. Zeus and Apollo have a tendency to ruin your friendships or even general acquaintance, driving them to death or despair. By the way what are their names.?" Max asked to the hunters.
By this time, all the girls gathered around us, curious to what the boy was talking about to their Goddess. "The brown with white spots are twins: Aretha and Ariadne. The two full black one are also twins: Calissa and Carissa. And the three grey ones are triplets: Kallea, Kallini and Kalliope." The only one with the blue hood replied pointing at each dog.
Max looked at her recognizing who she, her clothes gave it away, "Zoë Nightshade huh? How's it hangin' " Her hand on the shaft of her spear, she asked, "Do I know you?" "No but I know you" he replied.
Max changed the topic and said, "So... Is their anything my humble self could do for the Lady of the Hunt?"

They had talked for a while swapping stories, till they saw a mini van driven by Argus come up the road to the clearing they currently were in. The campers piled out of the van, some rushing(all of them girls) to meet Artemis, and some started examining the dead boar's carcass.
Artemis looked really uncomfortable and had a forced smile on her face, [Guess she doesn't like big groups, looks like she wants to be left alone] Max chuckled to himself, "Alright guys! that's enough. Show's over, move on. Hey Charles!" Max called out spotting Charles Beckendorf near the boar touching and examining the other uncut tusk still on its head.
Charles come whistling "Damn! That is one big brute right their. Let me guess you just chopped its head clean off..." Max laughed and handed his Leviathan axe to Charles.
The axe head had little to no edge, chips and cracks everywhere and the wooden handle was about to break. And Max also pointed to his bike and asked, "So?..." Charles took a moment and sighed, "The axe is doable but the bike is a problem, I'm gonna have to take it apart and analyze the damage. Can't tell you before. Sorry Max." He said patting Max on the shoulder.
Max nodded and suddenly had an idea, he took the boar tusk which looked and sounded like a metal when hit with his axe, and gave it to Charles. "Can you do something with it?" "I'll see what I can do" Charles nodded and went away curiously looking at the tusk.
Max's axe was in a bad shape because of the tusk, the thick neck and those annoying bristles. He had a difficult time chopping it off.
Max went to Artemis and her group to say his farewells and get going. "Lady Artemis, we are going back to camp, but before I go, there is something I need to tell you and Ms.Nightshade." Max brought them aside, "The Titans are making a move, there are traitors to Mt.Olympus hiding in our camp. The Titan General, Atlas...yes him..." Max gave a pointed look at a shocked Zoë, "His forces have started stirring and most likely will show its face in an year or so. Do not go looking, keep your hunters and especially your lieutenant safe. He will use them as bait.
Oh, and one more thing, this is a request. I would like to meet Zeus in a ☆month☆ or so, I'll be bringing the traitor and his Master bolt to Olympus. I would suggest for Hades be allowed in Olympus for that day alone as I have information and a vision of the future." Artemis was silent, this boy kept giving such useful information without demanding a price. The most intriguing thing was that she could not detect a single lie.
Artemis also was of the opinion that herself and this boy would not see eye to eye. But she realized he was just cautious and did not like her brother not her. The more he talked the more she understood something. War was near.
"Why are you telling ME all of this, you could have withheld this or told someone else? Why us?" Artemis asked. "Because you were a good friend to my father. But the main reason being, I saw her die." gesturing at Zoë. "She was one of the first victims in the bloodshed that followed. I'm not going to tell any further as I do not know how it will affect the future. But please dod not tell anybody of this. You know how people try to change their future only to fall into the very same future they try to avoid."
Max also gave her the coordinates to the Golden Fleece so that she may use it to heal her hunters if they ever get injured. Artemis promised to answer any Iris message he connected to her or her lieutenant, if she was busy.
"Maximus..." this was the first time she called out his name. "before we part, I shall give you a gift for saving my daughter and giving us this invaluable information to us."
"I do what I can. Besides having the Lady of the Hunt as an ally is a gift in itself." Max said shaking her outstretched hand.
"Haha...yes. But I will give you this..." saying so, she touched her bow to Max's goat tattoo. "This will be useful and I have added something to it." Artemis said grinning.
"Wha-"
