Chapter 16: Simple Act
Leilein was now fine and looking good except for the fact that today was her mom's wedding day. She had promised to herself that she will not go there and she gave her blessings.
She helped Mark and his kids to freshen up and wore their matching suits. She smiled bitterly when the kids looked at her.
"Noona, won't you come with us?" Jungsik asked, he was pouting, hoping that she would fall for his actions.
She chuckled and stood up before crouching, "I'm afraid I won't go. Don't worry, your dad will be there. Aren't you happy to meet grandma?"
Jung Soo and Jung Sik nodded their head and pouted. They were clutching her shirt. She laughed at them and looked at Mark.
"I smell bad, don't come near me," she told them but her words just slipped on their other ear.
"are you sure you won't go? Even at the reception?" he asked while buttoning his suit. He was still looking fine at the age of 27. His hair was like the goblin actor, Lee Dong Wok messy parted light bangs. He sure was going to catch women's attention.
"so, did you practice already?" she asked him, who was looking at the ceiling.
He nodded and told her, "I'm going to introduce myself as mom's nephew. I already told her and she hastily agreed."
She nodded and patted his shoulders. She grabbed the flowers on the kitchen table and gave it to her brother. "tell mom that this is the only thing I could give to her. If her bouquet is prettier than this, then let her use her own,"
She kissed them goodbye and stood at the front door and watched then drove away. After they left, she started cleaning the house again, rearranging the furniture in the living room, making a new look. After she finished, she looked at the time and took a quick bath and wore a simple dress. She had dress codes and she loved it.
She was wearing a white and blue striped layered dress with a ribbon on her side waist. She paired it with a navy blue Muleshoe. Her natural blue hair was styled in double chignon and she just put a light make up on her face. She didn't feel like putting glam make up or glossy.
Her leg was a lot better and she could move around. She didn't need to use crutches anymore but they still warned her to not walk too much.
She took her bag and went outside. She locked the house and called a taxi. She stopped by the nearest grocery and bought necessary foods.
When she was lining up, she saw a silhouette of her classmate before.
"Isn't she the one who sabotaged me because she was forced by Jennie?" she whispered to herself.
She was working here and when it was Leilein's time, she looked up and she froze. Leilein just smiled at her, wanting to forget the history between the two of them.
The girl mumbled a sorry but Leilein told her to shrug it off and forget it. She had already forgave her a long time ago. She even gave some tips for her and had asked to meet her as soon as she finish her work there.
Leilein went back to her house and had already put the foods at their respective places and went to a coffee shop, near the grocery store.
She waited for a while until she spotted the girl. She cleared her throat and stood up to greet her.
"Hi, I'm glad that you really came" she said, warmly welcoming her. She pointed at the seat and awkwardly smiled at her.
"Uhh... Hello" the girl bowed and took her seat opposite her.
"May I ask what's your name?" she started first, seeing as the girl was fiddling with her fingers.
"m-my name.. Is.. Gracie", the other one said, still looking down on her lap.
"alright Gracie, don't be so stressed meeting me." she laughed, heartedly.
"it's just that... My family needs me.. I have to work..."
Hearing that, Leilein jerked up and asked her what's going on. The girl was uncomfortable at first but soon, she told her because she felt that she could trust her. She just didn't know why she blurted sensitive topics but something in her told her that she could trust Leilein.
Leilein found out that Gracie worked everyday after classes but on Saturday and Sunday, she has two additional jobs to do in order for her family to eat. She doesn't have time for herself as she work everyday. She has four other younger siblings, one of them was a second year college, he is working too, the other two was in their highschool and the youngest was in his Elementary.
Leilein thought for a while and suggested that she would help them but Gracie refused to as they were not relatives, let alone, friends, but Leilein insisted and she even offered to let them stay in her house after she found out that they're living in a very small apartment.
Gracie hesitated and thought about it deliberately before she agreed. She hugged her and cried a river. She was so sorry after what she did to her but she already forgive her. She thought that she just found a gem today.
"why are you doing this?"
She stopped for a while before she stated her simple answer, "Uh...helping you? Until you find a suitable place, you can stay at my house. I'm trying to do something,"
Actually, when she saw Gracie, she had a feeling that Mark will find her suitable for him. She wanted to pair them up and knowing her story, she just wanted to help.
