Chapter 5: Three

*Just a little warning that there are some very tiny, tiny triggering mention in this chapter.*

Jung Hoseok

It's amazing. The way Areum talks and how her eyes would look at me reminded me so much of Yoona. It freaky how much they look alike. But I know she is not my little Yoona. I saw her lifeless body with my own eyes.

My family has been cursed with bad luck. Especially for my lovely Grandma who has lost so many loved ones in her life.

My Grandma had gotten married to my Grandpa and they had 3 sons and a daughter. Their eldest son, my uncle that I have never met, had lost his life when he was drafted into the war. Soon after my uncle's death, my Grandpa had also passed away due to cancer. I have never met my Grandpa either but my father told me my Grandma's heart started weakening after the loss of my Grandpa.

My Aunt married a year after and moved away to live with her husband. But he was abusive and hurt her constantly. My Aunt refused to tell anyone because she was worried about my Grandma's heath. She lost her life due to her abusive husband. She found him cheating on her one night and got angry with him and fought back for the first time in her life. She wanted a divorce and to come back home to stay with Grandma, but he hit her to the point where she didn't respond anymore. And then he and his mistress ran away and my father found my Aunt's body the next day.

My Grandma's heart had worsened upon the news of her only daughter. She was so angry and vowed to find that bastard who took her daughter's life. My father and Grandma made sure to look all over Korea for that murderer. After 2 years, they finally found him living in the countryside with his new family and a new identity. They put him in jail and he was sentenced to life in prison.

My father was the third child and second son of the family. When he married my mom and they had me and Yoona, we were the joy in my Grandma's life, especially Yoona. She loved us both and spoiled us, but her love for Yoona was different. Yoona and Grandma had a special bond. Grandma had a name just for Yoona. She was Grandma's little Nana. When Yoona was still in love with music, she would come home and play the guitar and sing to Grandma. They would have a little dance party and gossip all day about boys that Yoona thought were cute.

When we all thought life was going well, our youngest Uncle and his little family got involved in a terrible car accident. He had just recently gotten married to his wife and they were heading back home from dinner when a drunk driver hit their car. They both lost their lives, along with the unborn child in my Aunt's womb.

My Grandma fainted when she heard the news of my uncle. She was hospitalized due to the shock of losing her youngest son and his little family. Her heart was weakening and we were told that she needed a heart transplant as it's become hard for her heart to beat on its own. But my grandma refuses to get a transplant. She said she was getting old and there are other young people in the world who need a heart more than she does. It angered my father that she has given up on her life already.

So when we found out about Yoona's death, my father had told me to write letters to my Grandma in Yoona's place. He couldn't lose his mother after just losing his daughter. We both knew that Yoona's death would be the final blow for my Grandma's weak heart. So even though it hurts a lot, I wrote letters to my Grandma pretending that my sister was still alive and well in America.

We came back to Korea just to convince Grandma that Yoona was well and brought back the forged letter. I will never forget the smile on my Grandma's face as it lit up brightly. I left for America again, pretending to be away on a business trip, so that I could receive Grandma's letter and write to her in Yoona's stead for the past month.

Grandma's birthday is coming up soon and she had been asking for Yoona to come back to Korea, but I just kept putting off the visit saying it was exam time and it might be hard to come back to Korea. I'm running out of things to write to Grandma about. I don't know how much longer I could do this.

And then I received a call from Namjoon telling me about a girl who looked like Yoona. He said he thought it was Yoona at first and followed her and that's where she almost got ran over but Namjoon had pulled her back to safety. He told me she was cursing at her parents and screaming into the night about how they left her alone and how much she hated her parents. So he knew right then, that it couldn't have been Yoona.

I didn't believe Namjoon at first, but my desperation was growing. If there truly was a girl who looked like Yoona, then maybe I can get her to help me. I just needed her to persuade Grandma to get a heart transplant. I needed Grandma's heart to be stronger. Even my parents agreed to the plan and wanted me to make sure I could convince Areum to help us.

But as the time grew closer for me to come back to Korea to meet Areum, I decided to cancel our meeting. On my flight back to Korea, I just couldn't believe that there really was another face out there that would resemble Yoona.

But then I saw her by chance in the streets.

I was shocked at first at how much alike they looked and I ended up unconsciously following after her. And when she finally turns around to meet my eyes, I just couldn't hold back the tears. She looked exactly like my little Yoona. The same eyes, nose, and mouth.

I knew it was wrong of me to ask Miss Areum for such a favor, but it's the only option that I have right now. And I pray that Grandma would never leave me but if her time is to come to an end, at least she will leave in peace thinking that her granddaughter is still alive and happy. My Grandma has suffered enough already. I don't want her to leave in agony and pain from losing her only granddaughter.

"Give me your bank account number Areum. I'll wire the money tonight."

"What are you? Some sort of rich chaebol?"

I let out a small chuckle before my hand had unconsciously reached out to pat the top of her head, just like how I use to do to Yoona. I smiled down at the girl who was just a tad bit taller than Yoona.

"Make sure you call me Hoseok Oppa. I'm your older brother from now on."

"Hoseok Oppa?" Areum asks as her whole body shivers before her face and eyebrows scrunched up as she winces. My hand had automatically fallen back down to my side as I watch her cringed at what I had just said.

"It sounds so weird calling you Oppa. I don't even know you. Plus I've never really had a person to call Oppa."

"You have me now Miss Areum."

We both locked eyes for a second before her phone rings, breaking our contact.

"Hi, Namjoon what's up?"

I was standing close to her so I could hear Namjoon speaking through the phone.

"Areum, are you available to come back to work? Haejin had an emergency and she left for the night."

"Oh sur-" I grabbed her phone, cutting her off from answering Namjoon. I brought her phone up next to my ear and spoke to my friend.

"Areum will no longer be work for you Namjoon. She's mine now."

"What the hell? Who is this? Wait, Hoseok?"

"Yeah, it's me."

"What the hell dude? You told me you wouldn't meet Areum and now you are together with her?"

"Sorry, Joon. I'll explain everything to you later, but I need Areum now. She'll be working for me. I won't let her work in your club anymore."

"Alright, cool dude. You were a priority anyways. I kept her in the club only so that you could meet her, but your stupid ass chickened out."

"I didn't chicken out! I just-" I met eyes with Areum who was silently laughing and giggling her butt off at Namjoon and my conversation.

"-Just shut up man! We'll talk later." And I hung up her phone.

"Clumsy, dimpled idiot. You're lucky you are my best friend..." I mumbled to myself under my breath.

I quickly entered my phone into Areum's phone and called myself so that I could get her number. Once my phone started ringing, I hung up and gave her phone back to her.

"Sorry about that Miss Areum."

"Oh, it was quite entertaining."

"Anyways, I have your number now so text me your account number."

"You're just going to wire me money? Just like that? Shouldn't we like, write a contract or something? I could end up just taking the money and run off with it."

I let out a gently laugh at this girl. She really was something else. Of course, I wasn't going to send her the money until after she signed a contract, but I had to go home to prepare the contract first.

"I'll be sending the contract soon Miss Areum. I'll need you to sign it first before I wire the money to you. The moment your signature is on it and I have a copy of the contract, the money is all yours."
