Chapter 3: Lea’s and Leo’s progress
I haven't thought of myself for a while after mom and dad divorced but seeing Leo lively talk like this makes me feel in love. Leo is a strange kid, he always assumes about people's sexuality and mostly correct. He's also the only that helped me figure out my sexuality, too. His parents divorced not long ago, he cried and I guess I helped him get through bad times. Accidentally fell in love with him without noticing.
Everyone looked at me with a strange face after I said that stupid sentence.
"I was kidding" I swear I will never say that ever again.
"So... wanna play?!" Said Leo
"Hold on, my mom's calling." I said
"Yea,mom?"
"Lea, your mom fainted!" A unfamiliar voice is on the line.
"May I ask who you are and why do you have my mom's phone?" I asked
"I am Fred, your mom's date. We were having dinner and she suddenly fainted. We're currently on the way to the hospital. I need you to come here,too." She hasn't taken any medicine lately. That's probably why she fainted.
"All right! Send me the location. I will be right there." I said
"Mrs.Smith, my mom collapse and currently on her way to the hospital. I have to go! I-"
"Darcy," Mrs. Smith snapped "and Leo, you two go with Lea, make sure she's ok. Hurry up and get going." Wow, I never thought that she would do that for me. I saw Iris eyes for a second and it looks really dull.
"It's ok, I can drive. My elbow is healing and it's better now."
"Because it's healing, that's why they have to drive you there." Iris said
"I'm sorry." I said. We walked out to my car. Darcy took the key and I set up the address. Leo and I sit at the back.
"Lea, don't worry it's gonna be ok!" Darcy try to calm me down.
"I'm ok." I started to bite my nails
"No you're not. Whenever you bite your nails, you're stressed out." Leo said
"I'm-" Leo pulled me over and hug me. This is the first time Leo hug me.
"Don't talk. Just breath." I started to burst into tear.
"I'm so scared, I don't want to lose my mom. I don't want to move in with my dad's family. I don't want to be orphaned." Those words just bursted out of my mouth.
"Lea, look at me. Lea!" I looked at him "Your mom is not gonna go anywhere. She's probably worked too hard. That's all."
The drive is very long. It's an hour drive to the hospital. I was so tired after the crying; I fell asleep on Leo's shoulder and he fell asleep on my head. To be honest, I like it a lot. I woke up with my wrist aching so bad. Darcy said we'll check it up after visiting my mom. Leo is awake after hearing my conversation with Darcy.
After a nice nap on Leo's shoulder and my wrist hurting so bad, we arrived at the hospital. I rushed at fast as I can to the receptionist to ask where's my mom. They said she's awake and might need times to check up. Then, I walked to the my mom's room. I was so relieved to see her again.
"Mom. Are you ok?!"
"I guess I was stressed out when the new boss arrived at our company."
" I was so worried." I guess I can't deny it
"C'm here" mom said. We hugged for a while.
"Hey Darcy! And you are Leo, right?" Mom greets them
"Hi Ms.Wells" Darcy and Leo said at the same time. That's kinda weird
"I'm gonna go check on my wrist. It started to hurt not a while ago. Leo, can you come with me?"
"Excuse me, Ms.Wells." Leo said
"Thanks for coming." I said as we closed the door.
"No problem. Should we apologize to your cousin later? She seems worried and mad at the same time." Said Leo
"You saw her face too? I guess that's the least we could do." I said
"And- um- I'm sorry; I slept on you." My face is burning hot.
"It's not your fault. I slept on your head, too, remember?" We reached the reception. I just smile at Leo.
"Hi, I want a check up on my wrist. It hurt real bad for some reason."
"All right, fill this form for me and the doctor will be right there."
"I'm sorry but I can't. My wrist is hurt." I said that because 1)it's true I can't 2) I want to go straight to the doctor 3) I don't wanna wait.
"Oh I can do it." Leo said. Damn Leo.
"U know, I could've got away without filling the form right?!" I whisper as we sit down.
"Oh, god. I'm sorry!"
"Don't apologize. Fill the form in for me."
After an 15 mins wait, I finally could see a doctor. My wrist got checked up and a bone got cracked. And I have to wear a cast. The doctor said I can't drive or play volleyball after my elbow, ankle and wrist fully healed. Well- that's just got even greater.
"If u need a drive, just call me." Leo said
"Thanks, Leo. You have been so nice to me lately."
"So do you! You helped get through my parents' divorced." We just smiled.
