Chapter 18: More Trouble

Having the Goblin Strategist take command on the attack, my summoned army advanced towards the direction opposite of what the enemy army took. Since I have no strategic skills, why not let a monster specializing in tactics take the lead?

Now that the army is steadily marching towards the enemy dungeon, I focused again on the defense of my dungeon. The casualties on my side numbered more than 50. On the first floor where about 30 Orcs and more than 50 Goblins Swordsmen are defending, this is a huge blow to the first floor defenses. The reason for the 30 Orcs on each floor was because I used the leftover DP to double the numbers of monters for defense, and add some gimmicks, making it harder to traverse the dungeon. But now that more than 50 have been killed in my dungeon, the first floor has pretty much paper defense right now because of the loss of manpower.

But thanks to the DP rewarded when I eliminated three dungeons from the game, I was able to supply extra manpower to the defense of the dungeon. The only problem is they are unable to enter the dungeon and I can only spawn up to 30 meters from the entrance of the dungeon. One bright side is I am able to place spawners, making it inexhaustible and being able to buy time for the monsters inside my dungeon to replenish.

"Haahh…"

While sighing to point out my mental tiredness, out of thin air, a tray containing food appeared complete with, utensils, beverages and a dessert. The tray gently lowered itself onto the table I created using the excess DP, as if saying 'EAT ME!'

*Grumble*

The sound of my stomache rumbling made me realize that I hadn't eaten in about 10 hours after the start of the game. Scooping the food with the spoon, I brought to my mouth.

"! Delicious!"

Starving like a wolf, I greedily feast on the tray of food in front of me.

"Haah… I'm full…"

A few minutes later, the tray filled with food has now been reduced to only scraps. Putting down the spoon on the tray, the tray vanished, along with the scraps and utensils.

"Haahh… *Burp*"

The sound of a burp, portraying a satisfied stomache echoed through the damp cave room. I leaned back on the backrest of the chair and relaxed for a moment, even just to ease a little bit of stress. Sadly, it only lasted for a moment.

On the screen of my dungeon menu, a huge monster forced its way through the first floor, crushing all in its way. Because of the less manpower on the first floor, the monsters there were hardly any use to delay, less stop it. Also, because of its size, the pitfalls were rendered ineffective.

"UUUUUOOOO!!!"

The roar of a raging monster echoed through the passageways. I was shocked for a moment, not because of its size or my summoned monsters unable to stop it, but because its roar was able to reach the core room. Even with the microphones scattered throughout the dungeon, I was able to distinguish the natural roar from the roar picked up by the microphones.

Because of that roar, it dawned on me that the lone monster raiding my dungeon was no ordinary monster. I was tempted to use appraisal on this monster, but again, the rules forbid it and I may be disqualified.

"All monsters, gather on the third floor! Abandon the first and second floor!"

I commanded all defending monsters to gather on the third floor instead of the fourth floor. Counting in their stamina and time to move, the third floor is the best choice. I don't want to let the monsters expend their energy from running all the way down to the fourth floor. Also, they can rendezvous and set up defenses earlier to stop the raiding monster.

Using the first floor monsters to delay its movements, even just a little, the second and the fourth floor monsters rushed to arrive at the third floor, while the third floor monsters started on setting up barricades, traps and defenses.

The traps used were an oversized bear trap, something I bought using my excess DP for defenses against large tyoe monsters. Using the darkness of the cave and using a paint mechanism to color it black. The traps blended perfectly in the dark. I just hope that the monster doesn't have night vision. Of course, the defending monsters were notified about traps, via my self, to ensure they don't fall victim to it.

Thankfully, ten minutes later, the monsters from the second and fourth floor were able to arrive at the third floor and readied theirselves for the disaster to come. The first floor monsters were also able to delay the monsters not by attacking, but confusing it in the maze-like rooms.

The tensed atmosphere increases and spread through the defending monsters. I too, am also included. Butterflied continued to swirl in my stomache as cold sweat ran down my back.

We waited for a few minutes, and then, it appeared. With a figure boasting three meters in height, with muscles that looks as hard as steel, and a club as huge as a full grown tree.

It quickly ran towards the barricades, not noticing the oversized bear traps. The monster triggered a bear trap, causing it to slow down. While struggling about with the pain, it stepped on another bear trap, causing it to fall down. Now that its mobility has been taken, Orcs and Goblin Swordsmen ran out of the barricade to assault the grounded monster. The Orcs moved ahead of the Goblin Swordsmen in order to try and stop an attack if the monster retaliated. Because of its figure, I can predict that if it swung its weapon at the small-statured goblins, even if it has its mobility taken and is lying on the ground, there is no doubt that the Goblin Swordsman will be sent flying.

"UUUUUUUOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"

The giant monster seeing that my summoned monsters were advancing at a fast speed, roared out a shout of intimidation, causing my summoned monsters to stop in their track. With just that small of a margin, the monster broke free from the traps and stood up.

My summoned monsters regained their senses and immediately tried to attack. The giant monster swung its giant weapon towards my summoned monsters. The Orcs quickly formed a line and tried to block or negate the giant swing of the monster. The weapon collided with the Orc group, resulting in the sound of metal clashing against metal.

The Orcs were forced back about five meters and some fainted due to the impact. But because of the time gained from the blocked swing of the monster, the Goblin Swordsmen were able to reach the monster's body and repeatedly launch attack after attack. Cuts formed on the monster's body and blood seeped out of it. The monster seeming annoyed at the attacks of the Goblin Swordsmen, twisted its body and used a sweeping kick like that from a fighting game. The kick launched several Goblin Swordsmen to the air and knocked them back, some of them even died due to a bad landing posture. The weapon also drew a circle arc around his body and hit the Orcs from behind, crushing them because of the impact. Chunks of meat and blood scattered on the dungeon's floor and wall, a scene straight out of a gore movie.

My summoned monster retreated from the front lines and back behind the barricade. The monster had a grin on its face and chased the retreating monsters, crushing those unlucky enough to not be able to run away.

When my surviving monsters reached the barricade, they retreated once more. Seeing this, the monster had a vulgar smile on its face, chasing them even beyond the barricade.

When the monster charged through the barricade, the barricade was destroyed and debris scattered on the ground. But this action proved fatal to the monster.

Because of the barricade's size, it was able to hide a pitfall big enough to fit giant monster. Its body fell because of gravity, but its hand grabbed on the ledge to avoid plunging down into the depths. The pitfall was about 6 meters deep and 4 meters wide, and at the bottom, spikes made of rock were scatted about. One wrong step and this trap can annihilate an adventurer party.

The hand that grabbed the ledge was attacked by the retreating monsters. Orcs bashed at it with their clubs, and Goblin Swordsmen slashed at it with their swords.

The monster didn't give up and used its other hand to grab on the ledge and pulled itself up, but this action sealed its fate. Because of that action, its head went above the pitfall, but both its arms were occupied with grabbing the ledge, making it impossible to defend itself, swords pierced its eyes, and clubs smashed its nose, while blood sprayed on the Orcs and Goblin Swordsmen.

Writhing about in extreme pain, the giant monster lost its grip and plunged into the deep pitall riddled with spikes.

"GRAAHHHHHH!!!!"

The monster roared a cry of anguish one last time before meeting its demise.

I slumped back on my chair as I felt relieved from the passing of a dangerous threat. If I didn't place a giant pitfall trap there during the building stage, this would have been checkmate. This was also another reason why I designated the third floor.

"Note to self, always keep extra DP in case of times of crisis."

I engraved that on my heart so that I never make that same mistake again. I tend to use all of my points when building dungeons in the game "Fantasy Dungeon Simulator" back at Earth and also use my money to buy new phones, game consoles, and games. But now that it happened in real life, I now understand what it means to save in times of unprecedented rain.

While I was reminiscing about the past, a report arrived about my attack force reaching the enemy dungeon.

Now, I wonder how will they attack?
