Chapter 16: Dungeon vs. Dungeon vs. Dungeon

~ Third Person POV ~

A certain dungeon master's core room…

"Tch… Damn Kindley, rushing me at the start of the battle. Skeletons! Form a barricade! Let no one pass!"

An undead lich could be seen spitting out commands on the screen. On said screen, skeletons, one after the other, picked up some rocks, sticks, anything as long as it can hinder the advance of the enemy forces.

The dungeon of this certain dungeon master was a crypt type, with a cemetary at the entrance, and a labyrinth inside the tomb.

Their enemy's attackers consisted of several bipedal frogs and amphibious creatures. The frogs wore worn leather armor and held stone-type weapons, they are called Frogmen Militia. The other amphibious creatures only had their bodies as their weapons and their defense. They mostly consisted of Murlocs, Walking Fishes, and Lesser Nagas.

Estimating from their opponent's lineup, the dungeon master must be an amphibious user.

"Skeleton Mages, use fire magic! Create poison inside the labyrinth!"

The skeletons, which were busy creating the barricade were now lining themselves up and readying their spears behind the barricade. Behind them were skeletons garbed in worn out robes, the skeleton mages. On their hands, fireballs, the size of a volley ball, formed and were thrown at the enemies.

The fireballs came in contact with the amphibious enemies, but only suffered little damage. Because of their moist skin, they were able to lessen the heat damage from fireballs.

"Don't stop! Continue firing!"

With another command, the skeleton mages continued conjuring fireballs and hurled them at the fast approaching enemy force. This continued for about 3 seconds, and just when the enemy forces were about to reach the barricades, their movements visibly dulled. Looking closer, their breathing was ragged and they had trouble breathing.

This was the poison the lich dungeon master said earlier. If they knew atomic theory, the lich may be able to understand why there was poison. In this world, creating fire inside a cave, closed off long passage, or labyrinth results in poison. This was brought due to the lack of oxygen. Since oxygen in closed off spaces were limited, the fire burned it up until only very little, or until nothing was left. This was disatrous to living creatures which required oxygen to operate, but for undead, which had no need for oxygen in their bodies the lack of oxygen meant their advantage against living creatures.

"Now, skeletons, charge!!"

With one command the skeletons with their spears ready behind the barricades, charged forward and skewered the sluggish amphibians. The skeletons numbered about 25, while the amphibians numberd 40. But because of the lack of oxygen, the strength of the amphibians took a drastic decrease.

The amphibians were able to take some skeletons to their deaths, but were completely annihalated by the advantageous undead.

Looking at the results of the skirmish, the lich sighed and calculated within its mind the losses and formulated a plan.

"13 skeletons lost from the defense troop. All of them are from a skeleton spawner. It will take about five hours to spawn all of the lost skeletons. Based on this result, the best move is to isolate this part of the labyrinth for five hours until the skeletons spawns."

Taking the plan into action, the part of the labyrinth where the skirmish concluded was closed off. This was possible due to a gimmick in the dungeon's mechanisms.

"50000 DP to create and modify the dungeon… If this was any higher, I could have placed traps, but this mechanism dropped my starting DP to half."

The mechanism the lich stated was 'Moving Dungeon Walls'. Its features featured controlling the wall of the dungeon to move in one direction, and cannot be used again until 3 hours has passed. While the passage was closed off, a new passage appeared just beside the closed passage.

"Well, this is necessary for the defense of my dungeon."

The 'Moving Dungeon Walls' was a gimmick where you can confuse the intruders on which path to take, but used inside a labyrinth, all it takes is one moved wall, and the intruders will be in dire straits of being lost inside.

"Now then, let's commence the attack--- hmm? What is that?"

Just then a black shadow moved at the corner of the screen. The lich was perplexed at this oddity.

"Skeleton Knights, guard the entrance to the core room, do not let anyone enter."

Giving a command to the high-leveled Skeleton Knights, the lich worried about what was the black shadow he saw at the corner of the screen.

~ Daichi POV ~

While I was stressed about the attackers of my dungeon, a report came to me from a goblin ninja I summoned.

"A crypt huh, also, moving walls to confuse the attackers and used as a means of troop replenishment? Moreover, using fire to create poison in the passageways? Good work."

The goblin ninja nodded and quickly ran back to his post.

"Huh… The loss of oxygen is referred to poison in this world huh? The goblin ninja probably didn't stay too long in that area, unless he risked himself to be victim from the loss of oxygen."

I leaned back on my comfortable, rock-hard chair. Ahh… I want to go back home, this chair is killing me…

I contemplated on the plans to use for attacking. Based on the intelligence gathering of the goblin ninjas, most dungeons have low-leveled monsters on the first floors. Meaning the traps play a more active role in their dungeon's defenses.

While other dungeons have stupidly strong monsters on the first floor already, they are probably those who use brute force to defend their dungeons and attack their enemies.

A certain bipedal dragon came into mind while I was thinking about the compositions of the other dungeons. I quickly got rid of it and focused back on the screen where my defense was ongoing.

There were orcs and goblin swordsmen inside each room, along with pitfall traps. I thoroughly hammered into those orcs and goblins the strategy and locations of the pitfalls.

The orcs were hiding behind thick walls, along with a goblin swordsman. Using the excess DP, I created walls inside the rooms to create a pseudo-labyrinth. Each room had different patterns in which way to go to reach the end. I had to bleed my brain into making these pseudo-labyrinths.

The orcs and goblin swordsmen were taught the patterns of their corresponding room to use the room to their advantage when fighting against intruders.

Right now, the orcs were defending against an onslaught of numerous four-legged lizards. All of them had the same size as komodo dragons. Their scales were hard, but not hard enough to completely nullify the attacks from the orcs' clubs.

One lizard's head was smashed by an orc. Since they had scales, I had the orcs deal with them and had the pitfalls to suspend actions until the untruders were dealt with. Edged weapons would just chip and break in the future if they were used against this kind of enemy after all.

After about thirty minutes, the komodo dragons were repelled and annihilated by my orcs. Using the terrain to their advantage made it easier to deal with them. Who said orcs were stupid? I want them to say that to my face right now.

"Good job."

I praised the orcs who survived, of course, it is impossible to get out unscathed from an equal enemy. The orcs roared a roar of victory before going back to their posts. Just then, a report came from a ninja goblin.

"Now then, I guess it's about time to mobilize the assassins."

~ Third Person POV ~

"… What the hell… WHAT IS GOING ON!?"

The furious shout of a lich reverberated across the room. In front of him was a screen showing the massacre of the lich's summoned monsters, pile of bones and cracked skulls were scattered on the floor.

The enemy force this time wasn't a measly 30 amphibians. This time, they numbered a hundred, and they brought along a huge amount of water.

The water they brought was from a water creating monster known as Aquas. It wasn't a type of magic. It was the use of its internal organ known as 'Alveus'. The organ 'Alveus' can create water from the air it sucks into its lungs. After that, it can spit out water just like a hose, a literal water dispenser.

The reason for the lich's uneasiness was because of the appearance of Aquas. Aquas is a monster that can destroy a town by itself, and a high threat monster if ever seen. Because of its strength, it can cost about 10000 – 15000 DP, and from the lich's calculation of the ongoing attacks, the lich estimated that the expense of the enemy already surpassed 15000 DP.

The reason why he is this stressed is because there hasn't been an announcement about a knocked out dungeon master.

"Shit! Skeleton Knights! Join the battle at passage 8!"

The lich gave out commands in a furious tone. Heeding their master's words, the Skelton Knights rushed towards the battlefield.

"Shit! Shit! That damned Kindley!"

While spouting insults and curses, the lich never noticed the impending threat approaching him. With just a swipe of a blade, the lich's head seperated from its skeletal body and rolled on the floor.

~ Daichi POV ~

{15000 DP has been added}

"Attention all dungeon masters, a dungeon master has been eliminated, I repeat…"

A voice echoed inside my mind the moment the goblin assassin cut off the head of the lich.

"So that's how they announce the eliminations, feels weird."

Looking at the results, the goblin assassin, with the help of goblin ninjas, was able to knock out one dungeon master. Because of the joint efforts of the two, it was easy to bypass security and avoid monsters in the dungeon. It was even easier when there was a defense ongoing.

"Well then, that's one. Let's keep this up!"

Feeling elated from my first elimination, I continued giving instructions to my summoned monsters.
