Chapter 12: Dungeon Games
Dungeon Games…? What is that…?
I thought this was a meeting of dungeon masters, but apparently, this is a day where dungeon masters gather and compete against each other. The meeting part wasn't wrong, I just interpreted it incorrectly.
The roars and cheers of the other dungeon masters reverberated through the hall. This is seriously noisy…
"Calm yourselves my children. We will start momentarily, but first, let us welcome our new dungeon masters."
With a snap of his fingers, I, along with several other dungeon masters, were teleported onto a stage that was made in just a blink of an eye. Is this castle a dungeon? I mean, if he is the father of dungeon masters, then he must be maintaning a dungeon as a dungeon master right?
Beside me were about 20 dungeon masters with different appearances and races. There were some humanoid dungeon masters, those who looked like humans, and those who looked like animals such as a lizard, a cat, etc.
I stiffened in place. Just thinking about setting foot in a stage in front of many people, much less a thousand, just makes me feel anxious. But right now, I am experiencing it, the feeling of stage fright. The nervousness of now knowing what to do, heck, what I want to do now is to jump of the freakin' stage and hide in a hole!!!
There were some others like me, while the others had an air of calmness. They are probably those who are confident in their dungeons and management.
"Please give a round of applause to our new dungeon masters!"
The sounds of clapping from a thousand people, actually, some people, others animals, could be heard, along with some roars and cheers inside the hall. It was deafening. My eardrums could give out any second now, but the others who have increased hearing capabilities have it harder than mine. All of us can't cover our ears because it can be an act of disrespect, so I bore with it.
"Now, new dungeon masters, please introduce your selves to the whole dungeon community."
…Ehh…? Did I hear that correctly…? Are you serious…? NO NO NO!!! WHAT THE HECK AM I SUPPOSED TO SAY IN THIS SITUATION!? I CAN'T JUST GIVE MY NAME AND THE DUNGEON INFORMATION HERE!! CRAP!!!
Just as I was suffering from nervous breakdowns, a dungeon master with an appearance of a lovely human girl walked forward, in her hand, an item that probably could count as a microphone. She had green hair that flowed down her back, yellow eyes as pure as gold, and two pointy ears. Appearance wise, she should be an elf in her late teens, probably the same age as me.
ELF IS HERE!!! EROFU!!! WAIT, I NEED TO FOCUS ON MY INTRODUCTION!!!
I could introduce myself normally if they can't see me, even if it is the whole world, but it is a different story when they could see my every move. This is impossible for me who have level 10 Stage Fright…
The elf held the item-cum-microphone and brought it near to her lips.
"Good day to you all dungeon masters!!! My name is Liz Tanya! 2 month old dungeon master!! As I am a new dungeon master, I hope that you would all take care of me!"
… B- BEAUTIFUL!!! CUTE!!! W- WHAT THE HECK IS WITH THIS GIRL!!! WAIT… NOW IS NOT THE TIME FOR THAT!!! Calm yourself me… You can do it… Deep breaths… Hi hi fuu… Hi hi fuu… DA HELL!? I AIN'T PREGNANT!!!
As my nervous breakdown continued to get worse and worse, several dungeon masters were done introducing theirselves. The number of dungeon masters who have yet to introduce theirself numbered 3, me, a bipedal dragon, and a cute little slime.
The bipedal dragon took a step forward and used the item-cum-microphone and introduced himself.
"My name is Ignis Profundis!! 4 month old dungeon master!! I will be in your care for the many days to come!!!"
With a gallant self-introduction, Ignis stepped back and gave the stage to the cute little slime.
The slime hopped forward, making little splashing sounds. C-Cute… This calmed me down a little.
"Hello, my name is Limus Bellus. I am half a month old dungeon master. As you can see, I am just a slime, so naturally, I am weak. I do hope to be friends in the future."
… SUPER CUTE!!! If there were any slime lovers here, they would surely worship this slime as a god.
While I was in my own fantasy about how cute the slime was, the item appeared in front of me, meaning it was my turn to introduce myself.
WOAH!!! TIME-OUT!!! TIME-OUT!!! I'M NOT READY YET!!!
It was too late for a time-out. Resigning myself to the inevitable, I slowly walked forward and brought the item to my lips.
"I-I am Daichi… 1 month old dungeon master… Um… Erm… Please take care of me…"

*Cricket Sound*
… WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST SAY!!!??? WHAT KIND OF LAME-ASS SELF-INTRODUCTION WAS THAT!!?? AHH!!! I WANT TO HIDE IN A HOLE AND SURROUND IT WITH BEDROCK SO THAT EVEN TNT CAN'T DESTROY IT!!!
I slowly backed away while their painful eyes directed their gazed on me. Please… No more…
"Don't worry mister, we all have our strengths and weaknesses."
"That's right. Don't let it get to you!"
The two who introduced themselves before me, came towards me and comforted me. Ahhh… I'm healed with this slime… But you dragon, don't smile, it's creeping me out… It looks like it's looking at me like dinner…
"Y-Yes… Thank you…"
"No problem!!"
"Sure thing, mister!"
This slime really is cute. I want to bring it home, except I can't.
"Now that the introductions are over, let us start the Dungeon Games!!! There are three events, first is [Dungeon Master Race] where dungeon masters race against each other. The winner will be granted a random skill of Epic Grade! Don't worry as only dungeon masters with the same race will compete. All the winners of the race will get their reward so do not fret."
Hmm… If I can win that event, then, I could get a random Epic Grade Skill huh…? I'll be competing in it then. At least, I'll just be up against dungeon masters with a human race so there is no problem. The only problem is if they are fater than me or have skills that boost their speed.
"Also, killing is legal. But do not worry. You will be revived when the race is over."
SAY WHAT!? THIS JUST TOOK A TURN FOR THE WORSE!! WHAT DO YOU MEAN KILLING IS LEGAL!? Well, at least we will revive when killed. I just hope there are no side-effects.
"Second is [Dungeon Master Survival]. This is an event where dungeon masters fight against each other to the death. Again, you will be revived when you die, so go all out! This is a battle royale so all of the participants will be transferred to the arena. Again, only those of the same race will compete againt each other to avoid gaps in strength. There are no rules in the match so use everything you can to win! Deceive, surprise, and kill!! The winner will be rewarded with a random skill of Legendary Grade."
… I have a lot to retort to this. I thought dungeon masters were supposed to be the managemental type, not the straightforward type. Well, maybe this can serve as a test to improve my combat abilities and wits.
"Last is [Dungeon Battle], the main event of the Dungeon Games. This is where your management skills will be put to the test. The usage of skills is forbidden, only the usage of DP will be allowed. Breaking this rule will be an instant disqualification. The winner will be given a random skill of Mythical Grade. Also, you will be given a dummy dungeon core and dungeon for this event."
Finally, a dungeon event where the management skills of a dungeon master will decide the outcome. Also, how you strategize and how you put it in real time attacks. I will definetely join this event.
"Mister Ignis, what event will you be joining?"
"Hmm… I'll be joining all of the events, can't hurt to try them all out."
"So will I, how about mister Daichi?"
Hmmm… If I join all of them, I have a chance to win the three, but also risk myself to be stressed during the main event. For the race, I have a sure win plan to win, and even if I fail, there won't be any losses. For the survival, I think I'll just join for the sake of improving my survival instincts and combat proficiency. But there is also a chance I can win.
Last is the dungeon battle. This is the main event that I would really like to join. The years of experience playing dungeon simulators will now bear fruit. I'll make sure that I can win that event.
"I'll be joining all three of them, can't hurt to try, right Ignis?"
"Hahaha!!! That's the spirit Daichi!!"
"Then it's settled. While at it, let's make a bet."
I raised my eyebrow in response to Limus statement.
"A bet?"
"That's right. How about, loser gets to follow the winner? That sounds good right? By the way, the loser can only follow the winner's demand if it has no harm to the loser or dungeon, deal?"
If that's the case, then it is okay, a bet as newfound friends.
"I accept!"
"So do I."
Both I and Ignis accepted the bet. Now I really need to win the games.
"Then, here are the rules, the one who wins most of the events, wins, simple right?"
"Sure."
"I'm fired up!!!"
The three of us smiled at each other's silliness and idiocy.
"Well then, let's register over there."
The three of us headed to a counter where the registrations are ongoing. I'll show that mystery man how I grew up in this past month.
