Chapter 10: Yang Yuhuan - Brats
I had woken up early the next day and followed my usual schedule. Train at 3 o'clock until 6 in the morning then take a relaxing bath and get ready for an hour and go out for breakfast at 7. However, when I went out of the dining hall which was in front of my courtyard, no one was there. They still must be preparing for the morning. I waited for an hour, yes, a f*cking hour! And I was about to leave when a running young boy crashed into me. I stood still unbothered but the young boy fell over.
"Oh! I'm so sorry, are you alright?" I reached my hand out to help but I was just stared at. I guess it was weird for a 10-year-old girl to feel like a wall.
'Pft... Yeah, a wall.' Iris began laughing.
'I'm a ten-year-old, of course, I'd be flat as a wall... Tsk you already know what I mean!'
The boy, however, slapped my hand and stood up immediately as if he was embarrassed or something and kept staring at me. After a few moments, he finally spoke up.
"Wh-who are you?!"
"My name is Yang Yuhuan. Yours?" I just smiled at him innocently.
"Wh-why should I tell you?" The f*ck? Moody much?
"Because you asked about mine? Its common courtesy." You're supposed to be three years older than me dude, why are you acting like a baby?
"I-I don't want to!" *sigh* I don't give a sh*t kid.
"Then don't, no one's forcing you." I turned around and left him standing there. Aunt Dan saw what had happened when she entered the Dining hall on the other entrance. Since she's here I can eat!
"Aunt Jifeng. Good morning." I went to her and greeted her. That was when two men entered through the main entrance and saw me. I greeted them formally.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, My name is Yang Yuhuan. I hope that you have had a nice morning so far." I smiled sweetly and they did the same thing.
"Oh! I heard a lot from Jiji about you! Such a talented and cute girl. You may call me grandfather Dan." The old man said while he was supported.
"But grandpa! She's not our family, why would she call you grandpa?!" The boy from earlier ran towards the table and shouted.
"Dan Kang Chun! Apologize!" The man supporting Grandfather Dan scolded him.
"B-but...I'm sorry" After pausing he finally said sorry. I just smiled but since I'm already hungry I didn't reply anymore. The younger sister and their aunt came last when we were already seated. I introduced myself as a courtesy of course.
"The lovely Yuhuan! My name is Dan Xinyi, I've heard so many good things about you. You may call me Aunt yiyi." The girl beside her wore a shocked expression when she saw me but then glared afterward.
'What's with these moody kids?' Iris said as she lies flat on my lap. I continued to eat and listened to their conversation. They continued talking about familial affairs and gossip. They even opened a topic of marriage.
"The Ban family's young miss is turning 6 and she's already that cute, I wonder how she'll look like in ten years. She'll surely have many pursuers don't you think Kang Chun?" Aunt Yiyi teased the boy that was seating across from me.
"What's that got to do with me?" He replied smugly.
"Didn't you have a crush on her?" Aunt Jiji said and smiled at the little boy. Dan Kang Chun seems to be irritated and downed a mouthful of rice. The adults of the family all giggled and teased Kang Chun even more.
"You always play with her when this grandpa visits old Ban right? Is that why you always agree to come with me?" I soon got to know that the Ban residence was just across the Dan residence. The Ban family was run by scholars since its establishment. They were a family known to produce intelligent children.
The meal continued smoothly and we were sent back to our own devices right after.
"Hey, 丑女!" (ugly girl) I was about to return to my courtyard when the two siblings called behind me. I continued on and didn't even give them a glance when they ran after me and blocked my way.
"Hey! We called you!" The little girl said.
"My name is not *Chou Nu*." I pretended to no know the meaning of what they just said and smiled.
"You're not only a Chou nu but also a 笨女孩." (Ben Nuhai)
'This little boy would fly thousands of kilometers away with a flick.' Iris expressed as she groomed herself. This boy is 3 years older than me yet he's only a shoulder length of mine.
"Oh, I see. So I can call you 矮人 then?" (Airen) I called him a midget which caused his ears to redden.
'Well, ain't that cute?' I expressed my thought to Iris which she replied with a 'meh'.
I continued to tease Kang Chun and his little sister which I came to know as "Dan Wang Fang". After having enough fun on teasing them I went back to my quarters and went on my day. I began cooking up some plans on what I need to do next. Iris and I waited until nighttime came. The family didn't call out for a meal and usually eats dinner in their own rooms. After making sure that all of them are asleep I called in a servant to prepare bathwater.
"I want to relax on my own, you may leave," I ordered them to go out of my room and just wait for me to call for them to change.
'Iris.' The black cat jumped from my arms and secured the area. I pulled out a piece of paper shaped like a person and started chanting. Soon, the piece of paper started changing. Iris made sure to create humming noises and splashing sounds. We secured the door and climbed out of the window.
During the mealtime earlier, we came to know that the Dan residence has a treasury room. They didn't directly say it but mentioned that the heir apparent of the family was about to celebrate his coming of age.
"We could gift one of the shiny things in our treasury!" Wang Fang said.
"They're family treasures, honey." Aunt Jiji said.
"There would be an auction this weekend held by the Xue's. If we can't find anything then, we're going to use our treasury." Uncle Meifen said. He came halfway our mealtime and was introduced to me. He was handling government affairs earlier and was held longer because of work.
After a little more listening, Iris and I came to the conclusion of snooping around. not for the money ut for the information. The treasury hold scripts passed down from generation to generation. We may find something about the disruption which caused the blood bell to ring.
I started lock-picking. Locks used during ancient times were the easiest to unlock, they were the simplest.
'You do know this isn't necessary right?' I stopped picking the lock for a moment and looked at the cat sitting beside me looking at me as if I'm some retard.
'Well...yeah, I just find fun in challenges.' I could just easily break by using brute force but where's the fun in that? After unlocking the library windows we entered quietly. The entrance in the treasury must be here somewhere. I started looking around like I'm some kind of spy.
'Dude...seriously?!'
'Oh, okay-okay.' let's stop with the detective bullsh*t. I asked Iris where the door and access point was and followed her. Iris is used to guiding me everywhere.
'What's the use of my abilities if you keep doing that?' She wasn't Ptah's daughter for no reason after all. We went straight to the back of the library and I pulled a certain lever hidden under a table which opened a narrow hallway behind a bookshelf.
The room was orderly and contained many gold and jewelry but that didn't catch our eyes. We went straight for the shelves containing the scrolls. It had properties, contracts, records, and etc. We were specifically looking for something regarding or connected to the imperial family.
'Sin Residence, Siheyuan, Government, ah!' Iris started going through the shelves far behind and seem to have found something. I quickly went to her to see what it was.
'found it.' Iris held out the opened book before me. It was written in greek.
'Why is it in greek?' I asked Iris in which she replied unsurely. Why was It written in greek? I held the book in my hand and began reading.

We started reading the records and became even more shocked throughout. We can't believe that these were all written down with detail as if the writer never wanted to forget it.
