Chapter 16: Promise, No Matter What: 6.1

"There's a monster under my bed!" Taehyung shouted to Seokjin when the older man tucked him to his bed, he put the alien plushie beside the tiger hybrid.

Seokjin hummed, lifting Jungkook and put him beside his older brother, "Yes," their breath hitched when the older hybrid replied calmly, "the monster watches over both of you at night and chases away your nightmares."

Both of them blinked in confusion, lately, the boys had been watching a movie series with a big bad monster that lived under kid's bed and they came to eat the children's cookies. Seokjin needed to go to the Mamamoo sister's bar this night, Jimin couldn't come to watch over the boys because he had a party so he called Hoseok.

Jimin did assure him that he could cancel his plan but Seokjin refused, he decided to ask for Hoseok's help at the end since the children already loved him.

He didn't have any courage to ask another day off to Hwasa, not after he asked for a day off every week since one month ago. Solar would definitely be-head him if he continues like this, "there's a monster in our clothes!" Jungkook interrupted his mind, the kids really were trying to make Seokjin stay.

"Yes, she loves the smell of the softener I use, and she's busy trying to organize your hoodie," Seokjin sat on the edge of Taehyung's bed, the tiger and bunny hybrid pouted at him. The children always hate it when Seokjin leave them, they wanted their father to stay with them as long as he can.

The older man looked at his watch; it was the time to go to his night shift, kissing Taehyung and Jungkook's forehead, read several stories until Hoseok came with a big smile. The children let go the hem of his shirt with a sour expression, Taehyung waved half-heartedly while Jungkook squirmed away from Hoseok's hand; but he did wave a goodbye to his father.

'Come back soon,' they said.

Seokjin chuckled and promised them to come back before they wake up.

To be frankly, Seokjin didn't expect to go home with a bloody face.

The white shirt he wore for his job at the Mamamoo sisters' nightclub was ripped, tainted with fresh blood.

Every weekend, Saturday or Sunday, the hybrid would go to the club to work as one of the bartenders just like what he promised to Moonbyul (he just started again this week though). Some of his customers asked why he works in the weekend when he used to work for five days in a week. He would smile at them and pushed a small glass of his cocktail.

He didn't want anyone from this side to know about Taehyung or Jungkook, he needed to keep them safe on the bright side of his life. They didn't need to learn his dark side if it's possible; Seokjin wanted to keep it that way.

It was in the middle of the dawn when he went home, taking his bag and drank his hot chocolate slowly because it was too hot for his tongue. He sent a flying kiss to the mamamoo sisters who looked a little bit sober to reply to him, he loved this bar. He didn't think any possibility someone caught his arm and tossed him like a rag doll to the dirty wall of the small alleyways not too far away from his workplace.

The hot chocolate burnt his palm but he didn't mind it as he swiftly dodged a punch, moving his head away before that hand knock him out right there. His ear rang when the strong knuckles of the stranger connected to the brick wall behind him, the scary tall guy grunted in pain after a loud crack echoed.

Seokjin's eyes widened, just what the hell? His body tensed with anticipation, his back straight and he was so ready to punch back.

"I'm going to kill you," the tall guy smirked, he attacked with a big right overhand punch. Seokjin stepped out of range, but before he could bring his hands up to defend, the stranger's friend; that hid from Seokjin's eyesight before, he drove his shoulder into the hybrid's chest, slamming him into the wall again, where he started landing solid punches into Seokjin's gut.

The hybrid choked out, his body hurting but he managed to kick the man who kept punching him. He tasted blood inside his mouth, it's been months since the last time he used his hand to ruin someone's night who messed with him.

Seokjin wasn't strong but he wasn't a weakling at the same time, he needed to go home before the children wake up. Hoseok told him that he left when the children fell asleep and the hybrid didn't want the children to be awake alone, without adults in the apartment.

He dropped his bag to the ground, eyes glaring to the intruders, two-person, no; three men in front of him.

The situation wasn't good for Seokjin, considering the sizes of the group in front of him that looked so ready to slaughter him or even skinned him alive. He would go home with a lot of injuries but he didn't have any choice, he was sure they wouldn't let him go.

Baring his teeth, Seokjin waited until one of them became impatient and attacked him first. He stepped back and watched their movement, trying to find any chance to hit back; finding the flaw of your enemy and calculating the attacks in a second was hard, so fucking hard.

His gut already aching like a bitch because of the impact of the punches he got before, his movement wasn't as fast as it should be. He hit the first intruder, smirked when he heard a nice crack from the man's jaw. His knuckles throbbed in pain, man, he didn't even practice his fighting ability since he carried Jungkook on his back. Seokjin picked up the brass knuckles from his enemy, put it on his hand and glared to the rest of his enemy after he stomped on the knocked out man, making sure he wouldn't wake up and attack him from behind.

He still got it though, in a few minutes after a series of a double jab, uppercut, he successfully knocking down a man while the other two stood in silence after the loud sound of skin hitting another skin died down. Speechless for a moment because Seokjin moved so fast, beautifully but deadly. He glared to them, jaw flexing dangerously.

"Who the hell you're?" Seokjin snarled, almost inhumanly, he hid the pain to look fearless.

The first person who slammed him onto the wall chuckled nervously, it was amazing how the big man seemed to be afraid of him. Seokjin was sure they are from the 'Hell's ring', an underground ring for street fighters.

They knew him, they knew his identity as one of the fighters there. This was dangerous.

"We?" he grinned, showing his disgusting yellow teeth, "we are the people who will end your arrogant life, Jin."

When the enemy let out a war scream, Seokjin gritted his teeth; his mind kept thinking about the children non-stop and the possibility that his children were in danger because of no one but him.
