Chapter 15: 5.3

"What?" Seokjin nodded, the young human blinked rapidly before looking down at his own hands uncomfortably, feeling a little bit guilty after Seokjin told him the background story of the kids. Even though he felt glad because Seokjin was in fact, single with no ex-wife, he stepped too far into someone else's problem, "sorry, hyung," he said out of the blue.

"No, Jimin-ah," Seokjin smiled gently, "I'm totally fine telling this to you, you often help me with the kids so you deserve to know too. I'm not planning to hide the story that I adopted them too, not from you."

Jimin nodded but his face was still full with doubt. At first, he didn't believe Seokjin took the children when they were not related to him. The man literally threw everything he used to be just for Taehyung and Jungkook. But now he thought Taehyung and Jungkook didn't seem like Seokjin's children at all.

If it were him, he didn't know if he would sacrifice his life like Seokjin. Changed his life, started everything from a scratch, trying to be something you never knew before. The feeling of fondness for the older hybrid inside of Jimin bloomed even more.

"You're awesome, hyung," Jimin mumbled. Seokjin put down his caramel latte, "to think you did it for the children."

Seokjin didn't tell Jimin about his past jobs nor his real self, his toxic self to be exact. How dark and dangerous he used to be, he just told the younger male the story about Taehyung and Jungkook and also how he took them under his care because no one in the family wanted to take the kids.

Jimin thought Seokjin was kind, cheerful, full of jokes, harmless. He had no idea, maybe the pink haired male just met the other side of him, not the destructive side of him. Seokjin wished Jimin would never meet him that way, it's too scary and Jimin might be disgusted.

"I'm not," Seokjin was shocked when he heard his own voice, vulnerable and too fragile for his liking, "I'm not strong, far from it ," he exhaled. Like a broken vase, no matter how much he put glue to the pieces the water will keep spilling. Flawed with no chance to be fixed, he wasn't strong enough to keep all the water inside.

He was too weak, he ran from the mansion because he couldn't take the credit of what his father did. The fact that his own mother saw him as nothing but her pawn, he tried to protect Namjoon as best as he could.

"Even after he protected his little brother when they lost their father due to the fire and without a mother figure, he still felt weak. He left the mansion after Namjoon reached fourteen, about five years ago, leaving all the loud whispering about his father's actions and his hope for his mother's attention. After he left the mansion, he dived into the toxic world fully as if he didn't have any responsibility anymore; while in fact, he left everything on Namjoon's hand.

Protect? No, he left Namjoon. Up till now, Seokjin will never understand why Namjoon still calls him big brother.

He kept living in that world, he proved he wasn't a weakling. He punched people who called him pretty or groped his ass, he broke their nose inside the hell, the cage where street fighters gambled their life for fun and money. Just like what he said to his grandpa, people who hurt other people are the weakest and he was one of them.

He found pleasure when people eyed him with a horrified expression, no one looked at him with pity. No one dared to ask why he kept hiding his wings, no one mocked him.

"You see, hyung," Jimin broke the silence, "maybe to yourself, you're nothing but a weak person, but-"

Seokjin waited for Jimin to continue, the pink haired male finished his Americano in one go.

"I will bet all of my money on this."

"I'm sure you're the strongest father from the twins' point of view."
