Chapter 109: Shopping
As the vacation proceeded, the Lin and Jiang couples decided to let the youngsters explore Japan on their own. Since Lin Que and Lily had recently engaged, the couple should spend some time alone. Other than them, Ginny and Alan should enjoy their own private time as well. Lucas, on the other hand, was dragged along by his parents to be their tour guide.
Although Lucas was studying abroad, he has visited many places. Japan was one of the many locations he has been to before. After having lunch at a famous ramen location, the couples split up into two groups.
After parting with them, Lin Que, Lily, Ginny and Alan agreed to walk around the city and travel to different shrines. Taking out the list of places they wanted to go to, they decided to put the locations in numerical sequence of where they would go first. Once everything was settled, the two couples began walking around.
In Japan, one of the popular stores tourists must check out is Daiso. This store is the Japanese dollar store where it is widely known for selling stationaries and essential products. From adorable designs of office supplies, beauty products, and snacks to household products, the prices were fairly inexpensive.
While the girls took their time shopping for products they fancied, the Lin Que and Alan would follow closely behind them. To avoid others from bumping into their girlfriends, they paid close attention to their surroundings.
After visiting two shrines and buying some ornament souvenirs, the couples took pictures around the area. By the time they were done, it was time for them to head back to the resort. Walking hand in hand, the two pairs stopped in front of a 7-Eleven store. It's been a few hours since they've had their last meal and they felt a bit hungry. Since they were already here, they wanted to buy some snacks and beverages.
According to Lucas' recommendation, the Japanese 7-Eleven is another worthy place to visit. Compared to the 7-Eleven in other places, the ones in Japan have a vast variety of Japanese lunch boxes and snacks. From cup noodles, lunch boxes, chips, desserts and many other food options, it could be found in one place.
Upon entering the store, Lily already knew her wallet would be emptied by the time she walks out of here. She gulped subconsciously as she stared at the rows of onigiri rice balls on the shelves and beverages. The lunch boxes looked delicious and filling that she couldn't help herself from biting her lips.
Ginny gasped, cupped her cheeks and pulled Alan to the dessert section. The pastries were decorated attractively like the ones in bakeries, except it was already packed in a box. Picking up a few dessert choices, Ginny furrowed her brows. She turned to her right and smiled at Alan.
"Which one do you want to try? The chocolate mousse cake with strawberries on top or the parfait with layered strawberry creams and fruits?" Seeing the indecisiveness in her eyes, Alan took both desserts and placed them steadily in the cart.
"Let's get both. We can share it later." He smiled dotingly as he urged her to choose more food she wanted to try.
Near the end of their shopping spree, Ginny and Lily ended up at the hot beverage aisle. They stared at the section with great interest as they rubbed their chins.
Ginny pointed at the hot mocha beverage. "It says hot beverage section, right?"
"Yeah, but this is a refrigerated section. I thought it was weird too." Lily reached out to grab a drink out of curiosity. The second her fingertips touched the drink, she halted, "It's actually hot. Well, it is hot but still manageable for customers to hold."
"Ahhhh, I see. Hehe, then I'll take this mocha Frappuccino. Wait, why are there so many options? I want this, but I also want to try this." Ginny felt like her world has become more complicated after coming into the store. Not only did she choose a whole shopping cart of snacks, she was contemplating on which drink to get.
Contrarily, Alan had been patiently carrying the items for her. He didn't complain about the number of snacks she looked at. Instead, he kept adding items she wanted to try into the cart. At the end, the four of them exited the store with their hands full.
Prior to separating from the Lin and Jiang couples, dinner reservation at the resort has already been made. Therefore, they didn't need to worry about being a little bit late for their meal. In the middle of heading back to the resort, Lin Que received a phone call from Lucas saying their parents have gone overboard with eating snacks after lunchtime.
At the same time, Lucas also accompanied them in eating. As a result, all five of them were too full to join for dinner. Since there was a change in the reservation numbers, Lucas wanted to confirm with them before telling the manager about it.
Staring at six bags of food, Lin Que thought that they could eat these lunch boxes together for dinner. Still, he asked for everyone else's opinion about this matter before giving Lucas a response. "...And so, it will only be us four eating dinner together. Do you still want to keep the reservation?"
After a few minutes of consideration, Lin Que responded to Lucas. "You can cancel the reservation. We already bought food from 7-Eleven earlier. We can eat in our hotel rooms. You can join us later if you want."
Lucas snickered from his brother's response. "Join you guys? I don't want to be bloated from dog food. I'll be at the manga cafe if you need anything. Have fun~ Remember to feed my sister-in-law well or your ass will get spanked by mom."
Lin Que let out a low chuckle, "Suit yourself. Don't stay out too late."
Within half an hour, the two pairs reached the resort. Alan and Ginny agreed to head over to Lily and Lin Que's room after they had settled down. Since they've been outside the whole day, Ginny wanted to take a quick shower first. Alan also wanted to wash up before having dinner to avoid indigestion issues.
"Mm. Then we'll wait for you in our room." Lily wanted to wave her hand, but the bags were too heavy. Lin Que unlocked the door to their room, and Lily followed him inside.
"Alright. We'll see you in a bit." Ginny smiled as she entered her room.
The sound of closed doors could be heard from the peaceful hallway.
