Chapter 96: Lunch Between Two Families
After scratching the heck out of her head for the whole morning, Lily finally accomplished her goal for the day. She finished reviewing projects and signed the documents that required her approval to proceed to the next step!
"Woooo! Time to leave for family time!" She stretched her arms in the air as she grabbed her purse and left for the day. Once she got into her car, she dialed her mother's number.
"Hello?" Toby answered after the first ring.
"Mom~ I'll be back soon. I'm leaving the company now."
"Ah! Lily, come straight to the Sky Mall. I'm having tea right now. We could go to eat when you get here." Toby giggled into the phone as if she found something interesting.
"Oh? Okay then. I'll call you again when I get there. Bye~"
"Mm. Drive safe!" Toby said before hanging up.
As Lily made her way to the mall, her parents were having fun chatting at a cafe with Lin Que's parents. After Lily left for work this morning, Toby received a call from Yao Yao about a new cafe that opened in Sky Mall. Since Lawrence was also a tea person, they decided to meet up for lunch.
For a moment, Toby had forgotten about meeting up with Lily in the afternoon. Yao Yao drank her tea leisurely. When Toby ended the call with Lily, she quickly asked a follow up question.
"Is Lily joining us later?" Ever since she met Lily at Lin An's party, she's been missing this girl! Unfortunately, Lin Que wanted to hog his girlfriend to himself. She could only bite her own lips and wait for her chances.
"Yes, she is coming over now. We were planning to wait for her at home, but then you two called. I almost forgot about our meeting until she called. Oh, right. Is Lin Que working today?" Toby picked up her Oolong tea and enjoyed the fresh fragrance it emitted.
"He's supposed to work at the company today. Ah! Let me give him a call to see if he is done with work." Yao Yao quickly dialed his number on her phone.
"If he is working, then let it be. Work is more important." Lawrence interrupted as he was a workaholic himself. He wouldn't like it if someone disrupts his schedule.
Waving her hand in a fanning motion, Yao Yao smiled. "Work is work. He still needs to have his meal. Besides, it's rare for us to be free at the same time. How could he not join? No matter how busy he is, he will never reject my offer."
On the second ring, Lin Que picked up his phone. The finance manager was in the middle of reporting the monthly finance report to him when he felt the vibration from his phone. Without a second thought, he picked up the call.
"Mom."
"Lin Que! Have you eaten lunch yet?"
"Not yet. I'm reviewing the financial progress of the company."
"Oh! That isn't too important. Coincidently, your father and I are around the area with Lily's parents. We're having tea in Sky Mall right now. "
"Mom, financial reports are essential to the company's operations. I'll eat lunch later."
"Really? That's too bad, then. Lily is on her way here. I was going to ask you to come to join us for lunch since Lily's parents are also with us. Even though we are old friends with Lily's parents, we still haven't officially sat down as two families. If you get what I mean~"
She purposely teased her working son with provocative words.
"Actually, the reports could be handled later. I suddenly feel hungry for some lunch at the mall. Which restaurant are you guys going to? I'll be there in fifteen minutes." He quickly changed his words after hearing his girlfriend's name. How could he miss this opportunity?
The finance manager was nodding to his rejection at first, but quickly realized his boss had changed his mind! Looking at his boss with a vulnerable expression, he wondered if he was allowed to protest.
Lin Que ended the call in the next minute and dismissed the manager from his office. "I will come back after lunch. You can pick up from where you left off after I come back." Just like that, he took his suit jacket and dashed out of his office, leaving the manager speechless.
Waving silently from behind, the manager then went back to his office.
- Sky Mall -
Lily checked the map at the mall and located the tea cafe her mom had told her about. When she got there, she spotted two familiar faces. Smiling, she greeted Yao Yao and Lin An politely.
"Good afternoon, Auntie, Uncle." The smile on Yao Yao's face spread sweeter than honey. She got up from her seat to give Lily a hug. Ginny was drinking her rose tea silently as she raised her brows a few times towards Lily's direction.
Catching the look on Ginny's face, Lily didn't know whether she should thank her friend for not informing her about Lin Que's parents joining for lunch. Since Lin Que wasn't here yet, Lily decided to order a drink for both of them. While reading the menu, she came across Rose Lavender and Tie Guan Yin tea.
She remembered him ordering Tie Guan Yin tea during one of their dates. After careful consideration, she picked Rose Lavender tea for herself and Tie Guan Yin tea for him. By the time he arrived, his tea was warm enough to drink.
He immediately greeted Toby and Lawrence. "Hello Auntie. Hello Uncle."
"Lin Que is here. Come. Come. We were just talking about you. Come take a seat next to Lily." Toby pointed at the empty seat between Lily and Yao Yao. When he lowered his gaze, he caught the rosy cheeks on Lily's face.
'What were they talking about?' He wondered.
