Chapter 49: Didn't Tell Her
Lin Que finished checking on his last patient and had time to spare. He messaged Lily to see if she had dinner yet. If she hasn't eaten yet, then they could grab something to eat with Toby and Ginny.
Right after he put his phone into his pocket, he received a call from his Lin Yao Yao. Immediately, a smile rose on his smile as he answered like a bird chirping out a melody.
Lin Que: "Hello? Mom."
Yao Yao: "Son! I heard I have a daughter-in-law."
Lin Que coughed, "Mom, not yet. She's my girlfriend and we literally started dating today. If this is how you'll scare away my girlfriend when you two meet, then I'll hide her far far away."
Yao Yao gasped, "You dare?! I gave birth to you to find me a good daughter-in-law. Hmph! Anyways, I'm glad you two are so happy together. She's pretty cute. Your dad finally jinxed something good this time. Hah! For his next birthday, maybe he should ask for grandchildren."
Lin An mumbled, "That should've been this year's wish. Sigh, I spent my quota. Next year then."
Lin Que rubbed his forehead, "Please don't mention any of this in front of Lily. Forget dating. Forget grandchildren. She'll run off after dumping me after meeting my straightforward family..."
Yao Yao: "Oh right! Mom and dad don't care whether the girl comes from a rich or poor family, but we just want to remind your naive mind to be careful. You are the head of the hospital, but you're also the CEO of Lin Corps. Don't let anyone know your identity that easily."
Lin Que: "Mom, don't worry. She thinks I'm a regular doctor in the hospital. I picked up her business card before, and she should be in the art industry. Anyways, we haven't spoken about our careers. She's very simple and cute."
Yao Yao: "Good. Good. Many girls tried to get close to us because your dad was the Lin Corps' president. It's a relief that you've never showed up much in social parties. Hmm, I remember having something else in mind. What was it again?"
Lin Que's lips twitched when he heard his mother's following words.
Yao Yao: "Ah, right. Around a month ago, we met uh this Jiang guy. He recognized us and said his daughter often caters parties. We received an invitation this afternoon. Lucas was the one who signed for it. Since nobody knows who you are anyways, go in our place. It's a type of greeting."
Lin Que: "Is it coincidentally on Friday night of this week?"
Yao Yao: "How did you know? What a smart guess! Anyways, you can go once and ignore all the other invites later on. Pretend it got lost in the mail or something. You can even say we moved to Hawaii."
Lin Que laughed, "How come this sounds so familiar? Fine. I'll go. But just this once. It's getting late on your side, and I have a girlfriend to accompany. I'll see you two whenever you guys decide to come back."
Yao Yao: "Go. Go! Remember, girls are used to spoil and dote on. But! Only do it to a certain extent. Things get out of hand if you always give in to her request. Ahem, of course, that only refers to certain categories."
His face blushed when he caught the meaning behind her words. "I'm hanging up then. Night."
Lucas messaged him right after the call ended.
Lucas: "Bro! What an odd coincidence. We got an invite to attend a Jiang family's party. What was her name? Jiang Meng Meng."
Lin Que: "I know. I'm heading to Lily's room to tell her about this."
Lucas: "Wait! Don't tell her yet. Give her a surprise. You know, the first three months is considered the trial. If you want to play safe, then you better win her over."
Lin Que: "I've already won her over. Hmm, a surprise doesn't sound that bad. I'll order a bouquet of roses for her."
Lucas: "Yes!!! Then I'll come with you too. I've been to these socialize parties only once and didn't like it. For the sake of you and sister-in-law, I will come along!"
Lin Que: "No comment. Depends on yourself if you want to tag along."
Lucas: "Don't worry. I know when to give you some privacy~"
Shaking his head at his brother's message, he headed to Lily's room. Upon entering her room, she checked the time and calculated the amount of time they had to themselves.
"Ah! We have fifteen minutes until your shift ends." Hopping into his arms like an active bunny, she wrapped her arms around his shoulder.
"Uh huh. You didn't see me for like a few hours. Did you miss me?" He chuckled as he looked at the girl smiling comfortably against his chest.
"Che~ You are the one who missed me, right? Hehe. Come on. Speak the truth." While drawing circles against his chest using her index finger, he bent down to give her a kiss.
"Nuh ah! Hehe." Tilting her face slightly, his lips missed her face. She whispered to his ear, "Didn't someone promise to do anything as long as he couldn't fulfill the ten kisses?"
Hearing her sweet voice echoing into his ear, he wanted to hug her and never let go. "Mm. What do you want me to do?" He closed his eyes while listening to her harmonious, soft voice.
"Then, when we get a chance, I want to have a dance with you." She squeezed his cheeks together with her palms.
"A dance? We could have it now if you want one." He smiled as he grabbed her hand with one hand and her waist in the other.
"Nope! Silly, I'm asking you out on a date with me. It must be a romantic one, though. Ah, you know how to dance right?" She forgot to ask if he knew how to dance when she requested this.
"I'm alright when it comes to dancing, but I haven't practiced with anyone before. I had to learn it for one of my academy courses. Heh, if you want a date, then we'll have one." He pinched her nose lightly.
"What? Just one date?" Playing with words was her forte.
"N..no. No. We can have as many dates as you wish. Hahaha, starting with this one."
"Pffft, then you owe me a date."
Pulling her back into his arms, he whispered, "Okay. I'll do whatever you want. Any more requests?"
"Mmmm....a kiss!" She spread her arms wide like a kid as she tiptoed to peck him on the lips.
"And here I thought you meant the chocolate kiss." He chuckled as he returned the kiss.
"Hmm...On second thought...one kiss isn't enough. Give me another." Wrapping her arms around his nape, she closed her eyes and received another kiss from him.
"Enough?" He smiled as their lips remained a close gap.
"Nope. I want another."
*Smooch*
"Not enough. One more~" She said as she received more pecks.
Just like that, the silly couple spent the remaining time following her request for more kisses.
