Chapter 11: Silence

I want to turn away. I really want to not look at this, but this is my responsibility. If I ordered this execution I am at least obligated to see it through. The zombie bandit had taken both groups by surprise and had pounced on the bandit leader before anyone noticed it.

It wasn't so much of a fight, but rather a rabid animal assaulting a human being. Unlike the previous fights, the bandit leader was much stronger and was able to put up much more of a fight. Unfortunately, that just caused a much more gruesome scene.

The zombie kept tearing at the man, using it teeth and nails. Were nails and teeth always this tough? The bandit leader was riddled with deep wounds that oozed blood. I could swear I could see some of the bone in his arm.

That isn't to say the zombie was uninjured... more uninjured? It was technically wounded when I cast [𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞]. The bandit leader was able to shake it off once, and throw an attacks. One of these had severed one of the zombie's arms.

However, this didn't seem to slow it down at all. It immediately pounced on his back again, using its remaining arm and legs to attach straddle him as it took bites out of him. Movies had always portrayed zombies as slow and weak, but reality couldn't of been farther from the truth.

I could hear the the man screaming in the distance.

"AHHHHH!!! Fuckkkk!! WHAT THE FUCKKK!!! BORIS!!! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING, GET OFF ME I'LL FUCKEN KILL YOU!!! AHHH!!!"

The voice was blood curdling. The remaining bandits and villagers were horror stricken and did not move. Fear was written all over both parties faces. I had made the right decision not showing myself, I would of been seen as a monster of monsters.

Even if the bandits could muster their courage, their leader flailed in pain and panic, sweeping large arcs with his sword. They would of been injured as well if they came closer. I could see the big man's movements starting to slow, a few moments later he was on his hands and knees screaming in pain, reaching out to a man near him. It was a villager.

The man looked at him for a second, before spitting in his face, and the bandit leader collapsed on the ground. The zombie immediately detached itself and fled into the woods before anyone had reacted. Silence hung over the scene.
