Chapter 10: Tactics

I looked at the situation while hiding behind a building. I had told the zombie to stay behind me as I looked at the situation. The villagers were starting to lose ground again, while they outnumbered the bandits quite heavily, the big man seemed to be enough to keep the odds in the bandits favor, as expected of the boss.

I had so many thoughts going through my head. Should I flee? I didn't know these people anyways, and I think I have done more than enough really... then I remembered the little girls face as she asked me to help them. No one had ever asked for me help so sincerely before... I liked that feeling.

No, I won't flee, but I am not sure that my zombie can even kill that guy. He looks quite strong, much stronger than anyone I'd seen so far. Even though this zombie bandit was much stronger than Daniel, I wasn't so sure it could kill the bandit leader.

Another thing I did not know was how the villagers would react to me having this zombie. I still remember the fear I saw in the eyes of that mother and daughter. This zombie was not something people would readily accept, I wouldn't be charging in there on my white steed, but rather I'd be charging in with a moving corpse.

As I was racking my brain to make a decision, I realized time had seemed to come to a stall again. Odd... this was the second time this had happened, I wonder what causes this or what it is. I shook my head and suddenly the time stall seemed to stop.

Whatever I'll figure that out later, I don't know what will happen, but I did know I couldn't just abandon these people at this point. If it was me... I know I would of begged God to send someone to save me as well.

I organized my thoughts, I had two objectives: 1) kill the bandit leader, 2) don't associate this thing with me. The only people who knew it was my minion were the woman and her daughter... I'd beg them after this, if anything I knew how to beg. I took a look at the zombie next to me and issued a command.

"Go around the buildings. Flank that bandit leader. K-kill..."

The words seemed stuck in my throat. There was no ambiguity this time if I said it. I knew what I wanted the zombie to do. I steeled myself, it is just like watching an execution right? Yes, definitely, I am not the one doing it... it is definitely not as bad...probably.

"Kill the bandit leader. Once he is dead run back to the woods."

With my final words the zombie took off. I gripped my fists tightly, hoping I had done the right thing. Is murder ever the right thing? Well, even if I am having cold feet, the zombie is too far away for me to stop it.
