Chapter 16: Raging Storm 2

Salamina

********************************

Have you ever been in a situation where you just wish you had been given just 10 more minutes? Like you desperately wish to flip the hands of time and believe that had you been there, things wouldnt be the same . . . that you would've done . . . something! Anything to prevent the sky from falling down? That maybe a few words could have changed the course of time and you could have had a different outcome?

I know I have always been a believer that my Princess is strong but no human strength or any divine intervention could save a soul from a spontaneous combustion. The car didnt just explode as if it's been travelling at maximum speed, it also lit up like it had spun and landed on its front allowing the leakage of the gasoline filled tank but that was just it. It was still standing on a level surface where the surface was just 90 degrees perpendicular to the shadows of the trees surrounding the park. So how do we even make the emergency call reporting this "accident". I studied science enough to know its strange that the is absolutely no cause for the combustion and an even vaguest reason for the dent on the car to cause leakage as if there was an impact of greater strength. I'm probably analysing a lot to avoid a breakdown but I can feel the bile rising from my throat to the surface of my taste buds due to contained tears. Nick has gone stoic infront of me with an impassive face. His eye socket looked almost too small to contain his seemingly big eyes but the nerves were all out making his pale face even paler like the life has been sucked out of it and there was never gonna be light in his eyes.

See when we got here, we were sure that the were two people in the car and assuredly they were both girls and one of the girls was Dana and when we were too close to find out why they were actually panicked over the phone, the car just went up in flames and that's when we lost all common sense and time. Everything came to a stand still.

In all the days we didn't have a child it used to hurt but no pain could ever surpass this measure. The pain of having to touch someone, love her, create good memories, have your fair share of bad days and only to lose them without the privilege to say goodbye. It's unbearable!

I felt my heart squeeze painfully and I knew I was never going to come back from this. This was just too much so I wailed. I screamed a very guttural sound that even I couldn't recognise as my own. I wanted to blame something . . . someone . . . anything that can actually give me solace to this misery. I knew that I was barren before but right now I feel like God is punishing me for a sin that was committed by my first generation of ancestors. Something unforgivable!

Why me?

I just can't figure it out.

Somewhere in the Circle

"She is sinking into the darkness, Didier" The woman observed in dispair. It was clear as daylight that the druid blood was tainted from the pain, the anger and the self-hate. It was becoming clear to her that all her efforts to nudge her to the right path have failed dismally.

She felt that she did what was right. That she was helping her gain entrance in the Rite Of Passage but now she was beggining to question her means of persuading the girl. Everyone seems to think she shouldn't have risked her Rite by opening the portal to communicate with an unpurified Druid who sullied their ways by opening more than just one portal to the human world. She should have never talked to a Dark Lord. Ariana knew that but she hated their self-imposed righteousness.

"So no one was willing to show the child the right Code of Conduct for our Covenance and yet you all spit accusatory words at my effort".

"We are not disputing your efforts to communicate with the Human, we are merely-"

"Oh spare me the crap Ariana! You know very well that she is the offspring of Sandra and Rudrik. Look at me in the eye and tell me she is just an ordinary 'human' as you claim" Vermin interjected.

"You want to risk us based on assumption Ariana"? Didier pressed, feeling that Ariana didn't think her decision to Illuminate the child thoroughly.

"Ofcourse you would ask that, am I surprised? You feel like the only one who actually has the answer, right? The only one who will ever be good enough for the job?" Ariana spat back. Didier was getting to her nerves and she was getting sick of her self rightiousness.

The walls started shaking and everyone stood to attention.

"Enough"

Rosetta's voice resounded firm and loud for everyone to pay attention and cease their childlike bickering. "Look at you all" she sent glares to the bickering women after observing each women's point of view. They both had a reason to reconsider and deliberate over and over again but there was no time to seek for satisfaction or pride.

"If a sister is in need then we have no reason to stay here and search for an enemy among us. The enemy is not in this room. Its not within the chambers and so start seeing that our real enemy is out there, gunning for the blood of our own. Are we to fight each other then instead of finding solutions to our existing predicament?

*sigh*

Never loose sight of the true evil. If the darkness is hard to fight then go out there and surrender outwardly than to show defeat infront of my eyes. So what if you are both right? What if you are both wrong? The answer will come from a civil conversation not defense and attack. So what do you say we talk about this like Royalty?"

Although she made it out to be a question but the other five women in the room didn't miss the command to be obeyed in her voice. They all slightly tipped their heads down in a bowing fashion to show respect to the elderly women. Her voice and presence commanded that whenever she graces a place with her presence. Her long satin golden white robe swaying gently as she gracefully moved around the room. Touching the high seats made of an unnamed material that seemed too soft to be called any fabric known to exist. One by one she traced her fingers on the seats making the women bow even further. She stopped on the last seat before going to the last seat at the head of the table. It's length reaching up to the ceiling while it's width so spacious that at least two people of fair body mass may fit in. The texture a swelling dark that set it stark apart from all the furniture in the meeting room. Rosetta came three feet to it and kneeled down without making further advances. She tipped her head and made a sign with her fingers to signal her sisters to pray. They chanted the druid prayer and settled back to their seats.

Rosetta: I believe it's time. Rudrik may make an appearance after returning from the land of the humans. we have had training and so I believe we are ready.

Didier: I hope we are still considering the fact that a child that is said to be one of ours opened a portal for the Lord of Vengeance to exact God knows what on the unsuspecting humans!

Ariana: We are ready to do whatever means necessary to protect the people we swore to protect.

The other three women hummed in agreement to the words of their fellow sister. They agreed mostly because the words were wise and true but also because they admired her subtle diversion from Didier's spiteful words. They commended that!

Rosetta: We all know what to do, our sole duties make us who we are but our will and commitment to serve the people make us the Last Druids in the universe! Its time we make a visit to the human world!
