Chapter 11: Scene 11

We have to get those to our ship. MA-2, signal the ship to send the RC mini craft disguised as a bird and make it land on our bathroom window.

In five minutes, a pigeon lands on their window. MA-2 goes to get the bird. As he holds it, it flutters wildly trying to free itself.

MA-2:

This is a real bird, and not our RC craft.

SA-1:

What's going on with us? Ask them if this is it.

About to contact their spaceship, a crow lands on their window.

MA-1:

That should be the craft. You caught a real live pigeon, MA-2.

MONTAGE:

MA-2 takes the crow and turns to a mini saucer craft just as he takes hold. On one of the beds, they lay it down. With SA-1's watch beamed to it, it opens like a portable CD player. Inside are several thumb sized test tubes. Unmindful, they put the hairs in two tubes, one marked female the other, male; back inside the craft; MA-2 puts the mini craft on the window sill; turns back into a crow and flies away; we follow the crow; soon as it reaches dark space, it turns into the craft and shoots away faster than the speed of light. Catching up with it as it approaches the ship, at the same speed but like a magnet, drives into an exact size compartment and reduces speed thru a shoot, finally docking in a Control Panel aperture.

BACK ON EARTH – EVENINGS – SERIES OF SHOTS

In the next ten days, the aliens were able to watch three more games between the Makers and the Bets. They shuttle from one venue to another, L.A. and New Jersey with Dan Hill. When in L.A. they're with Pamela and Tisha. The games were closely contested as the first they've watched. On some instances, their eyes and smiles show pleasure. The last game they watch in the ten days is in L.A. The aliens confide to each other before entering the venue.

SA-1:

Do the two of you have an indescribable feeling during the last game we saw?

MA-1 and MA-2, again look at each other in wonder.

MA-1 & MA-2:

(simultaneously)

Yes, we do. What could it be?

SA-1:

It must be our exposure to the emotions of human beings. Our dormant genes must be reforming its genetic code!

Their once monotone voices are starting to be expressive.

MA-2:

Even the way we talk, it is starting to become human-like!

MA-1:

Let's catch up with Pam, Tisha and Dan, they might notice us again talking this way.

INT. – L.A. MAKERS COLISEUM – NIGHT

The aliens made sure they sat beside each other. The pre-game rituals are over and we see that the game is on the third quarter. The Makers are behind by twenty points and they've won two of three games. As the game goes on, it is noticeable that the aliens are not pleased. Their reactions seem to be rooting for the Makers. They do not talk with each other compared to Dan, Pam and Tisha who react to calls and misplays. As the game is about to end with two minutes to go and the lead of the Bets has ballooned to thirty points, one after the other, the aliens stand to leave for the exit. The three humans couldn't believe it. None could say a word.

Outside, the aliens agree to what they feel . . .

MA-1:

I think this is what the humans say having a favorite.

MA-2 leaning on a car, hands in his pockets and looking down. .

MA-2:

Yeah . . . I think you're right!

SA-1:

So do I . . . so do I. We're not pleased that the Bets won this game easily. It's not like the other games.

After around twenty minutes, the three humans are with them in the parking lot. The two girls look at them amazed.

DAN HILL:

What's with you guys? That's only the fourth game and it's even at two-two!

The aliens don't say a word and just turn away their heads from the humans.

PAMELA:

C'mon guys, let's drown those feelings with a few bottles of beer, what do you say?

As if pricked on their butts with pins, turn around faster than they turned away . . .

SA-1:

We don't drink, but is that what alcohol does to this kind of feeling? (looking at MA-1 & MA-2 then to Pamela)

TISHA:

Sure thing!

DAN HILL:

I know a place exactly that can get us pumped up and do some rock and roll!

They quickly get in the car and Hill drives them to the red light district of L.A. The aliens awed by the activity the places have. People lining up to a disco pub. Men and women doing their own thing on the streets. Drunks weaving in and out of crowds. Hill parks the car alongside a disco pub where there are not much people.

DAN HILL:

This place is quite classy and expensive but nothing that I can't handle!

PAMELA:

Really? I haven't been in there!

TISHA:

You should try . . . it took half of my month's pay when I went there with a friend.

MA-1:

(showing a wad of bills)

Don't worry, we have some money here!

DAN HILL:

(eyes bulging)

That's not just some money! That's a whole-lot-of-money!

TISHA:

Holy shit! What do you guys do for a living?

SA-1 quick to catch on . . .

SA-1:

That's why we said we'll give you a call when we're done with our business?

PAMELA:

You're not drug dealers, aren't you?

MA-2:

Let's just say good investments pay real good money!

MONTAGE:

The group of six find themselves in the cozy exclusive bar. Hill is familiar with the employees. They are lead to an elevated section overlooking the dance floor and the band stage. Disco lights move around in beams of various colors and sizes. A black light beam passes their faces every two seconds showing the white of their teeth and eyes. Dan Hill holds a menu pointing to the waiter a bottle of Tequila and six bottles of beer. In a few minutes, the waiter serves them. Still a little depressed, SA-1 with his feet dangling a few inches above the floor, grabs the tequila bottle and sucks on it. Tisha's quick reaction takes the bottle from him and shows him how.

TISHA:

You fill this little glass… suck on a slice of lemon… put some salt on the back of your hand and lick it… then down the glass… PRESTO!

MONTAGE:

MA-1 and MA-2 observing the process closely does it quickly even before SA-1 does. The aliens' faces twitch and 'squirm' on their first taste of the lemon and tequila. Their faces show the tingling heat on their throat. Their eyes squint sharply. Pamela motions them to wash-over with beer. A moment of relief shows on their face. Pam, Tisha and Dan seated, dance to the tune of September by Earth, Wind and Fire. The aliens seem to be waiting, in quiet stillness, for the effect of their drink. Dan and Pam stand on their feet dancing to the music. Shortly, the aliens' eyes start to appreciate their surroundings and the music. MA-1 quick at aping human movements stands to ape Dan and Pamela. Not long, a second set of drinks are served with a plate of appetizer. All of them are having a good time! After consuming half of the second set of drinks, all of them move to the dance floor. All energetic and lost in the world of wining and dancing. After a third set of drinks later, all are woozy and groggy, they leave the disco pub, find their car and fall asleep inside.

It was almost mid-morning when they realize their situation. Lucky for Tisha it is a weekend, no work. With the hangover and headache, no one knows what to do next. It recurs in SA-1's mind that today is the tenth day after gene alteration.
