Chapter 2: Training
We see Carlth on the training room with Victor.
The place seems to look like a wide empty room with odd looking tubes on the side.
Just as well, it was some sort of a cyberpunk style with a mix of white, light purple and pink.
It looks really clean for a training room.
"Before we start, I'll explain you something" says Victor.
Carlth stares and listens.
"As a newbie, I know you might accidently do some horrible things so..." says Victor then aims for his pocket.
He then picks up a remote.
"I have this remote to immediately stop you by sending shocks on your neck" he tells.
"Lily also have this"
Carlth listens.
"Now, I'll tell you more about what's happening" says Victor as the room starts to go dark.
A hologram starts to appear and Victor moves to side.
"Machina, Play MP4 File Newcomer" he speaks on the air.
Suddenly, a robotic female voice echoed.
"2 Results found"
"Number one"
"Newcomer gets destroyed by filthy daddy"
"Number two"
"Newcomer Introduction"
Victor then clears his throat.
"Definitely not the first one" he says.
"Play Newcomer Introduction" he instructs Machina.
"Command received, Playing Newcomer Introduction dot MP4" says Machina.
Suddenly, images starts to appear as hologram further from Carlth's front.
It seems to be playing a video.
"Long ago, a virus attacked humanity that killed billions of people"
"The viruses evolved into physical forms as a sign of dominance"
"Although they're more vulnerable, they become stronger"
"We call them Corons"
"The disease they give gets worse and sides of earth ruled by them become unhabitable"
"We at Coroncure Co. started a team of highly intelligent scientists and formidable strong men to bring back the order and reclaim our lost lands and hopefully... the humanity as well"
"And you..."
"You are now part of the team"
"You we're chosen from around the world as we watch you with our drone"
"A whole team has decided that you are capable and therefore took you this far"
"The liquid injected to you is called "Traits Syrum" meant to increase human's capacity and probably add supernatural traits"
"We are now hoping that you will do your best to help us and at the same time... we will help you too"
"We got everything covered"
"A cyborg that would act as a decoy in case you left your family"
"Guranteed food supply for the family you left which we would deliver weekly"
"Your self needs such as a comfortable room, bed, health, food and nice people"
"We gurantee you'd get what you want while you work for us"
"In case you need more than this, you can still ask us what's that need you're looking for and we'll give it immediately"
"We appreciate your cooperation at Coroncure Co. and hope you enjoy staying with us!"
Video ends.
Lights starts to turn on and Victor appears.
"Now you heard it, wanna start the training?" he asks.
Carlth looks and him and replies.
"I get it now. Though I really feel weird about this" says Carlth.
Victor starts walking around then looks at him and asks.
"Are you experiencing withrawal? Wanna smoke before we start?" he asks.
"No, I'm cool" Carlth replied.
"Maybe let's just start the training... whatever that is" he suggests.
"Okay then" Victor replied.
Victor then starts staring the side again and speaks.
"Machina, Play Training dot MP4" he commands.
"1 Result Found"
"Training 1"
Victor then starts commanding Machina again.
"Play Training 1" he says.
Suddenly, room starts to go dark and a video starts to play.
"You will be called Mercenary"
"There are ranks of Mercenaries but you will start as the lowest"
"As you go up, we will instruct you to deal with more difficult missions"
Machine then starts showing images of viruses.
"As a low rank, you will only fight physical viruses and defeat them along with other members or alone"
"Physical Viruses we call Corons are ranked accordingly as well"
"CoronE"
A small monster was shown as an example, no arms and no legs.
"CoronD
A small monster was shown as an example, has arms and legs.
"CoronC"
A decent sized monster was shown, both has arms and legs and the other had none.
"CoronB"
A decent sized monster was shown as well, same with CoronC but its facial structure was recognizeable and aesthetic.
"CoronA"
Four photos were shown; A big monster, a monster with both arms and legs, a human like with tumors that looks like roots on its back and a winged monster
"Superior Coron (CoronS)"
5 photos we're shown as example; Looks exactly like human but had red eyes and oddly looking hands, another human with tumors and wields rifle, another human looking Coron with wings, a monster and a small little girl and little boy human with some sort of tumor on their stomach.
"Master Coron (CoronS+)"
2 Photos were revealed; Looks exactly like human, a monster with forms of a human, has a tail and looks aesthetic.
Victor then starts talking as he pauses the video.
"Those are the only Corons we could provide but there's probably more of them and doesn't match the photos you've seen" Victor tells.
"It's a matter of instinct for you to tell what's the level of the Coron you are facing" Victor adds then continues the video.
"For now, your mentor will summon CoronE level holograms that you will fight"
"Don't worry about the room as it is made to resist any attacks and repair itself almost immediately" Machina ends the video.
Victor then starts talking to Carlth.
"Now, we will start your training"
"You will be facing Low Level Corons and I'll watch how you deal with them"
"I don't know your traits yet so its for you to find out" Victor explains as he stands back and goes to a place where there's some sort of a computer and keyboard.
"Get ready" he tells.
Carlth then stood his guard.
Suddenly, 6 monsters starts to appear from the ground.
They looked like a shell-less snails and could be dealt easily.
Carlth starts stomping them to death, killing a total of three.
One of the other three starts jumping on him.
He used his elbows to knock each then stomps on the two, leaving the last one alone.
The last once charges upwards at him and he holds it by the mouth and splits it to half with his bare hands.
Hologram ends.
"Impressive" says Victor.
"It seems like you achieved increase in strength just like everyone"
"But I'm not satisfied" Victor suddenly changes tone.
"Show me something that you don't know"
"Some sort of magical powers as I call it" he tells.
Carlth then looks at him and speaks.
"I don't understand" he says.
"You'll get it" says Victor then summons 2 monsters.
The monster summoned was a purple skinned one and muscular while the other one is skinny and had long arms.
The muscular one starts charging at him and lands a punch.
Carlth dodges it and attempts a chop on its neck.
The Coron's neck splattered but it seemed to look like it does nothing because it still keeps on moving.
The skinny one starts running around and high speed.
Suddenly, it moves on his back and lands a kick.
By instinct, Carlth blocks it with the back of his arms.
Suprisingly, something different happened.
Some sort of a futuristic shield appears and Carlth was knocked back.
The idea was from the information he got while hallucinating way back.
(That's what I'm talking about) Victor speaks on his head.
Carlth then starts recalling everything.
Suddenly, two Uzi's starts to appear from his hands.
He then turns around and kicks the muscular virus back then shoots it with the summoned uzis.
It was crushed to bits and drops by its knees.
The skinny one starts getting itself together and charges at him.
Recalling his abilities, he managed to summon a sword and slashed it as it comes.
The slash was felt in slow motion.
Hologram ends and Carlth pants.
Victor claps at the distance.
"Impressive" he praises.
He then stops clapping and speaks.
"You earned Weapon Materialization" he tells.
"You seem to like weapons aren't ya?" he asks.
"I do have weapons way back. It was to defend myself from people who lost their minds" Carlth explains.
Victor then goes closer to him.
"Still good that you figured out your abilities" he tells.
"But I know someday, I'd see more of them"
"Just a note though, everything you do costs your energy so you might end up tired on a long fight"
"You can't just do them for free" Victor ends his statement.
He then holds Carlth's shoulders.
"I'm hoping for the best on ya" he says.
Carlth just looked.
Victor then removes his hands and says something.
"You should take a break now. Your first mission might probably come soon"
Now we see Carlth at the canteen as he carry a tray.
He seems to be looking around, probably looking for someone.
Just as he want, he sees Lily eating alone.
Lily waves.
Carlth quickly goes on front of her and they ate together.
"How's the training?" Lily asks.
"Easy" Carlth answers.
"Awesome, you're good" Lily replied then chews on a burger.
As Carlth has nothing to say, she looks at Carlth's food and asks.
"Why did you take just soup and fruits?"
"You can actually ask more than that" she says.
"I just want simple things, just like you wanting junk food" Carlth answers.
"Ohhhhh" Lily reacts.
They then started eating silently.
Lily really wants to talk but she's quite nervous and just ended up looking at Carlth in the eyes.
This stood for minutes and Carlth finds it awkward.
He then talks about it.
"Why are you looking at me?" he asks.
"I wanna talk to you more but I don't know what to say" says Lily.
They then paused.
Suddenly, Carlth speaks.
"I actually feel the same" he says then goes back to the food.
"Whelp, maybe we'd get closer in future" says Lily.
"I'm one of your mentors after all. Hope you'll do good on your first mission" she adds then miles.
"Thanks" says Carlth as he smiles back and continues eating.
