Chapter 8: Art

Red walked through the other clubs without much interest. Mist were sports clubs of one kind or another and there was even a quiz club. Eventually he arrived at the art room and found it to be extremely quiet and serene.

He saw a few people setting up painting, while one person was sculpting and another was using his painted palms to make a print work.

Red quietly knocked in the door of the room, arousing the members from their attention. They turned to look at the new person in the room.

"Hello, I am a new transfer student. May I know which club this is?" Red asked.

The girl who was busy painting was surprised to see Red speaking japanese so fluently and momentarily did not reply.

"Oh... this is the Art Club. We learn different kind of art forms according to our interests. Would you like to join?" The young woman asked.

Red smiled. "Indeed. I haven't been one who spent a lot of time on this kind of artform, but I do have an interest in learning."

"You are welcome to join." The girl said as she turned to look at another boy, who took out a register and a letter of registration.

Red completed the formalities and then sat down. "So how does this work?"

The girl spoke. "You must decide on an art form you would like to work on, then we can guide you."

"I'd like to learn to draw first then." Red replied.

"Very well, Nobi will teach you to draw. Is there something you are confident in teach us?" The girl asked.

"I can teach you how to shuffle cards." Red said with a smile.

"Interesting, can you give us a demonstration?" Nobi asked curiously. He didn't think this could be considered an art form.

Red stretched a hand out and a deck of cards appeared in his hand from nowhere, shocking everyone. He then began to perform flamboyant and dexterous shuffle tricks that wowed the audience.

"Wow, you are really talented! I'd like to learn this if possible!" The boy who was painting with palm prints exclaimed in excitement.

"Were you a dealer at a casino?" Someone asked jokingly.

"No, I was a magician at a circus." Red laughed.

Then he sat down to practice drawing. Nobi instructed him the basics about how to hold the pencil, shading and symmetry and assigned him images to draw.

Red's first drawing was atrocious. But Nobi was stunned because his second drawing appeared to have improved much more than before.

"You seem to have a talent for drawing." Nobi said in some shock. "Your second drawing is a marked improvement."

"I'm known to be a quick learner." Red laughed.

After club time was done with, Red decided to return home. As he walked to the parking area, he saw Goutou and Yui were heading there as well. Immediately Goutou snarled at Red, who simply shook his head and ignored him and Yui.

When Yui saw this she felt her heart turn even colder towards Goutou. She was very disappointed in his actions today. The two walked towards a black audi which was parked and had a chauffer waiting.

"Yui, I'll drop you home." Goutou said with a smiling face, and Yui nodded. Then they saw Red walking towards a black and grey sports bike, taking out a bikers jacket, gloves and helmet, wearing them on.

Yui was surprised. "Red, do you have the license to ride a bike?"

Red looked at Yui through the helmet. "I've got an Internal Biker's License. You want a ride?" He asked with an innocent smile.

Yui was put in a dilemma, but eventually she shook her head. "Goutou will be dropping me home."

Red nodded. "Alright, see you tomorrow." Then he vroomed off and disappeared from the school."

Meanwhile other students saw a sports bike with a suave biker zooming out of the campus.

"Wow, who was that? That looked like an expensive school bike!"

"I think it was the new gaijin transfer student!"

"Hey, don't use that term, it is rude. Have you heard him speak japanese?"

"I didn't realise the transfer student was a rich guy."

At that moment, the literature club finally left and came out to part from the school and heard the commotion.

"Red has a sports bike? How can he drive it? Isn't he seventeen?" Rin asked in shock.

The others simply shrugged while the thick rimmed glasses admirer of Rin snorted. "Just a rich show off that's all." He said rudely.

Meanwhile Red drove down to a famous bar in Shibuya to have a drink. With his confident experience, and being an obvious foreigner, he didn't have issues getting a drink. "Ha, can't wait to get to eighteen when I don't have to deal with this drama." He thought.

He had come here to establish first contact with Agent L's representative in Tokyo. Soon, a person who seemed to be in his twenties, Japanese, approached his table directly and sat down.

"We've been keeping tabs on you. I must admit, you move quick. Do you think you can get close to the Haruta family?"

"I can see the way forward, but I would appreciate if you don't rush me." Red replied as he sipped his cocktail. "What about the thing you promised me?"

"L did say you would bring it up. It will be supplied within a week." The man explained.

"How do I address you?" Red asked.

"You don't need to know. I'll appear if we need to talk." The man said.

Red laughed. "Very well. I have to head to a concert. I'll take my leave." Red got up and began to leave.

Hours later, Red drove his bike into an apartment complex and parked. He headed to the twentieth floor. As he was about to enter his new apartment, he found a familiar person entering the apartment beside him.

"It's you?"

"You love here?"

The two simultaneously asked each other. The woman was none other than Mayumi, the academic beauty from the literature club earlier.

"So Mr. Transfer Student lives here. Are you staying alone?" She asked.

"Yes."

"Then come to my house for dinner. My mom makes good food!" Mayumi said, pointing to the grocery bag in her hand. "She will just begin cooking now."

"As long as I'm not interrupting." Red replied.

Mayumi entered the house and immediately called out. "Mom, the new transfer student moved in next door. I called him in for dinner."

"Oh? Invite him in. It's good I asked you to bring more stuff than required." Mayumi's mom replied.
