When Yui heard Rin saying such things about Goutou she was shocked. She didn't say anything, but her thoughts began spiralling.
"So Goutou is such a person in front of others. Even today, I saw his violence myself. It seems he has been portraying a fake personality in front of me." Yui thought as she felt a pain in her heart.
Goutou felt like all the classmates had turned on him and decided to miss the day of school. The others in the class began talking about all the bullying Goutou has done and now he even picked a fight with the new transfer student.
"I saw him threatening Red on the track! It was why Red suddenly slowed down." A boy who was earlier in the third standing while running loudly said. "Even after that Red didn't hesitate to take Goutou to the infirmary."
"That Goutou is really scum. All he does is use his family background to bully others. Have you seen how he ignores everyone in class? He then dares to explode on our new student?"
"Look at Red. He seems to be troubled by this. That Goutou is such an ungrateful bastard. How did Yui fall for him?"
Red ignored all these gossips and took out a novel and began reading. Rin raised an eye in surprise.
"Red, you like Murakami sensei's works?" Rin asked in excitement as if she had found a kin.
Red nodded with a smile. "I once picked up 'Kafka on the Shore' and immediately fell in love with Murakami sensi's writing style."
"Haha, I didn't expect you to be a connoisseur of literature. You are so athletic, I thought you would be more into sports." Rin said.
"I am good at sports, but I do like reading as well. I always try to learn new things, no matter how esoteric they seem. They give me a new perspective on life." Red replied with a smile.
"Do you really have weird hobbies?" Rin asked doubtful. This Red seemed like a typical Riajuu, perfect in life.
"Since you doubt my credentials, I'll let you see something interesting." Red laughed.
He took out a sheet of paper from his backpack and began folding it. Soon it turned into a paper airplane. Ahead of him, Yui had quietly turned to see what Red was going to do.
Rin laughed when she saw what Red was making. "It looks like a paper airplane, but it seems to be a very complicated design!"
Red nodded. "I once spent a month trying to make the perfect paper airplane. I learnt a lot about aerodynamics and how the wind works from that experience."
Red then took the folded paper plane and blew a breath before it as he let his hand go. Suddenly, the paper plan began flying like it was magic. Just a breath allowed it to fly. It was initially slow, and looked like it was going to fall, but suddenly gained speed and then flew higher. Eventually it disappeared into the horizon, with no sign of falling down.
Rin looked dumbfounded. "A paper plane can fly forever?" She asked with a stupefied look.
"Not forever, but it can probably fly out of the city, haha." Red laughed.
Rin looked at Red. "Can you teach me how to make it?"
Red nodded. "Sure, why not!"
After the classes ended. Red sighed. He looked tired. Rin thought of something. "Red, are you planning to join any club?"
"Sure, if I find something interesting, I don't mind joining it." Red replied with a yawn.
"Well, let me take you to look at my club then. It is the literature club." Rin said as she clenched her fist.
Red laughed. "Lead the way, lady!"
The two laughed as they walked towards the small classroom that was assigned for the literature club. There were only six members including Rin. All of them except another boy who had extremely thick rimmed glasses were from other classes. The boy was constantly stealing glances at Rin, who was laughing with Red, gritting his teeth. Such fluctuations in emotions were not missed by Red.
Red suddenly bent down and whispered into Rin's ear. "It seems you have an admirer here, who seems to be wary of me."
"Ha? Huh... cough.. what?" Rin asked in shock. Red simple smiled and didn't reply to her. Instead, he noticed that the thick rimmed glasses boy was staring at him with undisguised hatred.
Rin coughed. Then she announced. "This is my new desk mate, and a new transfer student. I brought him to check out our literature club. His name is Red!"
The literature club was small and other than Rin there was only one other girl, who seemed to be a senior as well as the leader of this club. The others were guys and when they saw Red, they suddenly felt disheartened.
"We can't let a Riajuu enter our club!" They secretly thought.
The leader was a well formed woman. Her glasses seemed very trendy and gave her the look of an academic beauty. She had long brown hair, not too different in color from Red's own brown hair.
She spoke eloquently and explained the literature clubs meetings and the work. Red nodded as he listened. The two discussed about books for a bit as well as recent trends in writing for a while.
Eventually Red smiled apologetically. "This is a great club. And it was great discussing with senior Mayumi about books. But I'm looking for something new to do and different."
Mayumi also understood Red's nature after discussing with him. He seemed to be someone in constant search for new excitements. An adventurer. "It is a pity we can't have a person like you in our club. But I had good vibes exchanging ideas with you. How about we exchange numbers?"
Red nodded as if he didn't really care much about these things. Rin had to stay in the club, so Red bid her goodbye and left to check out other clubs.
