Chapter 6: Games
"You can head back to class. I'll wait for Goutou." Yui said.
Red shook his head. "I don't mind waiting. The important thing is that Goutou is fine. Why don't you have a seat?"
Yui was still pacing around in worry. She thought about it and then sat down on the other edge of the waiting couch.
"Want a play a game as we wait?" Red asked her.
"Game?" Yui asked as she frowned.
Red took three plastic cups from the water cooler and placed them upside down on the table in front of them. Then he waved his hand and suddenly, a metal ball bearing appeared in his hand out of nowhere.
Yui was surprised. "How did you do that?" She asked.
"A Magician doesn't reveal his secrets." Red laughed. "I'll put the ball in this cup and then rotate the cups quickly. You have to guess the cup the ball is in." He explained with a smile.
Yui was curious, so she nodded. Red was smirking inwards. "Sure enough, these stupid magic tricks are the easiest way to get a girl's interest."
He quickly put the ball in a cup and then quickly began rotating the cups. The he took away his hands, and asked Yui to pick a cup. She picked one.
Red quickly opened the cup and there was no ball there at all. Yui selected the cup on the other side which didn't contain the ball either. She frowned as she was sure that the ball was in either of those two. But then Red opened the third cup and the ball wasn't there either.
Yui was stunned. When did Red disappear the ball? Red smiled as he saw her dumbfounded look. "Actually, the ball is not on me, but I can take it out." He said with a laugh.
He suddenly slid on the couch, coming right next to Yui and moving his head towards Yui's ear. Yui was stunned by Red's sudden move and couldn't move. Her heart rate suddenly increased like a rocket.
"The ball... is here." A whisper of a breath fell on her ear, flushing her entire face scarlet, as Red's other arm suddenly pulled out the ball from Yui's other side. He quickly slid back to his location like nothing happened and tossed the ball to Yui.
"You can keep this." He said with a smile.
Yui wanted to scream, but her heart was beating so loudly and her face was red as a tomato. She looked at the ball and saw that Red didn't seem to have realized that he invaded her personal space at all.
"Looks like he was just trying to complete the magic trick." Yui thought to herself as she saw Red's pure laughter. Meanwhile Red was smirking inside. He had noticed Yui's reaction. As a master thief, understanding body language is a crucial part of the preparation. How could he not know the turmoil within Yui's heart?
"There's no rush. I'll work on her slowly and steadily." Red laughed inside.
Yui suddenly felt guilty when she thought about Goutou. However, at that moment, Goutou suddenly came out of the infirmary. He saw that Red was sitting with Yui on the same couch and they seemed to be talking. Yui was even blushing. He immediately flew into a rage. He had seen Red's cold eyes earlier, and knew that this Red was clearly challenging him on Yui.
He suddenly walked beside Yui and gripped her hand. Yui was shocked by the tight grip of Goutou. She suddenly saw the look of rage in Goutou's eyes and a chill came in her heart.
"She's mine. You stay away from her, you rascal." Goutou yelled in an imperious voice, his face ugly and colored with anger and hatred towards Red.
Red simply looked dumbfounded and din't say anything. Goutou dragged Yui away by her hand and walked away. When the two left, Red's dumbfounded look disappeared and a playful smile appeared on his face.
As Goutou dragged Yui's hand while walking towards class, he suddenly felt her pulling her hand away. She caressed the indents formed by the heavy handed grip of Goutou.
"Goutou, how can you be so disgusting?" She screamed in anger. Her eyelashes had a hint of tear in her eye as she ignored him and walked back to the class alone. Goutou stood at the same place looking dumbfounded.
Suddenly he saw Red casually walk toward him with a smile on his face. "Bruh, it's only the first day and you've already seemed to have lost the plot. Step up your game, or Yui won't be around you much longer." He said in a quiet sneer that only Goutou could hear.
"You...! How dare you come between the two of us?" Goutou gritted his teeth as he yelled out loudly.
Suddenly the corridor turned silent as everyone turned to look at Goutou, and also saw Red looking shocked, hurt, surprised and confused.
Many of the people in the class came out when they heard that and saw Red's face. Red simply shook his head and walked back to the class.
Inside the class Rin looked at Red who seemed to be troubled. "Red what happened between you and Goutou?"
Red shook his head as if he didn't understand himself. "It seems Goutou hates me for some reason." He said sadly.
Yui who was sitting ahead of Red trembled and she turned and looked at Red. "Red, thank you for helping carry Goutou to the infirmary today. I'll apologize to you for his rudeness, I didn't think he had such a side to him." She said, her face clearly embarrassed. She had just heard Goutou's yell just now amd became even more shocked and stunned.
Red shook his head. "You don't need to apologize Yui. It isn't your fault. I will try to talk to Goutou and clear up any misunderstandings that I seem to have caused." Red said with a gentle smile.
Rin looked at Red and sighed. "Red you have to be careful. Goutou is from a very influential family. Even if doesn't dare to directly harm an international student like you, but he is a very vindictive person. Just avoid him in the future."
