Chapter 20: You guys are my family
*next morning
I woke up and stretched myself. I turned and saw Jimin sleeping. He's done a lot yesterday so I didn't disturb him and went to do my morning routine.
I checked the time and it was 6:30. I woke up so early.
Today's the second day. I've still got a lot more to go. I should better learn to control myself.
I went and sat on the couch. No one had woken up yet.
My grandmother came to my mind. Then I thought about what she said.
Could it be true? Or is it just my dream?
I got disturbed by the door knob twisting. It was Jin oppa.
"Good morning oppa!" I said. He got scared as I said suddenly.
"Good morning y/n. What are you doing this early?"
"I didn't get sleep so I'm here." I said and looked at him.
"Want some company?" He asked.
"Sure." I smiled and said. He smiled back.
He sat beside me and I turned towards him.
"Y/n, are you feeling better now?" He asked.
"I'm trying to. I just wanna get over it and I'm doing my best." I said a bit sad.
"Don't worry. We're here to make you feel home." He said.
I smiled at him. I have to do something for them. They've cared for me a lot and brought out the best in me. I really have to do something that gives them happiness.
"So, what do you wanna eat?"
"I don't know. I'm fine with anything."
"Ok. But I'll need a hand."
"I'll sure help you." I said and we headed to the kitchen.
I helped him to cut veggies and mix the ingredients.
One by one they stole up and sat on the couch.
*after few minutes
We finished making breakfast and we kept it on the table.
"Breakfast's done!" We both shouted from the table.
"Ok!" They shouted in unison and we all laughed for no reason.
We gathered together and I served everyone and some for myself and we started eating.
*time skip
It was almost 2:00 pm. We just ate and did nothing else.
We got seated on the couch and were talking some shit. I didn't pay any attention to what they were talking cause I didn't listen to it.
"Now, let's continue with the game." Jin oppa said, and it was the only thing that entered my head.
We got ready and seated ourselves opposite to him.
"In this game, you'll be playing in a group, same as yesterday. Let's change the group now." He said and observed each of us.
"I've decided. In the first group, Hoseok, Y/n, Taehyung and Yoongi. In the second group, Jimin, Jungkook, Namjoon and Lisa." He said and we gathered with our group.
"First let's decide a team name. This group, what would you like to keep your team name as?" He asked pointing towards our group.
"Let's keep it simple and easy. A team members name would be great. Let's keep it 'Kim Taehyung'." I suggested.
They accepted it too. I felt a bit bad for what the others might think, while I chose his name and not theirs.
"Ok. And this group what would you like to keep your group's name as?" He asked the other group.
"KIM SEOK JIN!" Jimin shouted.
"Yah, Jinjja? Every time you use my name even though I'm not part of the game." He said in the same tone as he said before while Taehyung had asked to tell who won.
We laughed at his cute behaviour and continued to the game.
"I'll be asking you questions and you'll be answering them. It's basically like a riddle. There will be some 'what will you do?' kinda questions also. Which ever group answers the most and gives the best answer, will win this round." He said and took out a sheet.
I was so ready for this. I loved solving riddles when I was a kid but I lost in touch with it while growing.
"Ok, here goes the first question." As he said we all were on the edge of our seated area.
"Sit comfortably. It's not like you're on a race track." Jin said as he saw us all near to him.
We looked at each other and sat back.
"First question, there's a one-story house in which everything is yellow. Yellow walls, yellow doors, yellow furniture. What colour are the stairs?"
I thought again and again what he said. The others were thinking a lot too.
"Kim Taehyung!" I said and they all looked at me.
"What?" Taehyung asked.
"Pabo that's our team name. Kim Taehyung, I know the answer." I said and looked the others. They were a bit scared to not loose.
"Jinjja you know the answer?" Taehyung stopped me and asked before I could tell.
"Trust me." I said and turned towards Jin oppa.
"There aren't any stairs, cause it's a one-story house." I said and looked for an answer from Jin oppa.
"Jeongdab! (correct answer)" he said.
"Woah that was good." Taehyung said.
"Ok next. It belongs to you, but others use it more than you. What is it?"
"Kim Seok Jin!" Namjoon shouted.
"Your name." He said.
That was too fast. Maybe he knew it.
"Correct!" He said and marked the points in another sheet of paper.
Like this we played many rounds of riddles. I was expecting a 'what will you do' questions. But as of now he didn't ask any of those questions.
*after few rounds
"You've got some good marks. Now let's move on to 'what will you do?' situation questions. In this you can play as an individual. It's your wish." He said.
"It's better to play as a team than individual." Namjoon said and we agreed to it.
"Ok. The first question, if you could change your gender for a week, would you do it? Do you think it's easier being a female or male?"
This made us into a lot of thinking.
"Let's hear two people from each group. So who goes first?" Jin oppa asked.
"We need some time to discuss." I said and he nodded.
We first decided whose gonna talk for the first round.
"Just tell your opinion. Common point is we can talk about either one or both. So I and yoongi oppa will go first then Taehyung and Hoseok oppa will go for the second. The third round we'll change." I said.
They agreed. "We'll go first." Lisa's team said.
The first to talk were Namjoon oppa and Jungkook.
"Let's start. Namjoon." Jin oppa said and Namjoon oppa said,
"Yes, I would change my gender for a week. Being a female is difficult. And I would like to witness it by being one. By experiencing, I could change my behaviour and help them."
It was actually good. He really wanted to understand women's pains and feelings.
"Nice! Next up, Jungkook." Jin oppa said and it was his turn.
"Yes, I too would change my gender. As hyung said, I've seen a lot of women hardworking. I too would like to experience it. And as a female for a week, I would help out all the female and protect them from any harm. I would support their choice and be kind to them henceforth."
After hearing them two talk, I never thought they would think like this about us females.
I came back to my sense when Jin oppa called out to our team.
"Now Kim Taehyung team. Who would go first?" He asked and yoongi oppa went first. Thank god he went cause I don't like to talk first.
"Yes, I too would change my gender. I do accept with Jungkook and Namjoon. In my childhood, my mother worked hard for us. I rarely used to talk with her. She must have felt sad obviously. Being in a women's place, I could witness how she felt and maybe change myself, my behaviour and be a good person and help them out in their life."
I was so deep into his words. Everyone would think about their parents difficulties if asked a question like this.
"Ok, now y/n. Your turn." Jin oppa said and I was staring blank.
"Y/n, your turn." He said a bit loud and I realised I had to talk.
"Sorry. I was deep into thoughts." I said and continued,
"I would change my gender to a male for a week. According to me, being a male is more difficult than being a female. As a male, there's a lot that he does. As the head of the family, he works hard to earn. He hides his feelings and makes us happy. He does everything for you. As a girl, I would like to experience a week in the life of a male. How much pain they control and try to make us happy and try to help them. There are men who care a lot about their loved ones, they are there to hear out our problems, but there aren't anyone to hear out their problem. I would like to help them out by solving their problems, sharing their emotion too. But everyone is meant to be the way they are. Males are males and females are females. But it would be great if it was the opposite for few. But they are perfect the way everyone is." I finished and let out a deep breath. All I could think about at that moment was my dad. The things he's done for me and how he showed he was happy, even though I knew he was not.
"Wow!" Taehyung whispered but I could hear. I looked at him and saw the entire group staring at me.
"I'm done." I said but there wasn't any response for sometime.
"We better head to the next situation." Jin oppa said. I shrugged and sat back.
"Next question. You find a book and begin to read only to discover that it is your life. You get to the point that you are now, do you turn the page knowing that you will not be able to change the events to come?"
"We'll go first." Taehyung said.
"Ok." Jin oppa said.
"I will not read further. I'll close the book and just let it go. Let whatever need to happen, happen. Even though by reading it, I can't change it. I might be curious, but I'll keep the book away and try my best not to read it after. If I can't, I'll destroy it."
I was amazed by his answer.
"Next, Hoseok."
"I too would not read it. As Taehyung said, let whatever happen on its own. But I won't destroy it. I'd keep it safe and read it after the day has ended and know what has happened in that day. Reading further also, you can't change what's written. And its more like a before written diary. While we grow and become old, I could read it and see the difference between then and now."
That was good. I would've done the same as Hoseok oppa said. I'd keep it and read it in my future until that present day.
"Nice answers from this group. Let's move onto the next group. Kim Seok Jin, who's gonna talk first?"
"I'll go." Lisa said and started.
"I would read further. I know I can't change it but at least I would like to know what's gonna happen next. If there is any problem, I can be ready for the situation in before hand and let it happen. If it's sad I can shed my tears before. "
She too had a point. If there was something like that and I would've read it, I could've spent time with my grandma.
"Nice. Jimin." He pointed to him and asked.
"I would read it. But only the next day, not any further. I'd read what'll happen the next day and as Lisa said, I'd know what'll happen next for that day and try to take it all in."
His answer was short and crisp. Mine was like the lengthiest of all.
"Ok. I've got some good answers from everyone. I have a question that's for everyone. You'll answer individually."
We waited for him to say something.
"If you want to tell your future self something, what would you say?"
This was a good question. What would I say to my future self? Got it!
"Let's start from this side. Namjoon." Jin oppa said pointing at Namjoon oppa.
"To my future self, I'd say to work hard. Take things easy and cool. Not think what others say about me."
"Next up Lisa."
"If I had to say something to my future self, I'd say not to worry over small things, everything happens for a reason. Live a happy life."
"Jimin."
"I'd say to pursue my dream. No matter what obstacles come, cross them and achieve your dream job."
"Jungkook."
"I'd say to try out new things. Be adventurous and stay healthy for long."
"Yoongi."
"Spend more time having fun and not pressurise myself."
That was short and made a lot of sense.
"Hoseok."
"I'd say to get into a job. Dance can maybe be a part time. Cause I can't depend on dance for my entire life. A simple work which can make me concentrate a bit more on dance."
"Taehyung."
"I'd say to focus on one thing. Whatever you want to do, just think about that. It doesn't matter what others say about it. You like it, that's it. They are no one to decide my life."
"Last but not least, Y/n."
"But before that, I would like to hear from you oppa." I said.
"Yes. We'd like to hear from you too." The others also started asking him.
"Ok. If I had to say anything, I'd say to enjoy my life cause we all live only once. Even though hardships come, take it easy and always show a smile."
"Now, Y/n, you say." He continued.
"If I meet my future self, I'd say that you can't get good and amazing friends like you guys. They were family who stood by you no matter what happened. You can never get a family like this even if paid. Never ever forget that. If you're here, at this position or place, it's all by their support and love. Keep in touch with them always. This is what I'd like to say." I said.
"Y/n, do you really think us as family?" Jin oppa asked.
"Yes. I've literally lost everyone, and you guys were the one who encouraged me, who made me forget the feeling of not having a family. You all mean so much to me." I said and felt lucky to have friends like that.
I looked at them. They were at the verge of crying. Maybe I got them emotional. I didn't want to spoil their mood like this.
"I'm sorry to get you guys emotional." I said and got up and left to my room.
