Chapter 25: Chapter 25: Birthday party part 1
The drive to the party seemed to be never ending as a certain devil doesn't seen to understand what personal space is and sat way to close to me as if I would run away.
Just thinking about it made we want to face palm, I mean I am already in his car, it isn't like I will jump out!!
"Are you ready for tonight?" he asks in what I think I detected to be a concerned tone, but I may be kidding myself, it could just be this iceberg trying to make small talk.
"Yes." I say simply.
"After tonight, the world will know your face, but don't worry, I will protect you." he says as he frowns at the numerous insects he will have to keep off his little goddess.
I just look at him confused, I wasn't worried at all but I choose to not tell him that.
A few minutes later we arrive at the venue where are we escorted around the back so no one will see me.
The venue my brother chose is an extremely fancy hotel that is very elegant and classy.
I take mental notes of the decor as we are walking through the back doors to the back of the stage.
Out of curiosity, I walk up the curtain that outlooks the large stage and enormous show room.
I peak my head out the curtain and see my brother and grandpa are on the stage and theres a pretty decent band playing some low classical music, it kind of makes me sleepy, but suits the occasion.
I look away from the stage and see a large crowd made up every well known family in the area and some from afar, I smirk seeing the Coward family here.
Melody and Braxton are hanging out in a corner of the room with Luke looking like a third wheel and that makes me giggle quietly.
My attention is suddenly shifted to the line of chefs bringing out trays of food and I am so tempted to just sneak over and fill a plate.
I think of how to go about this new mission and rub my hands together.
Meanwhile, behind Serenity is a devil who is smiling at his little goddess whose eyes are sparkling and is behaving like a gluttonous cat up to no good.
With this in mind and not wanting her to give herself away, he pulls her back into his embrace and takes in her natural fragrance that's unique to her, it's like a combination of vanilla and lavender.
Just her scent can calm anyone down.
He glares at the idea of other men being near her tonight.
'It's going to be very busy tonight keeping pests away from my little beauty.' he thinks with a sigh but continues hugging her close to him not paying any mind at her puffed up angry cheeks at her plans being foiled.
"Hey, can you let me go now?" I whisper.
"Nope." Colton replies simply, without hesitating.
"Why?" I complain annoyed.
"Well, your gluttonous little self was practically about to float over to the food table." He says humorously.
I tilt my head upwards to see his face with a raised eyebrow now looking down at me and I suddenly realize, even with 5 inch heels on, this devil is still like 3 heads taller than me.
I need to drink more milk.
"I was not going to do that at all." I respond with a slight blush to my cheeks and I am grateful it's dark or else he may see.
"Sure, sure." he says and then smiles sinfully as he uses one hand to rub my cheek near my lip, and then without warning I feel soft lips pressed against mine from an odd angle making me blush furiously.
I mean this is technically my first kiss in this life and even in my last life, I died a virgin!
I am not used to too much intimate contact besides holding hands.
He chuckles, "Sorry, you had a little drool there."
I am pretty sure I look like a pissed of blowfish in the shade of lobster right now with how embarrassed I feel.
I immediately shift my head down, "There was not." I say shyly.
"Your right, there wasn't, I just thought you looked rather cute with your cheeks all puffed up and embarrassed so I wanted to kiss you." He says with a smirk that gets him reward with a slap on the arm from me and I use my heel to stomp on his foot forcing him to release me.
"Humph!" I sigh annoyed as the curtain opens at the side and Hayden finishes his speech thanking everyone for attending, hoping they enjoy themselves and then raises his hand welcoming me to the stage.
"I would like to introduce you all to the reason everyone is all here tonight, to celebrate her birthday, please welcome my precious baby sister, Serenity Hunter!" he says enthusiastically as I begin walking out from the side of the stage.
As she walks out on the stage, gasps and applause can be heard from the crowd, her dress seems to glitter under spotlight causing everyone to be bedazzled at how she looks like an ethereal moon goddess in high white dress with her golden waist length hair cascading around her.
Some girls were already seething in jealousy, especially the few that have stirred some bad blood with her.
All kinds of opinions were swirling amongst the crowd as they perked up their ears to listen to what she will say after taking the microphone from her brother.
"Hello everyone, I appreciate you all for coming out to celebrate my birthday with me! Thank you!" I say keeping it short and sweet and making sure to flash a smile at the Coward girl who seems to shrink in anger noticing me, before giving Hayden back the microphone.
Hayden hugs me and winks at me as he takes the microphone and tells everyone to continue mingling.
I walk up to grandpa who looks like he's seated on a throne upon the stage as he people watches.
"Serenity, you look beautiful, you truly have your mother's looks and talents." he says as if reminiscing in the past.
I smile back and hug him.
He returns the hug then shoos me away to have fun as some old family heads come to speak to him.
I nod at them politely and make nice for a few minutes before going into the crowd with my eyes glued on the food table.
Getting to the food table was very difficult as I was stopped every few minutes to have to force a smile on my face and talk to insignificant people.
After what felt like hours of forced mingling, I finally escaped and made a deerline for the buffet.
Before I can reach the plates to get food, my arm is grabbed from behind forcing me to stop and turn around.
I hold in my irritation and turn around with a smile.
Seeing who it is makes me smirk, "Hello, did you need something?"
"You bitch! Are you treating me as a fool?!" the coward girl says angrily.
"I don't know what you are talking about, but you are sure showing everyone you are fool without me doing anything." I say with a slight smile.
She glares angrily, "Don't play stupid, you pretended to be a nobody in order to get revenge against me."
"I gave you my name, and you chose to be ignorant. It was your own arrogance that led you to your humuliation." I say simply and turn around leaving her stunned.
I slowly turn back to warn, "You should be more careful with your childs play, I am not as nice. You will soon see the effects your play has caused for your family." I say with a grin as her face twists in fear and anger.
You see, in the last couple weeks I had some time to myself.
In that time I managed to take the black web storm as I hacked into several supposedly top level companies. That was just for fun honestly, but apparently it put a few CEO's on high alert. Which they should be considering how weak their security defense was. It didn't even take me two minutes to break through. Boring.
You may not know why I am saying this, but it is because in about 5 minutes, the program I developed to slowly buy out all the Coward family stocks will activate and alert everyone in the room.
She may not understand what humiliation is yet, but I feel like once she has had to sell everything and is forced to live in a run down apartment while desperately trying any means to get by, she may finally have an attitude adjustment. She needs to learn to humble herself.
I sigh, maybe I am too nice.
If anyone could hear her thoughts, they would sure be angered to death and probably vomit blood.
Weak systems? Those companies were among the top 10 in the world.
Too nice? Well, all I can say is that I pity the girl who couldn't differentiate a diamond from a rock.
Ugh, I had to spare so much effort on explaining things to that girl.
I grab a plate and then go to the food buffet as I feel my tummy rumbling just by the sight of all the delicacies in front of me.
Finally! The only reason I actually did not deny this party! Food.
From little croissant sandwiches to macaroni balls to sushi rolls to cranberry meatballs, so many different options, I think I am actually drooling now.
My brother is so good to me, I think as I grab one of each to sample and decide with reluctance to sample the desserts afterwards since my plate was full.
I was about to go take my plate to find Melody, but almost bumped into said person who also had a plate full of food, she managed to actually sneak away from Braxton and Luke for food.
We really are fated friends.
She smiles wide at me, "Oh my god, Serenity! Sarah's face just now was epic." she says while laughing as she moves her plate into her other hand and links elbows with me.
I raise an eyebrow confused, "Who is Sarah?"
Melody just acts like she wants to face palm but has no hands to do so, "My bad, she is the girl from who you call the Coward family."
"Oh right. I just wanted food and she stopped me." I say seriously as we walk toward the sliding doors to find a table on the patio.
We step out onto the patio that over looks a gorgeous lit up garden with a giant water fountain.
Admiring the scenery, we decide to sit at a table in the center so we can admire the scenery of the garden while we enjoy our food.
Yum, I love food.
I suddenly remembered Colton and looked around to find him with an annoyed face at being surrounded by a bunch of butterflies and their mothers who look at him like a piece of money meat.
I shake my head and decide it's not worth the effort to call him over since he would probably attract the butterflies here too and that would just be annoying.
I make a mental note to buy him some bug repellant in the future.
I don't know why, but seeing him around other girls makes me kind of irritated.
I decide not to dwell on it though.
My phone vibrates with an alarm telling me that the Coward families shares have just zeroed out.
I look toward the direction, I last saw them to see Mr. Coward looking at his phone like is about to pass out from shock. I
Suddenly everyone's phone goes off with texts and pictures of evidence with all the Coward families dirty deeds and then a last text showing their now empty bank account that was drained by the bot I created.
I smile happily as they panic and hurriedly run out of the room. I am sure they will try all means to figure out who brought their downfall, but by the glares aimed at them, I am sure no one will be willing to help them investigate. Even if they did, I leave no traces.
I didn't think it could get any better, but I was wrong that idiot father, crashed into a waiter holding a tray of drinks and managed to somehow trip at the same moment avoiding the drinks as they emptied all over the unfortunate Coward girl who was behind him. Brilliant. Couldn't have planned it better myself. Classic.
I finally release my laughter that I have been holding in while Melody wasn't even trying to hide how amused she was and had been laughing since she saw the bigger man trip and land on his face.
Just when I am about to turn my attention back to the macaroni ball on my plate, I see a certain white lotus in the crowd that looks to be scheming with the girl I barely recognize as the one who pushed me down the stairs that led to my coma.
I almost forgot about that girl, you know what they say, 'Out of sight, Out of mind.'
Seeing them, my eyes frost over.
