Chapter 6: my family
a few months after my conversation with mister seiei I was moved into avalon manor my new home and was also overseeing the deconstruction of the exia as we had to take it apart in order to build the upgrades akame did finally draw me in and we began dating to the surprise of literally no one as it was pretty common for a mechanic and pilot to be dating
once I made certain that my staff at avalon manor could be trusted i moved the defiance to the hanger under avalon manor and had them arm the defiance with more than just beam sabers I decided that when the exia striker was complete I would begin drawing up blueprints for the defiance I already had a few ideas but that was for when the exia striker was complete I also was getting perfect marks in school and was over all a genius in almost every aspect there was one problem that was I kept disappearing to the defiance as that mobile suit was practically my only family other than it I was alone I mean sure there's akame but she knows almost nothing about me so she can't comfort the fact that I was technically born on the battlefield as that's where I woke up, in a mobile suit literally in the middle of the battlefield I was just fortunate that said battlefield was a forest
"hey why do you constantly disappear you do realize that daisuke, tsukasa, and especially me are worried about you" akame said on one particular date I sighed
"let's find those two and I will show you where I disappear to and why" I said she nodded we found the idiots in the hanger watching the exia being taken apart which by the way was ahead of schedule
"why am I not surprised your here" I said
"your her head mechanic right" tsukasa asked
"I am" I said
"then may we ask why her machine is being taken apart" tsukasa asked and I was bewildered as I looked at akame
"my father and I agreed to keep your project a secret of course your free to tell anyone you wish it is your project" akame said that made sense to me so I nodded
I beckoned them to follow me to a screen in the hanger that I of course had access to I pulled up the complete exia striker and started explaining
"this is my evolution to gundam exia I named it gundam exia striker now unfortunately the mobile suit had to be completely taken apart as most of the upgrades had to be built with the machines armor" I said they just stared at me
"these plans are amazing I didn't think a machine like this would be possible how would you control all those funnels" daisuke asked
"that even akame and Mr seiei don't know yet however they will soon find out" I said
"speaking of which" akame said and I knew what she meant
"follow me and keep up I will explain when we get there" I said they nodded
we went back to avalon manor I went to the secret door to the hanger and opened it muttering another gift from Mr seiei as we entered I began becoming quite solemn and my companions could see it when we got down the last step we went through a hallway until we came to the hanger and I showed them the defiance
"this is where I constantly disappear off to that is the defiance gundam my only family" I said very quietly
"I don't understand" akame said
"I remember nothing about my past further than about a month before I joined high school I woke up in the defiance" I said
"yes but who do you talk to" akame asked confused as to how I can call a gundam family
"akito" I called
"online" akito replied
"does that answer your question in fact that voice is the only thing I found familiar but I have never been able to figure out who it sounded like" I said then I figured there was no reason to waste power
"akito shutdown"
and you could here the system powering down
"you woke up in the cockpit" akame asked
"on the battlefield" I said
"but then I would think you'd want to run as far away from the machine as possible" daisuke said knowing the curse of the qubeley and comparing my machine to that nightmare I was slightly insulted but only slightly
"does the defiance look like the qubeley" I asked
"the only similarity between the defiance gundam and the qubeley is that I woke up in the cockpit but there are major differences for one thing akito I don't think there was an AI in the qubeley do you for another no one was controlling me and for the third while I did wake up in the middle of a battlefield I did not fight once I just dodged all of the battles on said field mostly because that particular battlefield was the forest" I said
"that makes sense now that I think about it" daisuke said I nodded
"akito was the one who taught me about the world and about how to be a proper pilot in fact akito was more of a teacher figure always there if you need assistance" I said emphasizing my point that the qubeley and the defiance had nothing in common
"I'm sorry I never said anythi..." I was cut off by akame who decided to kiss me and more passionately than ever before surprising the hell out of me in the process
"you don't need to feel sorry we understand hell the first thing we did when you started explaining was compare your family to that cursed mobile suit we completely understand but I ask that you treat us and especially me as family their your friend and I'm your girlfriend after all" she said all I could do was nod when she let go she looked at it again
"you have the plans to upgrade it to suit your blast everything to hell fighting style" she said still remembering there battle
"already have the plans in my head but my only problem is I'm broke although I can tell you this now the reason why I became a mechanic was for that one machine" I said
"I will talk to my father about giving you our other gundam's and enough money to completely upgrade your unit I'm sure he will agree" akame said
"I already owe your father tons" I said
"no you don't and you never will this will be thanks for the exia" akame said and I had a defeated look on my face but you could tell I was excited for what the future may hold
