Chapter 88: Two Down, None to go?

I stared at the split slime god for a moment and quickly ran away to create a distance between me and the three gods.

'I get the feeling that this is going to get even more troublesome soon...'

{Knowing you? It will.}

'You never fail to inspire me.' I said sarcastically.

{It's what we do best. Now get back to slaying some gods, we don't have all day.} The Gods commented impatiently.

"Fine." I muttered, refocusing myself on the three gods.

The ebonian god was the closest to me, but I was hesitant to attack it as it has yet to split itself.

I decided to attack the crimulan god instead, as I doubted that it would split more than once.

I dashed at the slime, still wielding the sunfury, and attacked immediately, throwing my flail at the slime aggressively.

It tore through the god, unsurprisingly, and I pulled it back to add another hole into the first had of the slime.

I quickly stepped out of the way of the dark projectile the god threw at me and decided to backpedal slightly as the ebonian god was right above me, ready to slam onto me.

'So they shoot now... These slimes just get better and better.' I mentally complained.

{They have to be strong to be considered gods.}

'Still wish they weren't so annoying.' I grumbled.

I quickly refocused on the gods after I finished complaining, dashing right back into the fray of the fight.

The process of me dodging, attacking, retreating to kill the spawned slimes, and returning continued for a while until I had brought the crimulan gods to extremely low health.

And then I dealt the final blow to one of them.

The first half of the crimulan god seemed to fall apart, while the second was soon to follow in its steps.

One attack later, and they were both dead.

At that point, I shifted my focus to the ebonian slime god,noticing a very annoying fact: It seemed to have gone berserk.

Due to my focus on the purple god, I failed to notice the small piece of the crimulan slime that remained, and I also missed the fact that it was slithering away.

I watched as it started to move at an increased pace, as well as shoot at me much more often.

'Oh great...' I thought.

I dashed towards the ebonian slime, not waiting it to approach me.

I used my flail to tear a hole in the slime god and rolled out of the way from a dark purple projectile in quick succession as soon as I got close enough.

I repeatedly dodged several shots of 'abyssal magic', only to be struck with one after I thought I had dodged every one.

as soon as It struck me I noticed two things. One, it hurt like hell, and two, it made me feel extremely weak.

I decided that I should avoid getting hit after the realization, as both the pain and weakness are something I want nothing of.

'Right. Slimeballs hurt like hell and come with a nasty side effect. I swear that this day just keeps getting better and better.' I noted annoyedly.

{You're lucky you didn't get hit by big red. Now that's a nasty side effect.} The Gods commented offhandedly.

My eyes glared at the air. 'And why would you know that?' I asked in an angry tone.

{We plead the fifth?} The Gods said unsurely.

'If you haven't noticed, we're not in the U.S. at the moment.' I thought.

{We're just going to stay quiet for now. No point in incriminating ourselves any further than this.}

'The right to remain silent also doesn't apply right now.'

{But the choice does, and we choose to stay silent.}

My glare at the air simply deepened at the statement.

'You are going to speak, whether you like it or not.' I declared.

The Gods didn't respond.

'Well I guess I'm killing a God with a capital G in the future.' I stated, finally getting a response from the Gods.

{Please don't.} They asked.

'No.' I responded.

{Please.} They asked once again.

'No.' I repeated.

{Pretty please with a cherry on top?} They asked as a final attempt.

'I don't like cherries, so still no.'

{Well, we tried.} The Gods conceded {Can we at least decide how we die?}

'Maybe.' I thought 'Though it depends on what your choice is.'

{We want it to be a public execution.} They said {That way you will become public enemy number one.}

'Request denied.'

{We tried our best. I guess its back to killing gods then?}

'Yep.' I thought, turning to face the stationary gelatinous god 'Though I have no idea why it hasn't attacked us yet.'

That thought seemed to activate the god though, as it immediately began moving towards me.

{Shouldn't have mentioned it. It would've made the fight unable to continue.}

'And in what universe-' I quickly ducked under a sphere of abyssal magic '-would that ever work?'

{This one.} The gods said. {If you haven't noticed, there are a few cliches from time to time. Well, we think there are, but there might not be any as well.}

'How can you be so unsure-' I dodged away from a body slam from the god '-about that?'

{We're us.}

'Huh.' was all I could say. 'That makes perfect sense.' I added afterward.

{We can see that you have quite the confidence in us.} The Gods commented sarcastically.

'Yeah, I'm about as confident in you as you are. It's not saying a lot.' I said, blatantly insulting the deities.

{We'll have you know that we are plenty confident in ourselves.} The Gods shot back.

'Say that to you from a minute ago.'

{No.} The Gods said. {Time travel is a hassle, as well as way too paradoxical for our liking.}

'I thought that you would love paradoxes since you love chaos so much.'

{We used to.} The Gods informed me. {But then we pissed off mean old Uni.}

I shuddered at the thought since the meteor event was still a scary event for me.

{You should also refocus on that remaining slime god of yours since we think it froze again.}

I turned to the slime god and quickly noted that it was indeed completely still once again.

"I both despise and love the logic of this universe." I said out loud.

And so I continued the fight against the ebonian slime god, dodging and attacking quickly for about twenty minutes.

After those twenty minutes ended, I had dealt with the ebonian god, leaving no more gods to kill.

Or so I thought.

CREATORS' THOUGHTS
Cold_Housefire Cold_Housefire

Now, this ending is pretty much just me being too lazy to write another 200 words describing the same two attacks from the ebonian god, since this fight has been going on long enough, and I need to do something about the actual slime god.

I hope you enjoyed today's chapter, especially since I haven't updated in so long.
