I looked at the Ebonian Slime god and quickly looked at the Crimulan as well.
I was stuck between two gigantic slimes, and I had no way to avoid fighting them.
What happened next was something I did not expect at all.
The slimes flew through the air at me.
'Why?' Was my only thought about the situation.
I quickly realized that the situation was going to be a colossal pain in the ass.
{Guess you could say that this is a sticky situation.} The Gods joked, only succeeding in making me annoyed.
"It is not the time for jokes right now, you imbeciles." I ground out.
{Huh, we didn't know you knew such complex words.}
I was unable to respond to the insult though, as I was preoccupied with the incoming threat.
The slimes were coming in fast, and I quickly moved out of my old position before I got turned into a pancake.
The slime gods impacted the ground a few seconds after I moved away from my past position, making the ground tremor under their weight.
'Note to self: Don't get squished.' I mentally noted.
I quickly turned around to face the two gods, fully prepared to attempt to defeat them.
'Alright, I only have to kill two gods. Not that hard, right?' I thought to myself.
{Yeah, the easiest thing in the world.} The Gods sarcastically said.
Ignoring the Gods, I began walking towards the slime gods.
Until I thought of a better idea after I took my second step.
'Distance is safer than close range.'
And so I pulled out the Bees' Knees and nocked the first arrow to be fired.
And I quickly let it loose towards the Ebonian slime.
The bees quickly impacted the slime... and proceeded to do absolutely no damage.
'Well there goes plan A. Plan B it is.'
And so I pulled out my light's bane as well as the sunfury.
I compared the damage of both items and decided that I was due for some new gear after this.
I dashed towards the two slimes, with one hand holding the relatively normal sized blade while the other held onto the handle of the flail.
'God this is weird...' I thought, unused to dual-wielding two completely different weapons.
The slime gods bounced towards me as well, causing minor tremors with every jump.
It only took a few seconds for me to reach the slimes, and I immediately slashed at the ebonian slime first.
I expected any amount of resistance from slashing through the slime, but I was not expecting it to feel like I was cutting through still water.
The slash passed through the slime easily, leaving a 'deep' cut that was visibly healing.
I ignored the quick regeneration in favor of using the sunfury to attack the crimulan slime, easily leaving a deep hole in the slime's body.
Too bad the hole was healing at an alarming rate.
Well, alarming if I was looking at it.
But I was too focused on something else entirely: The gods were making more of the corrupted slimes, and one of them was turning things crimson.
The revelation brought a whole new level of urgency to the situation since I had to deal with them before they make the area crimson enough to spread.
I quickly threw the sunfury at the several slimes I saw and watched them pop in minor satisfaction, before moving on to another slime.
I was doing all of this while dodging the attacks of the two fully regenerated gods.
The attacks were quite easy to deal with after I adapted to the tempo of the battle.
Dodge, attack, dodge, roll, dodge, dodge, attack, roll, attack.
It was chaotic to watch, but I was able to adapt to the situation quite quickly.
It only took me a few minutes to whittle the two gods down to lower health.
Which turned out to be a minor mistake in my books, as the slimes started casting magic at me.
You heard me. Magic. From slimes.
They began to shoot some sort of black spheres at me, making me have to dodge even more frequently than before.
'Gods this is troublesome.' I grumbled in my head, dodging yet another projectile fired at me.
I used my flail to counterattack the crimulan god and easily tore through the body of the red giant.
Too bad it always spawned several more of the normal crimulan slimes.
I quickly dispatched the weaker slimes, easily killing them with my flail.
I turned to the two gods, noting something rather annoying: They looked exactly the same as when the battle started. It made it seem like I had dealt no damage to them, even though I know I have hurt them quite a bit.
I watched as the gods did something I hadn't seen before: They started to send black orbs out of their body, simply letting them over in the air around them.
{You are really going for the protagonist feel, aren't you?} The Gods abruptly asked.
I was confused by the question, though, so I asked them a question instead of giving an answer.
'Why do you say that? I don't understand what you mean by a "Protagonist feel".'
{We have one question that will answer your question: What did you just do?} The Gods asked in return.
'Nothing.' I said, realization dawning on my face.
{That's right. You did nothing while the Slime gods set up their attacks.} The Gods said, pointing out exactly what it was I did to make it seem like I was some common protag.
'You know, that does make it seem like I'm just some common protagonist... But at least I know that I have the personality to make up for it.' I said in a slightly joking tone.
{Are you going to keep doing nothing?} The Gods reminded me.
'Nope!' I said in fake cheer.
And so I dashed towards the more important threat: The Crimulan Slime god.
I made use of the sunfury to dig another hole in it, but what happened next was something I didn't expect.
The slime god split into two smaller slime gods.
I stared at the two slightly smaller slimes.
'I really wish I did more of nothing.'
{At least you didn't double the ebonian god too.}
I could only agree with that.
So yeah, another part in the slime god arc down.
I hope you enjoyed!
