The first thing I pulled out was... A gun?
'What is this?'
It was in the shape of a gun, but it ended in a beehive. I examined it closer, looking at its information.
[Bee Gun
Magic damage: 9
No knockback
Mana cost: 5
4% critical chance
Very Fast use time
Velocity: 8
Shoots bees that will chase your enemy]
"Huh." I said, at a slight loss for words.
I looked at the gun, trying to understand how it shot bees, and the Gods decided to stop me there before I started to do something stupid.
{It's magic. Don't try to use logic for it. Ever.}
I looked at the stats once again, focusing on the mana cost.
"Alright then, let's test this out."
I held up the gun and pulled the trigger, expecting something interesting.
The weapon did not disappoint.
I felt a weird feeling, similar to something emptying out before I saw the gun start to shoot out bees from the beehive.
After a moment of firing, the bees stopped appearing, along with the feeling that I will regret if I try to fire any more. The feeling was ignored in favor of expressing surprise at the gun shooting bees.
"Oh it really does shoot bees!"
{Did you expect the description to lie to you?}
I glanced in a random direction.
"Maybe."
I could hear the Gods sigh.
{Why.}
"because what kind of gun shoots bees?"
{A Bee Gun.}
I lowered my head in defeat, acknowledging the truth in the Gods' words.
"Fair enough."
I reached into the bag once more, eager to see the next item I got.
I reached in and pulled out a... sword.
I looked at it, noting that the cross-guard was fashioned in the shape of a bee, with the body being the center and the quillons being shaped like the wings. The hilt was shaped like a more straight/rounded stinger that connected to a pommel that was the same color as the grip. The blade was the least detailed piece, but it completed the look with its obsidian hue. (I actually had to look up the parts of a sword to be more accurate.)
I finally inspected the stats of the blade.
[The Beekeeper
Melee damage: 24
Average knockback
4% critical chance
Fast use time
Summons killer bees after striking your foe
Small chance to cause confusion]
"Wow, this is actually a cool weapon!"
{We guess you could say it's the bees' knees.}
I could almost feel the stupid grin the gods were showing at their absolutely horrendous pun, so I ignored it in favor of testing the blade out.
I walked towards the forest, searching for a slime, easily finding one as soon as I entered the woods.
I pulled out the blade and swung at the weak creature, watching in surprise as the blade seemed to form bees around it, particles gathering around the edge of the blade.
I watched as the summoned bees flew towards the slime... And quickly got stuck inside of the gelatinous creature.
'I should've seen that coming... I mean, I literally used that tactic to deal with the bees too.'
{At least you know a weakness of the blade and gun.}
'I guess.'
I put the blade back into my inventory, its limit still undiscovered, and turned around to head back to my previous location.
I looked at the area and noted that I had no idea where I am.
I decided that walking back to my previous position from here was unnecessary, and reached into the bag once more.
This time I pulled out a... wand?
I held it in my hand and waved it around.
'What is this, a Cheerios commercial?'
I examined the wand, looking at its stats closely.
[Hive wand
Places hives]
I looked at the wand with a genuine deadpan stare.
"How informative." I said flatly.
{It explained everything it did. It places hives. That's it.}
"I had hoped for something cooler, I guess."
{That is an expected thing, as the last two items were very interesting.}
"And they still are."
I put away the 'boring' wand and reached into the bag once more.
I felt around for a moment before pulling an item out.
It was a bow...?
I held the weapon in my hand and examined it.
It was black and yellow, the same as every other weapon I had pulled out of the bag. The handle of the bow seemed to have been replaced with a large bee head, and the limbs of the bow were a simple yellow. The string was entirely black.
I stopped examining the outward appearance and began examining the status of the bow.
[The Bee's Knees
Ranged damage: 23
Very weak knockback
4% critical chance
Fast use time
Velocity: 8
Wooden arrows turn into a column of bees]
When I saw the name I immediately groaned in annoyance.
"This joke has come up three times already, and I'm getting real tired of it now."
{I guess you could say the pun is-}
"I swear to some other Gods if you say that joke one more time, I will somehow find you and kick all of your asses."
The gods did not respond.
"Good."
I refocused on the bow, whose name I shall not utter just to spite it.
I pulled out a wooden arrow and fired it, watching as the arrow quickly dissolved and reformed into a row of several bees.
"Okay, my first question: Why? Why would you make the arrows turn into bees?"
{Because why not?}
I couldn't argue with that logic, so I just moved on.
I reached into the bag, pulling out some miscellaneous items, and a few more interesting items, such as the Nectar, the Hive pack, a pair of goggles I have yet to inspect, a honeycomb, and a good amount of grenades.
The hive pack was the item that took most of my interest, as it had a useful effect.
[Hive Pack
Increases the strength of friendly bees]
I also found some interesting effects in the other items, such as the honeycomb.
[Honeycomb
Releases bees upon taking damage]
The Nectar was less than interesting to me, as it was simply a pet I could keep.
And so, I finally decided to look at the goggles, the item that seemed to be the least related thing to the queen bee.
[Honeyed Goggles
Summons a rideable Bee mount]
My eyes shone in excitement at the realization.
'I can finally stop riding that uncomfortable ass slime!' I mentally exclaimed.
I threw the goggles into the air, seeing if it was what I was supposed to do to summon the bee.
It was not.
Through several minutes of trial and error, I finally figured out that I just had to wave the large pair of goggles in the air to materialize the bee.
'Of all things, why waving it in the air?'
{We couldn't think of anything cooler.}
I looked at the large bee mount and watched as it held out one of its legs towards me.
"What?" I asked.
It gestured to the pair of goggles I was holding, making the motion of putting it on them.
"Oh." I replied, immediately understanding what they meant.
I walked towards the bee and placed the goggles upon their head, watching as the flying bug adjusted them.
I decided to hop onto the mount and test it out as soon as they finished their adjustments.
That moment was the exact moment I experienced true flight, even if for a fleeting moment.
It was also the moment that time paused.
Something had changed, but it would be a while before I noticed just what had changed.
Sorry for not uploading even an apology for no chapter yesterday, I was asleep until abt 2 am.
Anyways, this chapter was a challenge to focus on due to how I was making it. (The calamity OST is not helpful when writing something.)
I hope you enjoyed today's chapter!
