The whole mental block fiasco had left me knocked out for two consecutive days, and I was not going to miss a third.
I only had 4 days to prepare because of everything that has happened. I am going to have to work myself into overdrive so that I can get rid of this worm soon.
And so I began.
I immediately tried my best to focus on what to do, and my ideas were anything but good.
My brain gave me 3 choices:
1. Deal with the worm as soon as possible.
2. Wait for the entire time to pass and do nothing.
3. Give up and escape as far as possible.
{This isn't a choice. You can only choose option 1 if you want to have a slightly enjoyable time in this world.}
I sighed.
"I know, but I like to give myself the illusion of choice. It helps me rationalize what I have to do."
{So what are you going to do?}
"Take my time dealing with this threat. It won't break out anytime soon, so I have time to plan ahead."
I could hear the Gods sigh at my words.
{You're not going to plan anything, are you?}
"Not in the slightest. We both know that I am the worst at planning, so I feel that no plan is better than a bad plan. Spontaneous thinking is what I am good at, after all."
{We have watched you the entire time you have been here. You are definitely a spontaneous person.}
"You don't need to reiterate my words, you know. I know myself better than anyone."
{Look at the past few days, and tell me that you are speaking the truth.}
"Well I know myself better than most people, then."
{Now you are telling the truth.}
I sighed and looked towards the window of my room.
{You're going to make a bad decision. I can see how resigned you look.}
"Yup. The worst decision. I'm heading to the Corruption."
{Wow, that is a bad decision. You should probably prepare your stomach, though.}
"Well that's reassuring to hear."
{Just remember, don't punch the altars.}
"What altars?"
{You'll know it when you see it.}
And that was when I stepped out of my room for the first time in two days.
-10 minutes later-
I had been walking through the forest in a random direction for the past 8-9 minutes, and it led me to realize something.
'I have no idea where the f*** I am going.'
{Just go the opposite direction of where you are currently heading to find your destination.}
'Well that is helpful, but couldn't you have told me this 10 minutes ago?'
{Yes, but it would lower the amount of exercise you are getting today.}
'Do I look like I need exercise?'
{You should ask yourself that.}
'Then I do not.'
And so I used the magic mirror to send myself home, saving me 8-9 extra minutes of walking.
And so I began walking the opposite direction of where I went before.
-2 hours later-
I was getting bored of all the walking, and I was getting annoyed at how dull everything is.
And then I saw a purple horizon.
And I was finally going to be done with all the walking I had to do.
"F****** FINALLY!"
I had never been so glad to see something so disturbing.
And then I saw the inhabitants for the second time in my life.
They were as disgusting as you would expect.
Imagine a floating body covered in eyes, a mouth full of curved and barbed teeth, and dozens of waving tendrils of flesh floating off of the body. Now imagine if all of that looked like rotted leather. That was what those abominations looked like.
'Dear Gods that is disgusting.'
{It was a byproduct of one of our more major experiments.}
'The hell were you experimenting with to create THIS!?'
{That's classified.}
I could only sigh at the Gods' secrecy.
And that sigh alerted one of the abominations.
It floated over, wiggling its teeth and 'feelers' around while approaching me.
'I didn't think that it could get more disgusting, but it apparently can.'
I threw my spear at it, hoping to kill it. It hit it right in the center and tore through the entire body, but the creature kept approaching me.
'This just keeps getting worse, doesn't it?'
And so I kept throwing spears at it until it was in yellowish-green pieces scattered around the grass. Only then did it finally die off.
'This is going to be troublesome, isn't it?'
{More than troublesome.}
'Great.'
And so I went deeper into the corrupted lands.
It took me less than a minute to encounter another enemy, and this one was also disgusting, albeit not as much as the last.
I was looking at a worm tunneling through the ground. It still had the same rotted leather skin and yellowed teeth, but it only had 1 eye and no feelers.
'This is a great improvement from the last thing.'
And so I began my subjugation of the beast.
I immediately used my go-to weapon, the Dune Hopper, to gouge out holes in the body of the worm.
By the time it had reached me, it looked like a piece of swiss cheese.
I continued my assault on the beast and was rewarded with success after I threw my 15th spear.
The worm went underground, and the many holes in its body began to fill with dirt.
After several trips underground, the body tore apart, leaving it in pieces and shortened.
I decided that I should deal the killing blow soon, so I approached the worm and pulled out my other spear, the Urchin Spear, and stabbed at the falling creature.
one of the stingers pierced the eye, and it dropped dead instantly.
I watched as the creature dissolved into ash, and continued into the Corruption.
After several minutes, I finally came upon something interesting: A giant hole surrounded by purple rock.
'This is new. That usually means something.'
{Yup.}
'I'm going to have to jump down this, aren't I?'
{How else will you get down?}
'Safely.'
{Safety is a myth.}
'Fair enough.'
And so I jumped into the purple coated hole.
I have lost more control of the story once again, but I shall try to rein it in.
I had no ideas on what to do before the pre-hardmode corruption arc, so I just pushed it up the schedule.
I hope you enjoy this chapter as well!
