I looked at Amidias with a questioning gaze.
"Who?"
Amidias looked at me and began describing who she was.
"Not much is known about Calamitas, but she is someone who has an undying loyalty to Yharim. She is someone who can and will destroy a world if Yharim said to. If I can give you one piece of advice, I will say that you should avoid confronting her for as long as you can."
"Why shouldn't I just never encounter her?"
"Because it is impossible to not encounter her. If she takes an interest in you, she WILL find you."
"Great, the future has only become even more ominous."
I was not happy that I was going to encounter a world-ending monster in the future. I mean, who would be happy about that?
And then Jacob rejoined the conversation.
"I think we know who you are going to have to fight for your 'mission', Talon."
I could only say one thing:
"No."
Jacob looked me right in the eyes and responded with one word:
"Yes."
I was adamantly denying my inevitable goal.
"I am NOT fighting someone who can obliterate an entire ocean. And I will not accept any other answer."
Jacob just looked at me with some semblance of pity.
"You have no choice in this."
"I do."
The sea king rejoined the conversation he had been kicked out of.
"You have no choice in this matter. If the gods want something, they WILL get it. Sadly, those gods want you to defeat several world-ending enemies."
I replied instantly to his statement, but then a realization hit me before I could finish my first train of thought.
"Wait for a seco- SEVERAL!? Why are there several world-ending enemies? I thought that Calamitas was the world ending one?"
Amidias looked at me with pity, since he knew just how hard my future will be.
"You have several enemies that you will have to fight. Some I can name are: the Devourer Of Gods, His sentinels (Storm Weaver, Ceaseless Void, Signus), and the Jungle Dragon Yharon. Those are the ones I know are working for Yharim."
"All of them sound so much scarier than Calamitas. I don't like that one bit."
Amidias was still looking at me with pity since I was the person who would eventually attempt killing them.
"I can tell you a few things about them so that you may be prepared for your inevitable fights. The Devourer of Gods is a worm who had obtained its title through its accomplishments, which, as I assume you guessed, is devouring gods. Too bad nobody knows which gods they were.
His sentinels were 3 beings obtained from when began working under Yharim, and they have no known loyalty to any being other than the Devourer.
The first of the three is the Storm Weaver. It is believed to be the same race as the devourer, but it has not matured enough to have the same strength.
The second is the Ceaseless Void. The Void is believed to be the failed experiment of Calamitas and the Devourer. It is known to have no mind, but only the will to take the lifeforce of others.
The third and final one is Signus, The Envoy of the Devourer. He is known to have become a sentinel after his only failure as an assassin. He had failed to assassinate the jungle tyrant Yharim. He is still believed to be the Devourer's favorite means of killing due to his skill in stealth. The Devourer's favoritism is the exact reason that he obtained his title of 'Envoy'.
Do not confront them under any circumstances.
And finally, Yharon is a being you do not want to kill, lest you earn the ire of Yharim for killing his lifelong companion and pet. It is a monster with immense power; enough to have earned the right to stand beside Yharim. All I can say is that you should avoid fighting it, or you may die sooner than you'd expect.
Lucky for you, they seem to have disappeared from this plane for now. You will have time to grow before you will be forced into your struggle for existence."
-1 minute later-
I just sat there in shock at the information given to me. I could not get a grasp on how I was going to be able to defeat something with the ability to kill even gods, and I didn't even want to think about who it was serving under.
'Gods, why is it whenever I finally get to relax the world decides to make me feel even more pressured? I just want to enjoy life, not enjoy an eternal war.'
And then a 'voice' appeared in my head.
{Because you have limited time before the jungle tyrant returns.}
My eyes became wide and I could only shout one thing:
"What the F***?!"
Both Jacob and Amidias looked towards me in confusion.
Jacob decided to ask the first question:
"Why did you get so surprised?"
I responded with complete honesty.
"Because I accidentally asked the gods why the world is putting so much pressure on me. And they answered my question."
Now that I said that, Jacob seemed to realize why my reaction was so exaggerated.
Amidias was slightly more shocked though.
"The gods responded to your question?!"
"Yes, And they said that the jungle tyrant will return soon. But I do not know how soon that is, sadly."
Amidias looked at me with marginally less shock, but that shock was transformed into fear at my words soon after.
"This is bad. We don't know when the world will descend into hell, and even if we did, we are nowhere near prepared for it."
I only grimaced at the reminder of just how weak I am at the moment.
'I have to get stronger, and I have to do it fast. This world waits for no one, and I won't wait for the world any longer.'
That was the day I realized just how far I had to go to escape from this hellish planet.
This chapter took a lot more thinking than any other chapter I have made so far since I had no idea where I was going for the entire chapter (again), but I think it came out well in my opinion.
I hope you enjoyed it!
Sorry about posting this a little late.
