"I completely forgot!"
"Forgot what?"
I pulled the blue bag out of my inventory and looked at it. The gold crown on the bag seemed to be similar to the one worn on the Slime King, which seemed to mean something I do not know.
I showed it to Jacob.
"This!"
"Do you know what's inside?"
"No, but I am going to find out right now!"
Too impatient to put it off any longer, I opened the bag and looked inside.
I saw a black void.
And me, being at the height of impulsive thoughts, reached inside.
I grabbed one thing at random, which had happened to be...
A hook covered in slime.
I was neither surprised nor disappointed after looking at what it was.
[Slime Hook
Use: allows user to reach places farther away by pulling them towards the location via hook
Number of hooks: 3]
I decided to test the hook out later.
"That's a pretty good hook you got. Most of them only have one arm."
I decided to reach in once more and felt two more items inside the bag. I grabbed the first item and pulled out a...
"It's a machine?"
I looked at it to figure out what it was.
[Solidifier
Used to craft objects]
"Wait, if this came from the King Slime, does that mean I can make things out of gel?"
"I assume that is the most likely thing it can craft with."
"Cool."
I reached into the bag for the third and final item and pulled out a... saddle.
"Why the heck did a ninja have a saddle on them?"
"It might have been a memento of some sort. Maybe a reminder of his pet that died or something."
"What kind of pet would need a saddle this large?"
"A big pet?"
I decided to just place the saddle down without looking at it, which ended up surprising me when it 'activated'.
All I saw was some light particles gather around the saddle, and then there was a slime as tall as I was with the saddle on top of it.
All I could say was:
"Oh."
"I guess it is a pet."
"A big pet."
"Yes."
"Well, at least you get to ride a slime."
"Good to see that you are seeing the good side of this."
Jacob looked at me like I was crazy.
"Where is there a bad side?"
I then proceeded to look a Jacob like HE was crazy.
"First, it is a slime as tall as I am. How am I supposed to ride on it if I can't even get on top of it?"
I then proceeded to look Jacob in the eye and say this with full seriousness:
"Second, How am I supposed to get this slime out of my house? It is as tall as I am, and it is twice as wide as it is tall. I am stuck with a slime taking up the majority of my living room."
"Just take the saddle off, it might remove the slime."
"Oh, uh... That could work."
"I know, that's why I mentioned it."
I decided that now would be a good time to test out my new hook.
I threw my hook at the ceiling, which ended up with me being surprised since I was suddenly being dragged through the air.
"Woah!"
I was expecting for the hook to stick to the ceiling, but not expecting the hook to retract after attaching. I also noticed that the hook had returned to my hand even though it was still attached to the ceiling, which reminded me of what the description said.
[Number of hooks: 3]
I was excited to see what I could do with these hooks, but I decided that I should focus on getting rid of the giant slime in my living room.
Lucky for me, I made the ceiling 10 feet high. allowing me to drag myself over to the slime using the ceiling.
I decided to test how useful Jacob's advice is and attempted to grab the saddle that was sitting on top of the slime. It worked the exact way Jacob said it would since the slime just faded away after I removed the saddle. I finally remembered to look at it.
[Slimy Saddle
Summons a rideable slime mount]
I could only mumble a single sentence:
"So that's what it was."
I then spoke up louder.
"I did not expect that to work so well... Thanks for the idea."
"I'm a guide, advice is the only thing we have to give."
"Now that our accidental problem is dealt with, can we get back to the earlier topic?"
"What was the topic again?"
"My blatantly foreshadowing dream."
"Oh yeah, the way you described it did seem a little ominous."
"Well, the being did say that the gods have lost all control over our world, so I would say that it was a bit more than a 'little' ominous."
"That does not make the situation any better, so can you please explain more?"
"sure, I'm gonna abbreviate it a bit though."
"Just say it already."
I took a deep breath and began explaining what I had been told.
"So you're telling me that we have been invaded by interdimensional aliens who are possibly going to cause more problems for everyone?"
"Yes."
"Oh gods, I was sent here to help someone save the world, not the universe."
"Trust me, I don't want to do this either, but I have no choice in this matter."
"I believe that I know you quite well by now, and I know that you want nothing to do with this world."
"You have no idea how much I just want to go home and live a normal life right now."
"I would not because this is my normal life at the moment."
I could only respond with a tired smile.
"I would feel bad for you, but I would feel bad for me too since we are in the same boat. I can't even be sad about this, only because this is way too interesting to not enjoy slightly."
Jacob only responded with a flat tone of voice.
"Welcome to my world."
I could only look at him in surprise.
"What? I am trying to lighten the mood, and you don't even respond?"
"Sorry, just trying to process the joke you just made."
"I said it once before and you seemed to enjoy it, so I said it again."
"I just didn't expect you to be the joking type."
"I'm not, I only joke when a conversation gets too serious."
"I think that this is a bit too much to handle right now, so let's just put this off for a later date."
"I agree."
We both decided that this information is too much to accept in one day, and went to our rooms to contemplate what dangers the future holds.
If only we knew.
I hope that I did a good job adding a bit more dialogue to these chapters since I have been doing these conversations off the top of my head.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed the chapters so far!
