When I woke up, I immediately remembered what I had talked to Jacob about.
'I do not need to have an existential crisis this morning. I need to relax and focus on what I am going to do right now.'
And so I went outside and thought about things that would take my mind off of my newfound knowledge.
'Isn't Isaac homeless at the moment? Building a house seems like a great way to start my day!'
And so I got to work on building Isaac a new house to live in, while also testing out my nature wands.
I used the living wood staff to build the walls and roof, and added some more flair with the leaf wand. (Lining the edges with leaves, covering the roof, adding a 'front yard' which is just a field of leaves with a walkway to the front door)
I think I may have gone overkill on the decorations, since it looks more like a family cottage than a house... That just means that I get to upgrade mine too!
And so I began working on my house.
I kept the stone walls, but added leaves around them to make it look like they were overgrown with vines. I also replaced the roof with living wood, since the roof looked better that way... Well, in my opinion at least. I don't know how Jacob or Isaac felt about the new renovations.
'Note to self: ask Jacob about his opinion on my work.'
After renovating the outsides of the houses, I realized that I still had at least half the day to waste. Which led me to think about what I have been doing today.
'Is this what I should be spending my time on right now?'
I only had one answer to that question.
'Yes I do not have anything better to do, and I still need to find more things to do.'
So I wandered into the forest once more, since I never really searched for a dryad's home before.
The baby slime that was following me seemed to wander off at certain times, disappearing and reappearing a minute later. I never realized what it was doing until I wandered a little deeper into the forest.
All I saw was gel. No slimes, just the gel that you get from killing them. When I looked at the suspected culprit, it was just looking at me like it expected some praise.
"Uh... Good job?"
I have never seen a slime so happy to get a compliment. It was practically vibrating in place when I said it did well. I was unsure whether it was a good idea to compliment it, since it seemed almost too happy when we started walking towards the pile of gel.
I decided that it was a good idea, since the adorable creature was acting like a child on Christmas day.
After I collected the pile of gel that my pet(?) slime left me, I continued on my trek to find the dryad's tree.
It only took me about an hour to find the 'house' since the giant trees are one of the most conspicuous things in this forest. I definitely didn't pick the wrong tree several times before, though.
I entered the tree once again, and descended until I reached the room I had seen before.
I looked around until I saw something that I had completely ignored yesterday: The 'loom' sitting in the corner of the room.
I decided to look at it after less than a second of deliberation, since I felt that I could not be more bored at the moment.
[Living Loom
Used for special crafting]
'I guess that's what it's used for, huh.'
Just based off of what this room is made of, and the contents of said room, I could easily guess what it crafted.
I just didn't know what it used for materials, so I used the first thing that would make sense: Wood.
It worked very well. A little too well, since I could see everything that I could craft with the wood while using this loom. The things I could craft were just what I needed, since I definitely wanted a bed to sleep in.
I decided that it wouldn't be getting much use here, so I took it back home via magic mirror.
With that little trip over with, I still had a lot of time left in the day.
'What do I do now... I really can't think of anything unique to do, so I'll just go with a stereotypical relaxation activity: Fishing.
As I decided to go fishing, I realized one small detail: I have nothing to fish with.
I decided to ask Jacob where I could get a fishing rod, or even if I could make my own, to which he replied:
"You won't find a fishing rod just lying about, but you will be able to craft one. All it takes is a it of wood or iron, depending on the strength of the rod you want to use. In my opinion, You should use an iron one, since it will be able to catch better fish with it. Don't forget to get bait for the rod though."
"Where do I get bait?"
"you catch it of course. I recommend finding butterflies, since they aer some of the best bait you can use right now."
"Alright then."
I decided to ask Isaac if he knew how to catch some bait.
"You wanna go fishing, huh? If you need bait, I recommend this state of the art bug catching net, since it will allow you to catch bait with just a swing through the air. Only 50 silver coins, and you'll have a good bait catcher."
The moment he finished is sales pitch, I pulled out 50 silver coins and yelled one short sentence.
"I'll take it!"
"Great!"
Isaac just smiled at me and took the money. Then he reached into his pocket and did something I thought to be weird, even in this world.
He pulled a large bug net out o one of his pockets.
"How did you do that?"
"Do what?"
"Pull that net out of your pocket."
"Oh. You do know that you can access you inventory from any position right?"
"Yeah."
"Well, I just used my pocket to access my inventory, leading to that neat trick."
"That's pretty cool!"
"I agree with you, since that's why I do it."
"Well, I'm off to go fishing! Bye!"
"See ya."
And so I headed off to my house so that I could craft myself a fishing rod to use.
I crafted the iron fishing rod, since Jacob said it was better.
[Reinforced Fishing Pole
Fishing power: 15%]
'That does not look like a powerful fishing pole... Oh well.'
I just dismissed my pessimistic views on the usefulness of the pole, focusing on the next step: finding bait.
It was quite easy, since there were butterflies flying everywhere for whatever reason.
I caught a few of the light orange butterflies, and ended up with some rather good bait to use.
[Julia Butterfly
25% bait power]
I think that the rods are just weak in general, since they are only as good as the bait used for them.
With all the materials required gathered, I set out for the nearest lake to go fishing.
I began fishing, which seemed rather boring to start, but when I caught my first fish, a bass, I finally realized that the waiting is slightly fun due to the anticipation of seeing your next catch.
But my next catch surprised me, since it was not a fish at all.
I caught a crate, or a wooden one to be exact.
I decided that opening it was my best bet, since I was very curious about what was inside the crate.
I opened it and found...
[1 set of [Climbing Claws]
2 gold bars
6 gold ore
1 gills potion]
After looking at the contents, I decided to see what the climbing claws were used for, and I was surprised to see what it was for.
[Climbing Claws
Use: able to slide down walls]
I could only imagine how cool it would look if I slid down a wall in the middle of a battle, kind of like a ninja trying to escape down a cliff.
I immediately put them on, since I thought that they would be useful. (and they looked cool)
After opening the crate and putting on the claws though, the sun decided that today was finally over. I had achieved what I wanted to do today, which was to relax.
The day had been uneventful, and I was happy for that.
This will be the only chapter for today, since I DM for my D&D group on fridays.
This chapter is a transition to our first event of the journey, since I don't want to jump from fight to fight one after another. We need a break once in a while.
I just realized how ling this chapter is compared to the others...
