Chapter 11: Entering the City (Part 3): The Assassination

"Long Dao. Why are you here?" I asked angrily.

Under the mask, Long Dao didn't say a word. She just stared at me signing to be quiet, but I didn't want to.

"General. Are you here to buy slaves?" I asked more directly this time. The image of her as a hero in me had crashed.

"None of your business. Get out of my way," she finally spoke and pushed me. I fell to the ground after the push. "Let's go," she told the slave, and they both started to walk away.

"Wait. What are you going to do with her?" I asked while getting up.

Long Dao, still walking, turned back and gave me shivers with her look. "Again, none of your business," and they left.

I wanted to follow them, so I secretly walked behind, far enough that it wouldn't be obvious. Long Dao walked the slave out of the festival and stopped when she didn't see anyone, but she didn't see me though.

"You can go now," Long Dao opened the cuff and leash.

The slave was shocked that she froze for a moment. Once she realized what just happened, she quickly knelt down with her head on the ground, "Thank you so much for sparing me! I don't know how to repay you!"

"You don't need to repay me anything," Long Dao finally softened her voice and lowered herself to help the maid stand up. But then I saw something. A reflection. When I looked at what it might be, I saw a KNIFE in the slave hand!

"ACTIVATE!"

[Wisdom of the Senses activated. Start counting down]

The maid raised her hand to reach for Long Dao. She still didn't know what was going on.

Now that my senses had enhanced, I could see their movement more clearly. I picked up a big rock below me and threw it at the maid. Comboing with the eyesight, the feeling enhancement helped me control my muscles better. With that, the rock flew straight to the slave's hand and knocked the knife out of her.

Right then, Long Dao saw the knife that was just hit the ground. She quickly pushed the slave away, like how she did to me, and took control of the knife.

"Who are you? Who sent you here?" her voice tone became cold again.

The maid's face got angry. Instead of answering, she jumped up and flew away like how you see in those Asian martial arts movies.

"Hey! Do you get hurt somewhere?" I ran to Long Dao.

"Why are you here? Didn't I tell you to not mind my business?" she angrily replied.

"If I wasn't here you would be dead," I got to where she was standing and stopped.

"I can defend myself. Your presence is unnecessary," Long Dao said and was walking to cut me off. But I didn't let that happen.

"Oh really? You put down your guards so much that you were even smiling back then," I teased her, imagining if she would feel embarrassed about it or not.

"Why are you following me? Go elsewhere," she avoided me.

"You don't own this road. I just happen to walk this way as well," I said.

"Why are you talk to me so freely? I am your general," Long Dao stopped and stared at me, but I won't lose to that.

"You are my superior when we are in battles with the troop. At this moment though, we are just two people walking," I answered. Long Dao didn't respond to anything and just kept walking. The road was dark at night but thanks to that, I can see the beautiful stars up in the sky. I never thought that nature could be this beautiful. But then a sudden roar from my stomach cut off the emotional scene.

"Hey, general," I called Long Dao.

"What?" she replied shortly.

"You want to come back to the festival with me?" I asked.

"Go yourself" She avoided me again.

"I am hungry and don't have any money," I exposed my intention.

"Why would I buy you food?" Long Dao looked at me with those eyes again.

"It's not like I am trying to take advantage of you or anything," even though I did. "It's just that since I got here, I don't have any money."

Long Dao looked at me with suspicious eyes, "I still don't believe that you came here from another world or whatever you told me back then."

"What I said was all true. I don't know what more is needed to convince you," I told her.

She still looked at me suspiciously. But after a moment of thinking, she gave me some coins like giving to a beggar "Whatever. Just get out of here."

"No. I want us to go together," I refused her offer even though I wanted those coins really badly.

"Why?" she asked.

"I want to talk with you about something," I said.

"Then ask me here."

"I don't want to. Just go with me." I went behind her and pushed her forward.

"Hey! What are you doing?" She sounded surprised and annoyed at being pushed.

"Don't refuse me. Let's have some fun first. You look like you didn't enjoy the festival anyway." And head we went back to the festival again.

I will end this diary here even though the day hasn't ended. I am doing this because this day was really long. There will be more things going to happen even though it was nighttime already so I guess I will name this 5.1 and the next one 5.2. That way, you would know that both of these happened on the same day. I think that will make it less confusing.

Alright, see you in the next diary.
