Chapter 42: Ch.41: Accident
Sam
I've long finished my pot pie and fruits. Now comfortable enough I actually sleep.
I'm falling… but fear doesn't hold me. I'm waiting patiently for something. Someone maybe? I find the answer when a pair of muscular arms encircle me at the waist, I'm no longer falling. But instead of screaming…
I'm laughing.
"Sam! Can you hear me?..."
Oh just another dream, it just weird how sudden the change was, oh well… let the dream commence.
"Sam! I'm here! Wake up!"
Wait, what? Who's here?
"It's Emberlynn, Sam. Please wake up!"
I jolt awake, breathing heavy. My mind frantically trying to remember where it's at. Oh yeah… the cave.
"Sam!"
I jump again at the suddenness of Em's voice, relief flooding through me, I haven't seen her I don't know long and last time I saw her she and I were seriously wounded.
"Emberlynn! Oh my gosh! Are you okay? Where are you? What's wrong?" Immediately assuming something is wrong, because from MY experience, everything has gone wrong so far, well except Lyra. She's awesome!
"I'm fine, but where are you? Can you get out?" I shake my head, looking at my surroundings.
"No, After I destroyed the arena, I was found guilty of putting everyone in danger, so they put me in this cave cell. They wont let me out. Only Lyra and Kai can see me. Kai saw me a few hours ago, give or take. It's hard to keep track of time in here. How long have I been in here exactly?" I get sidetracked and start to say my thoughts, missing having a conversation with Em.
"Focus, Sam. To answer your question, it's been at least three days, I've been healing myself. This is my first time out. Kai visited you? Has he told you anything?..." She trails off, sounding awkward. I get confused, said anything?
"Umm… Not that I know of?..." I scrunch my eyebrows confused to the random question.
Her presence seems to relax a tad but not enough to even be considered "relaxed".
"Why do you ask?" I mutter. But her chatter overlaps my questions;
" Alright, well we just need to figure out how to get you out of there.. maybe I'll speak to the king, maybe I can convince-"
"Why do you ask, Emberlynn??" I interrupt her. I feel her sigh, knowing she's been defeated and she can't hold back the truth she's been hiding.
"Because you and Kai are Fated.."
