Chapter 29: Ch.29: Ignited

 Sam

  The flight took a few hours, I dozed off and on, I was just tired and the journey is being mean to me. Em woke me up when she said we've arrived, the sun was setting, entering twilight. I was disoriented 'cause of my new surroundings, We're on a cliff overstretching… well, it was too foggy to tell. I had a feeling we're really high up because I could feel that the air was thin, I'd expect myself to practically faint around two minutes being up here but I wasn't bothered, was this another thing that has to do with our bond? I'm guessing so.

    While I'm looking around in a daze, I feel Em stop stiff, I look around her thick neck and stare at what was peeking through the fog, the rock with her family name. I slide off her back, legs aching. I start looking around everything was filled with a presence, I notice Em looking at me, ignoring the feeling, and a thought comes from her, not in her voice though;

She knows where we are, she knows what to do…

Suddenly I'm filled with images of me making the fire, my body heat grows with the heat of that ignited flame, especially where my mark is, which is right underneath the left side of my collarbone. I look at Em, and point to the markings, on the rock in front of us,

"Em… " I say out loud, my voice feeling and sounding scratchy. I think I'm getting too used to this telepathy thing. I sound like a squealing pig for goodness sake! I'm hoping that Em will understand what I was going to say, she does, she widens her stance towards the stones. I've never seen her breathe fire before, but she's never had to use it. I back up, making sure I'm out of her shot, is there certain things you need to acquire to breathe fire? Do I breathe fire? HA! As if! I don't have the skills to go down a flight of stairs without tripping over myself! I could tell the sun was still setting by how bright it was now still with the dense fog. My nerves fired up and I felt the intense heat of Em's fire. I blink in surprise, Em's fire… it's violet, more of really dark violet. Goosebumps rose on my arms as she suppressed her dragon heart, as quickly as it came. Feeling as though I expected it. The etching begins to glow in a bright white, it seems as if it's pulsing. My gut unknots itself, which tells me that we've completed what we need to do. Am I the only one who feels this?

I can feel it too. It's all around us, I do not know what has been done but it is done. I trust you. But now we wait to see what happens. She lies down where she stood and looks at me, my mark tingling, I walk to her. And plop down on the thin grass, leaning against her shoulder. My mark, tingling.

Em… I'm scared.  My mouth says uncontrollably, It's barely a whisper, my eyelids drooping slowly. Why am I so tired if I slept the entire way here??

It's alright, you're scared because this is all new to us, we're both apprehensive. But what matters is we're together… She stops maybe she's thinking of what to say. Then she says softly,

Did you know that you will….? Her words fade away, as pleasant dreams envelop me.
