Chapter 16: To tell me your

'Huh, where's Asuna?'

Alex looked around to see no one was in the hall.

'I'm late!'

He took off.

Hikaru's class was on the ground floor while Alex was on second.

--No wonder he kept me for so long. He knew he couldn't be late, but I could.

Alex made it to the class, which had begun. He tried to sneak in but heard a sudden, loud fake cough.

'I'm late, and it's his period.'

'Alexander, you're late, aren't you? Such tardiness is not acceptable at all.'

By his, he meant Professor Hibiki. Prof. Hibiki was very famous in school, notorious would be a better word.

'Sorry, sir. It won't happen again.'

'Yes, I will make sure it won't happen again. That's why I have to punish you.'

Alex knew where this was going.

'However, as I am kind, I will let you go if you can answer my question. If not, severe punishment awaits you, young man.'

Prof. Hibiki was living up to his reputation. The man simply loved humiliating students. He had the habit of not only punishing someone but also completely humiliate him first.

No one could answer his questions. Alex was thinking about the same thing.

He knew the question was a greater punishment than the punishment itself, and he could not avoid it. With a gloomy face, he took a deep breath.

'What do I have to do, sir?'

'It's simple. If you can translate this sentence, you're free to go.'

'Translation? Isn't this computer's class?'

With a cruel smile, Prof. Hibiki replied.

'Yes, you just have to translate this.'

He wrote on the board.

0101100101101111011101010010000001100001011100100110010100100000011100110111010001110101011100000110100101100100

'That's computer language.'

Alex protested.

'Exactly. Befitting a computer's class. Now translate it.'

This was Prof. Hibiki's new way of humiliating students, and Alex was the first victim.

'How can I?'

Alex blankly looked at the board.

'You can't, how stupid can you be? Here, I will even show you the binary code for each letter for about 30 sec. That should make it easy enough for you.'

Prof. Hibiki waved a paper in front of Alex's face. Alex stared at the page, but couldn't make sense of anything.

'Time's up, now translate this.'

--Good luck, kid. It took me three whole years to able to read and write like this. There's no way you can do it in 30 sec.

He gently smiled.

Alex hopelessly took the marker and went to write on the board. No student tried to interfere, afraid of meeting the same fate.

Looking at the binary code, Alex had no idea what it said, but suddenly, something inside him clicked.

'Oh, it reads "I LIKE BOOBS."'

Silence dominated the room.

'Teacher, you are terrible.'

A female voice was heard from the back.

'Wh-what…no it doe-doesn't say that. It says um… "NICE TO MEET YOU," but since you tried, I will let you go just this once, go to your seat, Alexander.'

It's like somebody just punched Prof. Hibiki in the stomach.

'No, it doesn't."NICE TO MEET YOU" is written like that.'

Alex wrote on the board. Alex wrote on the board without a pause.

010001100110111101110010001000000111011101100001011100110111010001101001011011100110011100100000011110010110111101110101011100100010000001110100011010010110110101100101

Hibiki knew he was right.

The thought of him actually translating the sentence never crossed his mind. That was why he carelessly wrote that.

'Now, Alexander, go to your seat and let me erase this.'

'Why don't you admit that you wrote "I LIKE BOOBS," it's not that big of a deal.'

Alex knew he shouldn't have said that, but couldn't stop himself. An impulse of mischief rose within him. He wasn't about to let this chance go and began pressuring the Professor.

'Just admit it, there is nothing wrong with that.'

'Sh-shut up! How can you accuse me of such a shameless act?

Prof. Hibiki was panicking. He could hear his heart beating loudly. Sweat started to appear on his face.

--What do I do? What should I say? Damn it! Why Him? Why today?

These thoughts were racing in his mind. He was even regretting his choice of becoming a teacher.

It is natural for human beings to have their brains stop working when they panic. Logic and reasoning stop. When this happens, primitive instincts take over. To put it in a nutshell, they go on the offensive, and that never ends well.

'I see now. I understand what you are trying to do perfectly.'

--Oh no.

Alex had set off a bomb.

'So, you're saying that I am wrong and You are right. That means you must be smarter than me, is that right?'

'I never said-'

'That's right, you think you are smarter than me, don't you?'

Prof. Hibiki was amplifying the situation many times more than it was. He had lost it.

The entire class was watching the man fell apart over this.

The lesson to be learned here is to never write "I LIKE BOOBS" even as a joke. You may end up like Prof. Hibiki.
