Chapter 38: Chapter 38: Short Farewell
Woke up, feeling a cold sweat on my back. It's been a while since I last dreamt about that incident. That night. I rub my heavy eyes, looking around for a bit. Seems I woke up too early. I look next to me and see Killua sleeping. I quietly get up and exit the room. I walk around for a bit, the sun is about to come up. I enter the dining hall and grab a cup. I poor water in it and drink.
Placing the cup back down, I exit the dining hall. I look around for a bit then think about checking up on Gon. I walk towards the area Mr. Raccoon showed us. Opening the door, I see Gon sleeping on the floor. He has a bump on his head. I look at the wall and see an indent. Possibly from Gon slamming onto it. I pull out my notebook and pencil, I start writing. Good, I don't feel tired anymore. After what seemed like forever, I hear an announcement.
"We have arrived to the 3rd phase."
While I was listening, I hear Gon wake up suddenly. It startled me, I only remember hearing for us to get our stuff and see them off board.
Gon: "Morning, looks like we've arrived huh? Let's get going."
I nod. We exit the room. After getting off the airship, I run to the ledge and throw up. I see a surface that is flat and round. Gon and I meet up with Killua, Leorio, and Kurapika. Beans speaks.
"Everyone, the exams 3rd phase will begin here. At the top of trick tower. To pass this phase, you must reach the bottom alive. The time limit is 72 hours. With that, we will now begin the 3rd phase. I will pray for your success."
Why do I feel like someone is watching us? Beans leaves. He tells us good luck. Now how do we get down? Gon looks down, we're way high up.
Leorio: "Are we supposed to climb down?"
Kurapika: "That would be suicide…"
"Hmm… maybe for a normal person. But a top class rock-climber can handle this no problem."
A person climbs down. Is he crazy?
Killua: "Whoa."
Gon: "He's climbing down real fast."
As he climbs down, suddenly, I hear the sounds of wings flapping. Weird, huge, and red…um…babies? Fly and surround the man. Seems climbing down is a no-no. They pick up the man and take him away.
Leorio: "Guess we can't climb down this side…"
Kurapika: "Yeah…"
Esther: "Maybe there's something with the ground? Let's look around for a bit."
Gon: "Good idea."
We poke around the ground, hoping to find a secret passage or something. As we do, I notice fewer and fewer people here. Did they find it?
Gon: "Kurapika! Leorio! Esther!"
Kurapika: "What is it, Gon?"
Gon: "Look, I found a hidden door."
Kurapika: "I see. So we can descend by flipping the stones."
Leorio: "Ok, great job Gon! Let's head down."
Gon: "But I'm confused. There are also hidden doors over here, there, over there, and there as well."
Esther: "Maybe only one person can enter it? Must be why there is so many. Or maybe there are a few that are traps."
Killua: "From what Gon and I saw, only one can enter it. Let's each choose a door and hope it isn't a trap. Seems like we're splitting up here."
Esther: "Alright then, everyone, pick a door. No hard feelings if you get a trap."
After we each chose a door, we say our farewells. Hopefully we can meet up again soon. We jump onto the door, it flips. We fall in. After landing, I look around and see…hey, we're all still here together.
Esther: "Well that was a short farewell."
