Chapter 400: In Which He Couldn't Fight

Williamsburg, Brooklyn N.Y.

It was one in the morning when Gael drove J home to his apartment building. He pulled to the side, turned off the engine, and then opened his door when J placed a hand at his chest to stop him.

"Woah, woah… I'm no longer a child, and I'm not your woman. You don't have to walk me up." J grinned, wanting to make his comment light. When Gael didn't move, he added, "Boss, stop worrying. I'm a grown man. Aren't you embarrassed that you're babying me?"

Gael narrowed his eyes at the other as he released the door handle. "Stop joking around, Jino. This is serious. You may not be seventeen anymore, but that doesn't mean I don't care about what happens to you. I gave you my word that I will take care of you and your sister."

400 chapters :) Thank you for the continued support! I appreciate all my kind readers.

A little rant on behalf of the authors in webnovel who feel the same: I will not apologize for the pace of my story :) This is how I want to write this webnovel. ;) Telling me to write faster and update more frequently won't make me write faster. Writing every single day is hard. I'm not a machine. Writing all day will burn me out and would drive me crazy which would result in crappy chapters and crappy novels. Remember in school where the teacher asks you to write essays or any school papers? Which could be anywhere from 1k words or more. And that's at least a few days or a couple of weeks before the deadline. Authors in webnovel write at least a thousand words DAILY PER CHAPTER and most update ALMOST DAILY. I write between 1.2k-1.6k most of the time. Think about that for a second before demanding. There are ways to ask nicely. Be kind to the authors. We're working very hard on top of real-life shÎt. The least you could do is say thank you. :)

P.S. This novel is mostly character-driven instead of plot-driven. Meaning, I'm practicing focusing more on their internal struggle, thoughts, feelings, and resolutions. Events don't just happen to them. Characters would actively change because of the events they face.
