Chapter 5: Playing Against Bots Suck

{The Next Morning...}

Fumio was standing in a grassy area, which could be considered larger than an open space, but it was better to be safe than sorry.

He took a deep breath before activating the "Progressive Training Mode," with an excited smile on his face.

A screen, straight out of System Novels, popped up in front of Fumio.

[Progressive Taijutsu Training: Phase One]

[1. Pick a Primary Aspect to Focus on] Agility or Strength

[Tip: Choose wisely. You will not be able to change your Answer.]

His face turned serious as he sat down and started thinking about which aspect he would choose.

If he was living in his past life, he would've gone with Strength, but in a world with Chakra and Ninjutsu, Agility was the obvious answer.

And so, Fumio picked Agility.

[Progressive Combat Training (Agility) - Unlocked!]

[Description: Without an agile Mind and Body, a Skilled Fighter is Nothing. Take Advantage of the Progressive Combat Training to become Something.]

"This is all so cool!" Fumio released his emotions after he read the description, imagining the ultra-quick battles he would fight that would be just like the large-scaled fights in One Punch Man.

[Would you like to start with Progressive Combat Training? (Recommended)] Y/N

Fumio accepted its recommendation and stood up, filled to the brim with energy, and feeling ready for almost anything.

As soon as he pressed the "Y," that was on the screen, a perfect replica of himself appeared in front of him.

'Clone Technique?' Fumio thought as he slowly approached the clone, who was also the same height as him and was wearing the same clothing.

He hasn't seen himself in the mirror much and decided to take this time to inspect his new appearance.

Fumio had short dark grey-colored hair that matched his light-grey eyes, very-light skin, that was on an immature, baby-face.

He laughed, 'Do I gotta beat myself up?'

[Correct]

[Is Host Ready?] Y/N

It only took him a few seconds to recover, since this was expected of a legendary System.

"Hm..." Fumio said as he tried pushing the clone, but was surprised to see the clone grab his wrist.

Fumio pulled his hand, and eventually, the clone let go of his wrist.

"Freaky..."

After a few minutes of investigating the clone, Fumio furrowed his eyebrows and tightened his fists before saying in his head, 'I'm ready.'

However, instead of putting him straight into the fight, as he had expected, it gave him an option to choose his opponent's difficulty.

[Set Opponent's Difficulty] Bot (Strongly Recommended), Easy, Medium, Hard, Smart.

'Why even give me a choice?' He thought as he pressed the Bot Difficulty on the screen.

The screen disappeared, and all that was left was Fumio, the clone, and the slightly strong winds that moved their clothes and hair. Don't forget the grassy ground, it deserves some recognition as well.

Fumio decided to do what all protagonists do at the start of fights, by watching his opponent and waiting for the clone to do something.

Responding to this, the clone changed from defensive to the offensive as he sprinted towards Fumio.

This caused his heart rate to rise, but he remained motionless.

Once the clone got close enough, Fumio gave his best attempt of performing a sidekick and, fortunately, was able to land his kick on the side of the clone's head.

He felt pain from his feet, but he knew that the clone must've been feeling more pain, before looking back up and seeing the clone's emotionless, yet bruised face.

This felt just like playing against a computer, in chess, that was set to its lowest difficulty.

He knew that the computer was purposefully making mistakes to go easy on him, and he really didn't like that.

He wanted to improve so he could be someone important in this world and not just die when a big event occurs...

Fumio ran towards the clone, and this time, he executed a barrage of blind punches, which the clone had a hard time blocking all of.

Hell, the only thing the clone did on the defensive was block. It didn't even attempt to stop Fumio.

In only a minute, the clone failed to block a punch that traveled straight towards its chin, rendering it useless against the following punches.

[Host doesn't seem to be using Taekwondo. However, it is not a problem since Host will still benefit from the training.]

[Want to rematch? (Recommended)] Y/N

Fumio was breathing heavily and was slightly surprised when he noticed the pain and injuries on his knuckles heal, but he was feeling more conflicted.

Fumio pressed, "No," and found himself back in the Difficulty screen.

With some hesitation, Fumio selected the highest difficulty, Smart Difficulty...
