Chapter 8: The Crystal Heist!
'But where do I go….' Micheal was in the main hall, with Dante still causing a scene with some guards. 'I don't know the layout of this palace! Alright think… Nova must have a reason to cause this incident! This place… we are here for a mission regarding the ancient demon lord. Anything regarding such an important figure must be deeper in the palace!' With that thought, Micheal started running deeper into the palace. He yelled out, "Guards, Nova the elf is causing an incident! We must stop him!" Unfortunately, the guards behind him had their hands full with Dante, so only one left the scene to deliver the message.
Some guards deeper in the palace had heard him, and started to come over to interrogate Micheal. Suddenly, "AAHHHHHH!", a ghastly scream was heard coming from behind the guards. Everyone changed directions, and ran towards the location of the scream. Barging into the room, everyone was shocked!
With a dazed look in her eyes, Julia stood there, holding a bloody pole-arm. On the floor was a decapitated guard. Screams and shouts of shock were heard. "How could this be!", "I thought she was a hero!", and "Murder!"
Micheal stood there, shocked! He had just talked a bit with that girl, and she didn't seem like the type of person to do that, at all! Suddenly, Micheal's attention was brought towards her eyes… 'they seem… dazed… these symptoms seem familiar! I surely read about similar powers to this at the library! The steps associated with this are at the tip of my tongue, but what? I'll just brute force it! Since step names are associated with their powers, I'll just think of all the ones I read! Siphoner? Siphon away her reasoning? No… perhaps the powers of a…damn! I'm just wasting time! I need to get her out of this trance!'
As the guards came out of their shock, they all looked at Julia with a murderous look in their eyes. Some just charged wielding melee weapons, while others took a variety of strange actions. Some began chanting, while others took out strange L-Shaped items. With the L-shape item pointed at Julia, a loud "BANG!" came out.
"Ahhh!" This sudden noise brought Micheal back into reality, as he screamed, "JULIA! SNAP OUT OF IT! YOUR BEING CONTROLLED! YOUR BEING…" As Micheal thought back to the hypnotic potion used on Dante, he shouted, "YOUR BEING HYPNOTIZED!"
Meanwhile, deeper in the Palace, Nova ran with confidence and certainty. He moved at a speed that seemed impossible for mere mortals to achieve. His body was covered by some sort of wind that came from a ring on his finger. As he ran, he approached a section of wall in a deserted area of the halls. With a quick motion, he pulled out a pill, scroll, and match. Swallowing the pill and setting the scroll on fire, he suddenly appeared at the other side!
The room was dark, and had no visible entrance. At the center of the room, was a blueish-purple glowing crystal which radiated a strong, but unstable, almost insane power. Plenty of runes and sigils were imprinted on the crystal, which suppressed the power coming from inside through a variety of means. Large chains made from an unknown metal wrapped around the crystal. A few older men sat around, which were quickly alerted by Nova's presence.
In the blink of an eye, they sprung to action, some disappearing, some suddenly manipulating large amounts of elements which just came into existence, and others yet doing other incomprehensible actions.
A wave of fear came over Nova, but he stood still, sweat drops falling from his face. Suddenly, a man appeared from the shadows, with a dagger pointed at Nova's neck. His eyes suddenly lost their radiance, as he rushed towards a man who was originally charging at Nova.
"HYPNOTISM! GUARD YOUR MINDS!", yelled a man near the back, as he took out some sort of miniature horn. "ON IT!" Another yelled as he stood still and radiated a bright, holy light which brought clarity to everyone's minds.
Everyone then stared back at Nova, ready to attack, but their vision suddenly went dark as they fell to the floor. "You think I didn't come prepared…" Nova sneered as he walked forward. Approaching the crystal, he took out an envelope. Opening it, he took out an item with an incomprehensible form. Its form seemed impossible to remember, and a single glance would make a regular human's head hurt! Throwing it upon the crystal, the chains retracted, and the crystal shrunk to pocket size. The aura radiating from the crystal seemed to stop as well.
"Finally…" Nova sighed. "But I still have to bring it back."
....
Nearby, Micheal was running around aimlessly to any places he deemed to look important, and that he believed the elf would go into. 'Damn it! I totally lost Nova! Not the mention… Why are there no guards! I've been screaming out for help!'
Micheal found himself in a deserted hallway, exhausted. 'Why… what happened! Why can't I find traces of Nova!' Suddenly, Nova's dazed figure appeared out of nowhere, near a wall.
Upon this sight, Micheal was filled with rage and anger! 'I looked so hard for him, and now that I stop, he appears in front of me!? YOU FUCKING SUPERVILLIAN!'
As Nova reoriented himself, an approaching foot came into sight and knocked Nova down!
"YOU MOTHERFUCKER! YOU STUPID ASS MOTHERFUCKER!" Micheal stomped on Nova's fallen body in an intense rage. "TELL ME! WHY DO YOU APPEAR IN FRONT OF ME NOW! WHY DO YOU DO THE THINGS YOU DO! IT'S PEOPLE LIKE YOU! JULIA IS FUCKING DEAD NOW!"
If he had his spear with him, Micheal would have directly committed the great crime of murder right then and there. Reaching down, Micheal stared into Nova's eyes as he angrily grabbed Nova's throat, but his thoughts suddenly grew dull. 'This… Hypnotism? Must…. Keep… strong… will…. I can't! Then… kill....Nova....'
With this, Micheal collapsed onto the floor.
