Chapter 10: Someone To Protect
In Mio's consciousness the ominous black fog appeared once more.
"Child you are very weak.... This power is mine own but even when you gained enough strength to stand up on your own two feet it only seems that you fall forward..."
I don't know why... I.. feel like I shouldn't have dodged her attack at all.
"But you reacted the way you did... You sympathized with her helplessness and acted on your own accord."
Why are you saying all this??
"Think not as you should or should not... Act on your decisions that you would never regret..."
The black fog faded away. And she opened her eyes.
The goon was about to pull the trigger killing the girl but, in that time frame Mio flashed in front of the goon and blocked the gun with the chaos blade. The bullet ricocheted off the blade and made a hole in the teller desk.
For a brief moment Mio could feel as if she was one with the blade. That this uneasiness and pain that she was feeling just went away. She felt as if she had this newfound confidence in herself.
She looked towards Goliath and Goliath just smiled.
For once everyone heard the real Goliath speak.
"Good, now that the chaos blade as shown it self to me. I can finally go ahead and take it for myself."
Mio taunted Goliath.
"Bring it on. Bitch"
"If you say so."
Goliath swallowed what seemed to be a small colourful stone. His body began to change into a beastly form. With jagged teeth that could rip a mans head from its body and claws so sharp that it could could cut just with a scratch.
His form was hideous, a monstrosity of size. It was similar to a bear like creature, mixed with an evil being from fantasy.
The goons looked away at his appearance but as mages themselves they knew exactly what that stone was. They were informed enough not to interfere with Goliath's quarrel.
One goon thought it would be advantageous of him to try and kill the girl that Mio was protecting to get the upper hand.
Mio quickly cut down the goon with the blade. The others that saw the goon's attempt hesitated to do the same. Goliath in his new form started to charge at Mio when she wasn't looking. In Goliath's path there was a goon in his way. The goon was swiped away from his path like a small bug and his body was splattered across the side of the back with Goliath's sheer force.
Mio decided to block Goliath's charge with the chaos blade. Goliath punched the blade and Mio was taken aback. She skidded ever so closely to the girl who was still in shock from the previous murder attempts.
She tried to draw his attention towards herself by charging at him. She leapt into the air and did a downward slash to push him forward. He immediately blocked it and was able to catch one of Mio's legs as she came falling down. He then threw her across the room.
She coughed up blood as she hit the sides of the wall. The impact did not faze her, her newfound strength made her resilient and she immediately wiped the blood from her mouth and charged at him once more.
Goliath smirked, "That ain't gonna WORK!!"
Mio slashed his fist once more but, it was ineffective. In response Goliath used his right fist to punch the blade to block it and used his left to hit Mio square in the face.
Again she flew. The blade diminished into a small dagger next to her. She slowly got back up and Goliath was right in front of her.
"I thought the chaos blade would put up a better fight than that."
"You....bastard.."
"You're in no position to talk."
He held her by the throat and lifted her up.
"I can just snap your pretty little neck in an instant."
He looked at the blade on the ground and picked it up.
The ground started to shake. The blood soaked walls and floor was being absorbed into the small blade and began to change form. The blade turned into an axe. The axe head had the same pattern as the one on Mio's face. As he grabbed it, Mio could feel something on her arm. She looked at her arm where she felt immense pain. She rolled up her sleeve and could see one of the seven seals of the chaos blade glow bright red.
She screamed in agony. She fell to the floor writhing in pain. It was like her body was being taken over.
Then an ominous voice came and used Mio's voice and called out,
"The blade is not yours. You shall be consumed by anger as you will burn in hell agonizing over my power."
Goliath took the axe and was furious that the girl still had enough strength.
"You have no right to speak, demon."
He looked to one of the few goons still alive.
"Go get her and kill her. She has no blade she's weak and powerless."
"Yes. Boss!!" They shouted in unison.
They surrounded Mio while she was still on the floor screaming in pain.
"GEeetTt OUtt!!"
One of the goons tried to approach her with a knife and stab her.
With precision she immediately stabbed the goon with her arm and let out a vicious snarl.
The others continued to approach her despite the other goon's best effort. She took them out effortlessly one by one. She didn't have the blade yet she exerted an enormous amount of strength. Goliath was surprised at her feat. This new knowledge of the blade was yet unknown to him or the goons. He knew he had to stop her before she unleashes more power if she held the blade.
Mio's appearance was different then before the marks spread through her entire body and it felt like a surge of pain and energy flowing through the glowing seal. The blade's energy and presence have not left but the blade seeks to return to its owner.
Mio regained control of her body but she realized she was not herself she is the vessel that holds the sword. Then at that moment as if a switch was flipped she screamed in agony once more and the voice once again returned.
"Vile human, obsessed with power behold the chaos blade's true strength"
Goliath chuckled.
"You have showed me nothing. I have the blade in my hands and this newfound energy has made me 10 times stronger than I was before. You are all talk."
"Insolent giant. Your ignorance shall be your downfall."
Mio's eyes became red-orange like fire and she charged at Goliath with speed and manged to knock him down. In that instant she stabbed Goliath in the chest with her arm. She removed her arm but to her surprise there was no blood on her hand. The hole that Mio supposedly made began to heal itself enclosing in after she removed her arm.
"I told you before. That power is useless if you don't have the chaos blade."
He got up once more.
"That made me angry. It pissed me off. You speck of dust should DIE!!!."
Goliath roared a beastly roar that shook the ground and toppled the desks in the bank.
