Chapter 48: The true problem

I woke up the day after Jordi left and sighed knowing that I have a week to myself with no plan on what to do for the next week. I decided to take a walk outside even in the morning the scorching African sun bore down upon me, casting a long shadow as I walked under an ancient baobab tree.

Jordi's pov

Once I got to the capital I was met with people to serve me and make me feel welcome. it was nightfall by the time I got there so I just went to sleep before the meeting was held tomorrow to discuss the problem at hand. That morning an early meeting commenced. One of the leaders addressed the group with a commanding voice that resonated with hope, "Greetings, esteemed members. It is with great urgency that we gather here today to discuss the dire predicament Morocco is facing. Our water sources are drying up, leaving us and our livestock parched, vulnerable to malnutrition, and susceptible to diseases. We must find a solution together."

Another member spoke "why is this happening anyways a lot of the wells that have been newly installed so they should be producing a surplus of clean water". As everyone began to talk about the problem and solutions I thought about everything that has been going on and nothing was making sense. Suddenly I realized something and began connecting the dots. Maybe it has something to do with the black magic it is the only reasonable explanation. I looked at the maps sprawled out with lines connecting different places that have had water shortages and I picture the spots in my mind. The dark magic surges match all these maps. Could they be stealing water...but why?

I seemed to have completely tuned out the rest of that meeting thinking about what the reason could be or how I could stop this. We still had a couple more meetings throughout the week in which I attended and found they plan to replace the wells but that would be a waste if the problem lies within the realm of magic.

Veronica's pov

I began looking through some of Jordi's files later in the week to try to understand the black magic problem. I saw some places where there were larger upsurges and went to go scope them out. Most of them were just places with the water problems nothing out of place. There was a random warehouse though which was concealed to the human eye and I sensed a dark aura. I went back and circled the coordinates on the map for when Jordi gets back.
